Some Drinks That I Give My Seal of Approval

I didn’t want to sound like the voice of doom and gloom about all your favorite drinks in my last post- so below are a few choices I like. J

By the way- notice many of these drinks have a purpose, like proving tranquility and headache relief. Kombucha has B vitamins and probiotics. Coconut water is full of potassium and electrolytes and great for hydration. The fizzy spritzers don’t really have a purpose per se- but they are fun to drink when you want something that tastes bubbly and to replace all those nasty colas you might have been drinking for years. J Let us say goodbye to the poison!

We also have to keep working on shifting our perspective that anything we put in our body should be nourishing and helpful. Many of us have drink habits because we are used to drinking certain things for taste. Remember bad habits can and should be broken!

Here are beverages I approve of:

GT/Synergy Kombucha*

High Country Kombucha

* It is best to get the simple, non-fruity flavors like Trilogy (my fav), Gingerade, Original and Green. Trilogy, at 2 grams of sugar for 2 servings in a bottle has only 4 grams of sugar. Some of the flavors like Strawberry Serenity (whatever the cutesy name is) or Citrus have 16-18 grams of sugar a bottle! That is a big difference!

Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar Drink (even though it sounds gross! 🙂 )

Vita Coco coconut water

ONE coconut water

R.W. Knudsen Spritzers

Knudsen’s concentrated cranberry juice (to mix with water. This is the only pasteurized juice I occasionally recommend).

Seltzers and carbonated waters with lemon or lime flavors (the label should say ONLY carbonated water with natural lemon/lime flavor)

* Buy wine that has no added sulfites. It will process cleaner through your body. My favorite wine shop in NYC is Le Du’s wines (www.leduwines.com), which ships nationwide. They now have green and blue labels to signify their organic and biodynamic wines!

Here are a few that I still have a thing or two I would change, but they are not as horrific, shall we say, as some other beverages out there. They have served as good transition drinks for some of my clients:

Teas’ Tea (white tea flavor)

Izze

Tazo (iced teas- this is a good one for weaning clients off coffee)

Itoen Sencha shot (however it does come in an aluminum can)

Guayaki Yerba Mate (please note yerba mate does contain caffeine)

Hope you are having a wonderful week so far!

All my very best, Kimberly

Wow, Happy Birthday!!!! You must be a Pisces! You should take some time to meditate on your year ahead, and what your personal and health goals are for yourself. 🙂

They are okay- but lots of cane sugar high up on the ingredient list. I like how the Tea’s Teas are unsweetened.

Love kombucha! It actually help my boyfriend and me out a lot, because we’d come home in the evenings and usually had a beer or two before going to fix dinner (and then crash out). We both like the flavor of the (not sweet) kombuchas, and found that we liked them just as much–if not more than–the beer as an “unwind treat”! Plus I know at least I feel better.

    Good stuff!

    Hey Kimberly,
Would you write a post on supplements and the ones that you recommend for raw foodies, vegans, and anyone!
    Thanks 🙂

Kombucha is the shiznit. Although the Synergy brand (I think that’s the brand… the one with Trilogy and all that) has exploded on me twice even though I was a very careful. 🙁 I still drink it though. It hasn’t done that for a few months but I admit that I get a little squeamish every time I open a bottle.

Another fun thing I like to do is take a few tablespoons of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar and put it in water and add a couple drops of Stevia Extract (NOW brand… good stuff). Very refreshing and has a similar cleansing feeling that you get from Kombucha.

    Hey Kim,
I wanted to say first and foremost, I love your BLOG!!!! I was wondering how you felt about Naked Juice? I personally love THE GREEN MACHINE kind…..here is a list of whats inside: The fruit-
5 3/4 apples, 1 banana, 1 kiwi fruit, 3/4 mango & a hint of pineapple. The boost inside- spirulina 2600mg, chlorella 800mg, spinach 200mg, blue green algae 100mg, garlic 100mg, barely grass 150 mg, wheat grass 150mg, ginger 100mg & parsley 100mg. Now I sometimes become skeptical about pre packaged drinks and their claims. I would gladly appreciate your opinion on this Brand. Thanks Again for your Blog!

I like reading your blog, Kim – it’s like… another world.

Come to think of it, a lot of the people I’ve recently been paying any of my valuable attention to appear to live in a seperate dimension altogether! Love it.

Thanks for the recommendations; that Apple Cider one sounds interesting. I’ve drank the stuff straight no problem many a time (though in moderation, lol) and yet still shudder at the thought of tackling any more than the small amouont necessary.

Then I realise that’s nothing more than an overactive-imagination-scenario, and what you’re recommending is most probably going to kick ass.

…in a peaceful and empowering way.

    Hi Kimberly,

I was wondering what your thoughts are on the recent recall of GT Dave’s Kombucha from Whole Foods? I am really missing it and calling every store around to find some. I would really like to make my own, but I am not sure where to buy the scoby as none of the places on the web give me a lot of confidence. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks so much,
    Jamie

I like to drink the local brands of kombucha like Buddha’s Brew when I am in Austin and BAO when I am in NYC.

Is it okay to drink reg tea no sweeteners or green tea? I usually buy the green tea packs at sprouts to put in my bottle water. Plain no sweeteners. Just wondering if I’m ok with that.

    Thanx for your help

I completely changed my lifestyle and followed everything in your book and felt AmaZING! at first felt like i was missing out on so much, but then my skin cleared up and i began to research vegan recipes and it all made so much sense. I love kombucha and didnt see anything about it in your book that I read, the beauty detox solution, so was a bit concerned it wasnt allowed. I see from the blog however, that it is. I was curious if it matters when I drink it??

Hi Kelsey, everyone has different opinions about this. I would just try it and see how you feel. If it makes you feel more sensitive, then hold off until a later phase.
