We are jugglers! Juggling work, family life, socializing, me time and so on. This is what motivated me to come up with my Winter Immunitea Elixir Recipe– it is grounding and calming to the nervous system amongst the daily juggling act :), so we can stay our most balanced.
Let’s see how this recipe combines a few simple beauty ingredients that will help combat stress—balancing our nervous system and our immunity.
Boosting Your Immune System
Germs are everywhere, as are carcinogens and other toxins that could be detrimental to your overall health and well-being. We can’t live in fear though! And it’s not just about the outside. In fact, we can’t control these outside elements, yet we do have some control when it comes to our own immunity.
Well, where do we even start? Since your intestines play a key role in maintaining your body’s overall immunity, maintaining a healthy gut is essential. Toxins can build up on intestinal walls, and overflow into the rest of your body- keeping you from enjoying vibrant health. This is definitely something we want to avoid.
Thankfully, the healthy lifestyle habits we choose to incorporate into our daily routines can help us maintain a healthy gut that can support us in our life and creating our dreams.
In case you’re more curious, I outline my full plan for gut health in my The Beauty Detox Solution book.
Here are some steps you can take to protect your immunity, via gut health:
- Eat mostly organic plant foods including plenty of fresh fruits (like the ginger in this recipe), and vegetables.
- Have plenty of beneficial gut flora by taking an excellent SBO probiotic supplement twice a day.
- Eat my Probiotic & Enzyme Salad several times a week to help foods digest better.
- Take antibiotics only when absolutely necessary! They are life-saving sometimes, but they should not be taken casually. This is because antibiotics kill off all types of bacteria, good and bad (this doesn’t mean that there won’t be some instances where it is authentically warranted, but you can fortify it and its natural power by the food choices you make).
- And of course, adding this amazing Winter Immunitea Elixir into your routine (try visualizing this tea traveling through your gut and creating an atmosphere that will promote a healthy and well-oiled machine!).
Aromatic, spicy, and full of special flavor—ginger is an all-around health and beauty food that helps to promote detoxification—helping to keep our body clean from the inside out.
Ginger has immune boosting action—being a warming root—without causing irritation. This root promotes a good ole healthy sweat, which can be very helpful during cold and flu season—helping with the detoxification process!
Oh the things I can say about lemons! But you can read about that in other blog posts. ;) What I will say, is that lemons provide us with a great deal of vitamin C.
Vitamin C is one of the most regenerative antioxidants to help abate inflammation and various forms of aging in the body. This antioxidant keeps our cells vibrant and healthy.
Vitamin C is also important for keeping our immunity and energy strong—protecting us against colds and the flu.
Lemons can boost liver’s function and tissue regeneration, being extremely helpful while cleansing—since the liver is our main detoxifying organ.
Adding this yellow gem’s juices to our elixir will aid and protect our body’s with all these amazing healing properties. You can see why I love lemons so much and why I add them to my hot water every morning!
You may be familiar with cayenne pepper and how it’s typically added to food in a natural or powdered form. However, did you know some people actually use it as a cream or capsule? That’s right! This is because of its detoxifying properties.
These properties aid digestion—healing an upset tummy and even slowing intestinal gas. I think we all know just how uncomfortable these symptoms can be, but when you’re ahead of the game (eating foods that contribute to a healthy gut), you will avoid these issues less and less, and will know what to do to kick it out of your system.
Something else cayenne pepper does is stimulate your body’s circulation and reduces acidity. You can’t help but boost your immunity and feel great, by not skimping out on the heat of this pepper (especially if you’ve caught that nasty cold or feel something coming on).
This spice use to be neglected until recently, where you can now find it just about anywhere—from your local cafes (offering teas), to more and more recipes found on Pinterest where it’s being used from entrees to desserts. And who can blame the crowds, with it’s mildly earthy aroma and undertone scents of orange or ginger (YUM!).
Turmeric has been used in India for thousands of years as a spice and medicinal herb. It’s most popular with it’s vibrant yellow color in curry dishes.
One of turmeric’s main roles is in its ability to preserve youthfulness and beauty. Curcumin and other components in turmeric arrest cellular aging by capturing free radicals that cause DNA damage, and, is a powerful anti-inflammatory agent.
Turmeric also helps in cleansing the blood—helping with healthy blood flow. Makes sense that when you reduce inflammation, you help clean out your nervous system which helps unblock signals to your brain. And BONUS, your body will naturally create healthier, glowing skin.
Add a little coconut nectar or maple syrup for sweetness and this will soon become a healing elixir that you’ll want to sip on regularly!
