This week’s topic is: Creating More Light in Your Life with the 4 Cornerstones
We have just crossed the winter solstice, which is the rising light. And it is, as I like to say, the real New Year’s, not just a man-made date that was made up, but really the collective planetary alignment and forces are actually creating more light for those of us in the northern hemisphere that is rising up energetically inside of us.
We can feel that inspiration, we can feel that power behind us and our efforts. And of course, we just celebrated some holidays. And even with Christmas, we think about the true message of Christmas, of the Christ consciousness coming to the planet, which was unconditional love. We see the light of spirit and this is a really potent time to take advantage of this energy around us and to bring that into our awareness as we make choices for our lifestyle.
Today, we’re going to be talking about food, body, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual growth, which are our four cornerstones, and how they work synergistically to create more of this light energy.

Namaste loves and welcome to our Monday Solocast podcast, where our topic this week is creating more light in your life and in your body with the four cornerstones. And I’m very excited to talk about this topic today. We have just crossed winter solstice, which is the rising light. And it is, as I like to say, the real New Year’s, not just a manmade date that was made up, but really the collective planetary alignment and forces are actually creating more light for those of us in the northern hemisphere that is rising up and energetically and inside of us. We can feel that inspiration, we can feel that power behind us and our efforts. And of course, we just celebrated some holidays. Perhaps we celebrated Christmas or Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, or in the Hindu tradition, pancha, or whatever traditions you like to celebrate. And even with Christmas, we think about the true message of Christmas, of the Christ consciousness coming to the planet, which was unconditional love.
So we see the light of spirit. So this is a really potent time to take advantage of this energy around us and to bring that into our awareness as we make choices for our lifestyle. Today, we’re gonna be talking about food, body, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual growth, which are our four cornerstones, and how they work synergistically to create more of this light energy. So in, in the spirit spiritual texts, there is this discussion about the light. And you see that across different spiritual traditions and world religions. And it is this light energy that creates life. It creates vitality. You could say [inaudible] in traditional Chinese medicine or if you’ve got acupuncture, there’s discussion of of chi of this life force moving around. And it is very real. Everything is energy at its core. And when we look through the lens of energy at our food choices and our other lifestyle choices, we open up the potential for so much realization, so much deeper place of making decisions around our self care.
And you will see enormous benefits. You will feel the benefits, you will experience them versus just something that you know, you, you may track or look at, like your weight. That’s fine too, to have these numerical quantitative measurements. But when we’re talking about true wellness, we’re talking about the experience of feeling peaceful and balanced and energetic and inspired. And this does translate to a very healthy, beautiful body and clear eyes and energy and more mobility and grace and creativity and just it permeates throughout your life. So I wanted to bring in this topic this week because again, of the planetary alignment behind us because of the light element that is at the base of these holidays and traditions, even though sometimes in modern culture we make it about presence or get togethers, parties, and that’s fine too. It’s all part of the mix. But we don’t wanna forget the essential essence of the light and the energy and what this can do for our health and wellbeing.
And as we continue to transform and align ourselves, we continue to be of more service in the world, not just what we’re literally doing, but just by our vibration and our presence can bring so much healing energy, so much light energy. So before we go further, and I could <laugh> just dive right in, I’m very excited about this topic.

Solocast: Creating More Light in Your Life with the 4 Cornerstones
Alright, all that being said, let’s get into our show today. You’ll hear some nature noises around me. I am here at our farm in Hawaii and I just feel so inspired being outside.
So I’m literally sitting on the ground today. I’m in our bamboo grove, so I’m sitting under our very abundant orange tree, which right now has thousands of oranges. And I’m looking at this huge grove of bamboo that shoots up towards the sky. And you can see <laugh> feel how much light energy is here. So I wanted to share that with you and, um, I hope you enjoy some of the nature noises. I also recorded last week, our Thursday Q and A podcast, but for that show, I was deep in the forest grounding that energy, the deep, uh, process of manifestation we were talking about today in the light. I’m out in the, in the field here. Um, so you’ll, you may hear that that groaning croaking sound is the bamboos, uh, kind of rubbing together and there’s lots of birds and we have many wild chickens and roosters that run free. So please welcome in all the, the noises, the natural sounds of nature as we continue our discussion today.
So this greeting that is said by millions of people, yogis around the world is [inaudible] namaste, which really does mean I bow down to the light inside of you. So there is a place and a time and a part of our lives that is measurable and quantifiable as we talk about so much here. We wanna pay attention to stop sign or speed limits. We wanna have, you know, we, we get blood work done perhaps, or we get our blood pressure numbers and we, we really do need those numbers at certain points just to help guide us. But we don’t wanna look at all of life just through a a linear lens.
There is so much richness when we start to tap into intuition and we start to see things beyond just numbers. And so today, as we talk about creating more light, we’re talking about more attunement inside of yourself to your own highest potential energy. You could say life force your potential as a human to create your attunement to the light of spirit individualized inside of you, however you like to think of it. There’s this energy, there’s a life force, there’s a spark of life inside of you, and it is always there. But we have the capacity through our choices, through our conscious choices to expand that light. And as I mentioned at the beginning of our show today, the more light inside of us, the more magnetic we are, the more we bring love and opportunities to us because we become a source, the more flow, the more flexibility in your body, the more your body is able to take in nutrition and let it expel the wastes so that we become a living, breathing, embodiment of health.
And there’s a certain spark that people will notice about you glowing skin. People wanna know what it is. People ask me sometimes about that, and I feel that, you know, my skin was very dull for a long time and my digestion was really stagnant. And when I started writing books over 10 years ago, I really did focus on the nutritional aspect of glow. So yes, oh, the, you know, all the vitamins and the vitamin C and the riboflavin and the omega-3 fats and all of that, which is also critical and we’ll talk about that in just a moment. But as I’ve journeyed further, the glow I realize is really bringing more light in. It’s the glow of all aspects of the lifestyle. Food is one component, but it’s also through our hearts opening. It’s through removing blocks and stagnation coming into emotional maturity, self-control, meditation, moving our bodies.
Many, many different aspects contribute to this glow, which is that light. And so first of all, we just wanna be aware of this aspect of health and wellness and truth, which is that there is light inside of you. So just like the charcoal can be purified down into the diamond, we all have that light. But through our lifestyle choices and, and certain practices that don’t always serve us old habits, bad habits, we can dull the light. But the good news is that since the light is always there, we can work to reverse this process to unearth and to let this natural life shine forth and radiate more from you, which is absolutely
Possible through this four cornerstone philosophy. So let’s get into that. Now, the first cornerstone is food. And this is a very powerful part of the path because we see how much our nutrition and our food choices affect everything from our energy to our bowel movements, to our state of mind, to of course the health of our cells, our ability to regenerate and rejuvenate cells, the rate at which we age. Many things. And all yogis, all traditions have always talked about food. There’s talk of food in the spiritual texts in the Bagga, Aita, garden of Eden and the Bible. Many, many different ways we can, we can look to these texts, we can look to history. We could say that wow, food is really important. It’s not the end all be all, it doesn’t end with food, but it is an important aspect and it will have a tremendous effect on your prana and your energy.
So when we’re looking to bring in more light, we want to first of all eat the light spectrum. So we want to eat the rainbow diet. We wanna make sure that we are consciously choosing food, fresh fruit and produce that is a whole variety of colors. So this is one of the reasons when I go to pick tubers, for instance, I don’t always get orange sweet potatoes. I often get the purple Japanese yams because there aren’t that many purple foods. And color as we see it, is really an aspect of, it’s a vibration of light that is created into a, into a anchored, into a solid, um, physical material entity that we can see with our physical eyes. So it’s a way of anchoring the light. So to get the full spectrum of light, we want to eat a wide variety of foods. And as I wrote about in my third book, beauty Detox Power, each color is associated with a different chakra.
So by eating orange, for instance, which is associated with a sac chakra, your creative power, your um, your ability to create literally children, babies, ideas, friendships, birthing things into the world. And then the purple we were just talking about is the crown chakra creating us to, to the divine. Red is your moula da chakra, and this is connected to your abundance. So red, I’m going to be grounded here on Earth, not just have ideas come and go, but actually ground your ideas in to create real prosperity in your life. Yellow is the color of the money Pura chakra. So red at your power center. This is the will, the I am that I am, and your connection with the world and business dealings and your endeavors. So this would be a good place to include the yellow squash and the lemons and the yellow apples and all yellow foods.
And then the heart is green. And this is one of the reasons that the glowing green smoothie is so powerful because it can help soften the heart and open the heart, which is one of the most powerful energies and the energy of the heart, energy of love, which we can reverberate through all the chakras, but the heart energy is huge. So of course all the greens, the spectrum, the kale, the the spinach and, and parsley and the herbs and all the different greens, bringing that continuously into the body as part of our practice, bringing in the light. And then it continues into the blues of the throat, the blueberries, and some darker fruits, the blackberries. And then up again, as I mentioned into the violet purples, the ch uh, the crown chakra, the connection to the divine and beyond. So we wanna make sure that we’re getting on all the colors, and I know it’s really easy to <laugh>, um, get into, get excited about certain foods and just eat the same things over and over again.
And I certainly do that, but I consciously now really bring in different colors. So it’s as simple as going to the farmer’s market or to your market and just consciously choosing different colors. Besides that, you wanna make sure that you are getting a good deal of fruit in. So I get so many questions about, oh, it’s cold. And I know you may be in Minnesota listening to this, or Canada or somewhere very cold, but we still wanna bring in the fresh fruit, especially in if you’re in a place where the, the light is dim, winter is long and dark. Bring in the light through the fruit. If you don’t have access to fresh fruit, remember that frozen fruit is a wonderful option that is usually flash frozen at the moment of peak ripeness. So bring in the frozen mangoes and the frozen pineapple, or when you have extra bananas that are ripe, freeze them, right?
So we have access to that potency that is not just numeric but energetic. And the yogis have always said that fruit is the highest vibration, the pinnacle of nature. After the flower grows on the tree, it drops and the fruit comes. And I love witnessing this on our land in California, we have two, yeah, two apple trees, <laugh>, and you see these beautiful white flowers and then we know the fruits coming, and then we go and we pick them, pick the apples. So I encourage you colors and fruit is a very important aspect of this cornerstone for light. Now if you are going through candida or indigestion or um, bloating issues, you’re, I recommend of course you check out our SBO probiotics, which are very balancing in this regard. But at this time, you may wanna stick to lower sugar fruit, the berries, asai, lemon, cucumbers, things of that nature which are lower in sugar and which will work with your metabolism.
I also encourage you to use your intuition and feel into the food before you put it into your body. And it’s really important that you notice how much light is in the food. So food that is highly processed and been sitting around for a while, when you look at the food, when you feel it, you’ll see that it just feels lower in light, it feels lower in prana, lower in energy. So one of the principles of Ayurveda is that you do not eat leftovers that have been around for too long. You know, a day or a few day or so, a couple days, you know, is okay, but you don’t want to eat food that’s been sitting around in your fridge for a week or two weeks that lacks the light. So our second cornerstone is body. And in order to radiate out light, we need to purify the body.
So much comes into our body in the modern world by way of chemicals and additives and preservatives, fungicides, insecticides, pesticides, thousands of chemicals and household products and household cleaning products. And so all of those delve the light, they create congestion in the body. They are foreign matter that is not supposed to be there. So it congests and it stagnates and it dims. So we really wanna work to purify the body. And there are three compounds that I wanted to mention to you today that are especially helpful. The first is spirulina. There are so many studies and research articles about Spirulinas ability to detoxify the body. It’s been used even in radioactive treatments in with the people that were affected by Cher Noble a couple decades ago. And also in Japan. It’s been studied in Japan as well. So it has this ability, this really magical ability spirit created something to help clean us many things.
But this is one of them. To Chile, to Chile key late. I hear it said different ways, but what it means is it binds. So it’s almost like the bodyguard in the body, right? It’s taking a trespasser or someone that wasn’t meant, something that wasn’t meant to be in there. And it escorts it out. It’s really powerful. And spirulina has a strong taste. It’s very, um, flavor dominant. So you could try putting a quarter of a teaspoon into your glow green smoothie, see how that works for you. I like to just take the powder and mix it with coconut water and kind of drink it down myself so I don’t have to sip it through my whole glow green smoothie. But it’s up to you. There’s, you know, you can play with it. In my very first book, the Beauty Detox Solution, there was a recipe for spirulina pie, which is flavoring it with, um, coconut oil.
And I believe, I can’t remember what the sweetener was, it could have been coconut sugar or, um, I think coconut nectar was something I used a lot back then. Anyways, there’s ways to work with spirulina, but I recommend you, um, keep your spirulina in the fridge as well because it is analogy. So if you leave it out with, you know, heat and different levels of humidity, it gets funky. So I always recommend keeping your spirulina out in the fridge. The next compound is turmeric, which is known to help cleanse the blood. It’s that beautiful bright yellow color.
So it’s very purifying, it’s anti-inflammatory. Dr J my auric teacher recommends that women do not consume fresh turmeric, but stick to the powder because this has, it has the ability to open up blood flow in the body or all the fluids and it can be too much for the female body. So use your intuition. But I have always just used powdered turmeric and I really love golden milk. So I have that in the evening sometimes as an elixir, which is really easy to make. You can just mix quarter teaspoon of turmeric, a few shakes of black pepper, freshly ground black pepper, which retains a lot of its nutritive qualities. If you use ground black pepper, some of the oils can become rancid. So get that pepper grinder. It doesn’t have to be fancy, it could be like 10 bucks. <laugh>, the peppercorns. That is the way to go.
And we always combine to with black pepper to increase the bioavailability. And then there’s other things that people put in, in golden milk. You can add cloves or cinnamon or, uh, card is really delicious, especially this time of year. And then you can use some raw honey to sweeten it. And raw honey is very high vibration as well. It is the essence of the trees and the plants and the flowers brought by this very high vibration, mystical being known as the bee, which in Egyptian culture known to be the connection connector between this world and the underworld. And the bee has had such potent symbolism. And there’s much written about the bee in many worlds cultures and traditions. So honey, getting a really high quality raw honey, you don’t have to have a lot of it, but just really savoring it. Honoring it and adding it sparingly into your elixirs and other recipes is something that I recommend, unless of course you have some sort of condition that bars you from having raw honey.
So you can work with tum in that way. You can also cook with it of course, and use it in stir fries. You can add it into your kitchery and one pot meals and soups and so on. The other compounds, which you hear me talk about so much, but it bears mentioned here once again, is lemons. Lemons to purify the lemons of the, you know, the sun, the light energy just coming through. And it’s so simple and easy and inexpensive and powerful. And so just by virtue of if you’ve fallen off track, getting back into your drinking hot water with lemon practice or simply squeezing lemon onto your cooked veggies, we don’t wanna cook with the lemon because it will destroy the vitamin C, but just squeezing it on as sort of the last thing. We make lentils and make that a version of doll and then we squeeze the lemon on and it adds that beautiful brightness using it in place of vinegar and your salad dressings.
There’s many ways to get that beautiful lemon quality in. So we wanna purify as our focus, purify the body through these compounds, purify. Now we can also purify what we’re taking in through our senses. So being mindful of when we speak about light, it’s inspiration. It is connection, it is the light of truth, it is of love. So anything that feels that it is of the dark we want to remove or reduce. This could be violence in TV or movies that we are watching or on social media or if we’ve created habits that don’t serve us, maybe are, you know, drinking a little bit much or whatever you, you feel into this yourself and sit with it. Because this isn’t just about food, as I keep saying, it’s really about all the senses and nourishment and our whole lifestyle. So notice if it could be someone that feels very dark, that’s been around you. Um, well there goes the bamboo, you can hear the groaning quite strongly now, and the wind and the breeze <laugh>.
So notice things that start to feel dark to you, habits that don’t serve you anymore and replace them with ones that are of the light and that feel deeply nourishing to you. So our third cornerstone is emotional wellbeing. And this is the light of love and kindness. So imagining really feeling this light radiating from your heart, life, love and kindness to all that cross your path. So this means emotional maturity. This means rising above trivialities and resentments and holding grudges and getting so entangled in these little daily things that it takes the light, it drags us into the darkness of drama and bickering and jealousy and possessiveness and all these different lower qualities that are of the ego. They are not of the light, they are not of the true self. So I encourage you to do your many morning meditations, to do your morning intentions and to hold onto that light as you go through the day.
And that’s why I like to do mini meditations or just resets because there’s a lot of energies that cross our path in a day and there’ll be some very challenging ones. But if we remember that our intention to is to be of the light and to serve the light and to radiate light, the more we will anchor into that love and kindness and peace and our peace, things will come and go. We don’t have to be so entangled and I’m, you know, this is something we’re all working on, including myself. There’s days where, you know, we just feel a little bit more susceptible and ugh, that’s annoying or this happened, or, you know, this person really bugged me, or why did that happen? And that’s normal and natural of course because we are human. But we wanna continue to introspect. We wanna continue to monitor ourselves and notice where we can let things go.
Notice where something is a trigger in us that we need to work through so that it’s easier for us to not be as affected. Awareness is a huge part of cultivating more light in yourself and especially in this cornerstone of emotional wellbeing. There’s so much that we project onto others. There’s so many ways that we could unknowingly blame others or fall into that victim mode. And the empowerment of the light means I value the light more than these circumstances. I honor the light. I choose the light. And even when circumstances and situations and environments and people really challenge me, my intention is to stay in this light of peace, love, and kindness more and more each day.
So this is tied of course to our last cornerstone, which is spiritual growth. And so I mentioned daily meditation. This is the ultimate practice for bringing more light in all light comes from spirit, ultimately, right? So the more we meditate and we take in that light through interconnection, we come into the spine, we breathe down, and we commune, we attune with spirit or however, whatever word or however you like to conceptualize this expansive, higher intelligence, higher power, this energy. So daily meditation is the most powerful of everything we’re talking about here. And anything on the planet, in my opinion. Daily meditation is the number one practice to bring in the light, to bring in the calmness, the love, the peace, the joy, every, the bliss, everything that we’re looking for. And so as a practice, as we move through the day, we wanna focus on seeing the light in others.
And that’s why I love to say namaste so much cuz every time I’m greeting someone, it reminds me there is a, a, a being before me of light underneath the body and some tendencies which may feel challenging. There is the light, the light in others. So as we continue on our journeys, we realize that more and more of our lives will become about service because we start to feel so anchored in ourselves. We we’re good. How can I serve? How can I help? What can I do? Starts to, to come forward as a natural inclination of, of all of us, I believe, because our natural, um, our essence is light and love. So we wanna meditate. And then beyond that, we wanna take that into the world, into our interactions by remembering that every being that comes before us is a being of the light.
It’s part of spirit. We are all brothers and sisters. We are all connected. And to change the way that we view people and our interactions into this loving service, it doesn’t, you know, it doesn’t have to be in one specific way. It can just be through deep kindness, through humility, through listening, through honoring others and all of the infinite ways. But just to remember that essentially we are, and everyone we meet is light at their core. So I encourage you to check out some of the free practical enlightenment meditations that I have for you over at our website, my sa luna.com to help guide you through. And of course, there are infinite <laugh>, numerous, countless recipes and articles and other podcasts that I think you would enjoy over there on the website. So as we continue to journey, we’re just at the beginning of this cycle, the beginning of the rising light. I wish you so much light and so much love, and I send you so much support. Please reach out to me with questions or comments. I’m always listening. I’m always here. So once again, namaste. I bow down to the light inside of you and I look forward to connecting with you more this year. So much love and so much light.
