I’ve combined some of my favorite Beauty fruits for this smoothie and…it’s pretty awesome (if I do say so myself :) )!
My fresh, light and hydrating Triple Berry Summer Smoothie Blast is loaded with fruity goodness and antioxidants and is a great way to provide your body with an afternoon blast of nutrients, energy, and cleansing goodness.
Let’s talk a little bit about these super charged Beauty foods…
Berries
Berries, like other fruits, digest cleanly and quickly with no toxic residue when eaten on their own. We can immediately derive energy for fuel and absorb the vitamins and countless other micronutrients for to help build strong hair and great skin, and of course, better quality to our overall health.
Something to remember is to eat fruit on an empty stomach. If you top other foods with fruit, you will make digestive trouble for yourself (including bloating!). This is because fruits break down the quickest of all foods, and we don’t want them to sit on top of slower digesting foods, which can back up your system.
Can you believe that fruit (when eaten on an empty stomach), typically leaves the stomach within twenty to thirty minutes! If it sits on top of other foods, like starch and protein, it will take much longer to digest and will actually ferment in your gut. If you’ve been following me, you know this is a big no-no in my Beauty Detox books!
In addition to easy digestion, berries have been shown to protect your brain from memory loss and contribute to enhanced memories. Diets rich in blueberries will actually improve learning capacity and are among the best source of antioxidants that you can easily purchase and incorporate into your diet.
Blueberries are a delicious and energetic snack, and a great addition to this lip-smacking smoothie. And because they are abundant (try to buy organic—see note below), and in season at the moment— what a great time to promote brain function and boost your energy and focus!
Let’s get blending…
