Beauty Practice: Swap Out Regular Ole Cocoa Powder for Cacao Powder!
Both cacao and cocoa powders come from the same original source—the Theobroma cacao tree—and how it is processed is what makes the difference. Cocoa can be used sometimes, when sourcing is an issue, but it may contain added sugar or other sweeteners.
However, cacao is the raw form of the cacao bean, which is less processed (having more powerful antioxidant effects and health benefits). Both dark chocolate chips that are made from the raw form of cacao and cacao powder is what you will want to look for when prepping for this recipe.
Choosing this healthier option actually promotes feelings of love and joy, rather than the sugar rushes that other chocolates provide without the health and beauty benefits.
Remember, that when I’m whipping up any recipe of mine that includes dark chocolate, I am always referring to cacao. :) Whether it’s dark chocolate chips or cacao powder, just remember that dark chocolate is made from cacao.
Optimize your gut health by adding THIS BUNDLE into your beauty rituals!
These amazing beans also contain anandamide inhibitors, which keep the compound from breaking down quickly and the feeling of cacao anadamide lasting longer — meaning, we feel great longer. Bring on the bliss!
This powerful superfood can improve your memory, increase your bliss, shed fat, boost immunity, and create loads of energy.
Raw cacao contains nearly four times the antioxidant content of regular processed dark chocolate, 20 times more than blueberries!
Because cacao contains the stimulants of caffeine and has theobromine (even when labeled as “raw”), we don’t ever want to ingest insane amounts!
Adding cacao is small amounts will provide just enough to make us happy and give our bodies the beauty, health, and vibrancy it deserves.
You can now find cacao powder at markets, or online super easily.
Other Key Ingredients in This Fudge Pops Recipe
Coconut milk: Contains the beneficial fat called Lauric acid, a medium-chain fatty acid that’s easily absorbed and used by the body for energy. Coconut milk is dairy-free, lactose-free, and free from soy, nuts or grains. It’s a great dairy-free, creamy, plant-based milk option. In addition, coconut milk can help improve digestion, prevents fatigue, and helps you lose weight.
Dates: Consuming a few Medjool dates in your afternoon snack can provide a healthy surge of energy — warding off tiredness and being a great natural energy booster, say, over coffee or other stimulants. Dates also have high levels of soluble fiber, keeping us light and cleansed.
Vanilla: This extract has powerful liver-protective abilities and anti-inflammatory abilities — due to the vanillin content, and when treated with vanillin. Vanilla extract contains 26 to 90 percent of the antioxidants of unprocessed vanilla (depending on the type of antioxidant and the concentration of the extract). Vanilla also helps reduce overall inflammation in your entire body, which is the root of many health issues.
Sea salt: High-quality sea salt typically contains 60 trace minerals. I like using Himalayan sea salt, which is said to have around 84 trace minerals. Either way, sea salts are a great source of minerals and the choice I make over table salts (which can make you bloated and fat). Sea salt also contains electrolytes, like sodium, magnesium, calcium and potassium, which are essential to overall health and beauty.
With all of these amazing benefits, we can indulge in these yummy pops without any feelings of guilt, and loads of happiness!

Omg. Just wanted to let you know that my picky 8 year old eater LOVED this. We made them together and he said “this are by far the best popsicles he has ever had”???? ???? ????
This is one of the best things I’ve ever heard! Love our lil kiddos, they tell it like it is. So much love to you and your family. Keep up the great work! ;)
Hi Kimberly
Do you use the water and cream from the can of coconut milk or just the cream when making these?
I make sure to mix the whole can up so the cream and water mix well. So, yes, you will use both in this recipe. Let us know how you do and sending you lots of love! ;)
Can other types of dates such as deglet noor be used?
Hi Maya and thanks for your great question. Yes, other dates can be used for this and other recipes. I encourage trying to find an organic brand you trust, but otherwise, you are good to go! Keep up the great work and let me know what you think about these pops! ;)
I’m so excited to try these tonight!
Best dish for the summer. I love this recipes. It’s look easy, delicious. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Jack…be sure to let us all know how you like it. Take care and lots of love! ;)
These tasted great and were very easy to make. Even my husband, who isn’t always thrilled with my “healthy” treats, enjoyed them.
Thanks so much for sharing Sandy and thrilled to hear your husband is enjoying them too! Lots of love! ;)
This might be a silly question, but the vanilla extract I have has alcohol in it. Is that safe to put in the recipe and give to my kids, or is there another type of vanilla extract that is alcohol free?
Hi Beauty! The amount of extract needed for this recipe is so small that it shouldn’t cause any adverse side effects in kids. However, if you are hesitant in using it in this recipe, you can always leave it out and they will still taste great! :) You could also use natural vanilla bean paste instead. Hope you enjoy and stay cool! xx
