Today, I want to give you a quick overview and video demo of one of the many sought-after recipes from Beauty Detox Foods — Raw Taco Gorilla Wraps.

This recipe is rich in amino acids, chlorophyll, enzymes, omega 3 fatty acids, magnesium, iron, amino acids, folic acid and lots of other nutrients – and I consider it a total body beauty recipe, meaning it’s great for your hair, skin, eyes, balancing weight and more!

It also happens to make collard greens delicious and easy to eat. And collard greens are right up there with kale as one of the healthiest foods you can put into your body.

I sometimes make this recipe for clients, as it keeps very well in the fridge for at least 48 hours and maintains its taste very well.

    What can I use for “Taco Meat” If I am allergic to seeds and tree nuts? It’s tough to make these a filling meal without that “taco meat”


    • You can probably substitute either vegetable protein (i.e. Morningstar patties, crumbled) or use the same seasoning on a grain, like brown rice or quinoa. It will yield a heavier, more hearty filling…unfortunately it won’t be raw, and it will certainly have a different texture than the nuts.

    • Walnuts contain both omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. They are just more well known for their omega-3’s because of their status as one of the few vegan options with high levels of them.

  • These look great! It seems like you use walnuts a lot in your recipes. I’m allergic to them, but I can eat pecans. Are pecans a decent substitution for walnuts?

    • I use boiled cabbage leaves – they get strong and a really pretty bright green. And they are perfect from left over ones when making probiotic and enzyme salad.

  • I would love to try this! I have a child that is allergic to walnuts though. What nut would be a good substitute?

    • You can substitute sunflower seeds that have been soaked for a couple of hours and drained in place of walnuts if you have nut allergies.

  • I tried this wrap for myself and others I make food for and we LOVED it!!!! I wasn’t totally surprised though becuase every recipe I tried so far has been really good.

  • I would never have believed how awesome collard greens taste raw! thought they needed to be cooked for hours to make them more tender but was really pleasantly surprised. i’m going to be wrapping everything in them. Collards have such amazing nutritional profile and anti-infllammatory properties. My 3.5 year old thought these were tasty too :) thank you so much Kimberly!

    • Hi Cathy and thanks for checking out my Raw Taco Gorilla Wraps. Depending on your taste, you can try using cashews or macadamia nuts (or another variety of your choice), and should get similar results. Let me know how it works for you. Sending lots of love! ;)
