My Goji Chia Smoothie Recipe is here! This is the 5th smoothie in my 5 part series incorporating adaptogens. Woo hoo!
You can check out my blog on adaptogens to get caught up on ways to help promote your overall health and beauty by incorporating them into your lifestyle!
What’s so great about Goji Berries?
You may have heard me admit to eating these ruby-colored berries by the fistful (or bagful on occasion, when I was preggers!). I absolutely adore them! I keep these bright red beauties in a clear jar on my kitchen counter, and when I feel like a little energizing or sweet snack it’s easy for me to pop some out into my hand…and right into my eagerly awaiting mouth and belly! :)
Besides being delish, these little gems are important adaptogens that have extensive benefits for our beauty. Adaptogens are all about increasing our resistance to stress, anxiety and fatigue, and Goji berries have been extensively researched for their ability to not only produce general feelings of well-being, but boost our energy levels and performance. They are also high in nutrients that fortify and enhance our beauty, such as antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. How awesome is it that sweet little treats from nature are so incredibly good for us!
Gojis have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2,000 years and its believed that Goji berries were eaten by monks in the Himalayan Mountains to procure greater health, vitality, longevity, energy and stamina to help in their meditations).
Low in calories, fat-free, and a good source of fiber, these berries can be eaten raw, dried, or in liquid or powder form. Surely all of these health benefits have assisted in making them part of the superfood list. At Glow Bio, they are prominently on our menu in the Goji Fruit Beauty Smoothie (our most popular kids’ smoothie). They even make kids happy…is there anything these berries can’t do? ;)
By the way, this smoothie also contains one of my other favorite beauty foods: acai. I featured it in The Beauty Detox Foods, my second book. It’s a powerhouse food for helping to brighten and make your skin look glow-y. My favorite way to get acai into my life is from frozen acai packets, and my favorite long-term brand I’ve been using now for over a decade is Sambazon. You can easily find it in most health markets.
Remember, our Beauty Detox philosophy believes that our bodies are quite literally woven from the foods that we eat and digest. So let’s get prepping and…
