âI have taken probiotics before being an avid gut health enthusiast but NONE come close to Kimberly's SBO Probiotics! I truly feel beautiful from the inside and out.â
My Coconut Blueberry Acai Smoothie Recipe has three magical ingredients! Acai, blueberries, and coconut are powerhouses when it comes to skin-boosting and anti-aging antioxidants, minerals and more.
The ingredients in this smoothie make it one of the most beautifying cocktails out there. Bam!
Super-Hydration: Coconut Water
I love coconut water as a base for smoothies, because itâs thin, super light, and has a sweet yet earthy taste. You can just feel like you are putting nature right into your body when you drink it down.
Coconut water is rich in trace minerals that come from up from the roots of the coconut trees from the native islands and other places where they are grown.
Some key nutrients found in coconut are potassium, magnesium and calcium. The potassium is an electrolyte that helps to facilitate cellular cleansing. Itâs about twice as concentrated in coconut water, as in a banana. This of course is in no way diminishes the power of banana, which is greatly beloved in our Beauty Detox community!).
Because it is so full of electrolytes (like potassium), it helps to regulate the fluid levels inside cells. It balances the high amount of puffiness that may come from too much sodium intake.
Coconut water is incredibly hydrating, which is critical for your beauty and staying vibrant and being your most energized and gorgeous self.
Support Digestion: Organic Blueberries
Why organic? While we canât always afford to purchase all our produce from the organic section, there are fruits and veggies we should always aim to look for in the organic version. Blueberries definitely fall into this category.
We can avoid a vast majority of pesticides (which are neurotoxic and can build up in our bodies, causing reproductive, endocrine and other kinds of damage) by following the lead of the research from the Environmental Working Group (EWG).
The Environmental Working Group publishes not only the Dirty Dozen list of produce items to get organic, but the Clean 15 â this list is made up of foods less important to get organic (if budget is an issue).
We should take full advantage of these two lists and all the hard work thatâs gone into keeping us healthy and beautiful, from the inside out.
Because blueberries are a natural source of soluble and insoluble fiber, they help promote ongoing cleansing and keeping us clean and healthy- in the most delicious way!
Research has found that blueberries are among the highest fruits in antioxidants, and are super rich in vitamin C, to help build beautiful skin and bright eyes.
Super-Beauty Food: Acai
I just did a whole podcast on acai, as I think itâs that awesome and amazing. Please check it out if you havenât listened yet, I think youâll learn a lot! Iâve talked about it all the way back from the Beauty Detox Solution, where I already featured recipes on acai.
Acai berries have powerful detoxification capacities in the human body, are super high in antioxidants (even more so than blueberries!), fiber- filled cleanser, , minerals, and are naturally sugar free.
By keeping our colons free of these harmful substances, we help alleviate constipation and other digestive problems.
Whatâs pretty amazing about acai berries, is they are capable of speeding up bowel transit timeâpreventing foods from fermenting in the intestines, which can contribute to the dreaded bloating, constipation, and gas.
Now that Iâve hopefully got you super excited to work acai into your life, hereâs where you can actually find it! Acai can be purchased frozen in health stores.
My favorite brand that Iâve been using for years is the Sambazon Unsweetened Acai Smoothie Packets. Itâs made from delicious, organic acai, wild-harvested from the heart of the Amazon, using fair-trade practices to benefit the local farmers!
Add the coconut water to the blender.
Next, add the banana and fresh blueberries.
Add the acai and blend all ingredients until fully combined.
Enjoy!
