I have to admit, bypassing those makeup counters can be difficult, only because it’s so fun to be a girl and try out all the latest promises of healthier looking skin and a softer complexion.
Get ready to ditch all those products with empty promises of youthful skin and take charge, starting with my Avocado Green Sprout Smoothie Recipe. This smoothie is filled with beauty foods that will not only coat your gut with healthy fats and enzymes, but will provide you with soft, supple, youthful skin—NATURALLY!
Let’s find out how…
Beauty Food: Avocados
Are you an avocado-lover like I am?! I can’t get enough of these guys. But you and me both, need to limit our intake to 1/2 to a whole medium avocado a day (for the average Beauty), depending on your other sources of whole beauty fats.
Although avocado’s have a relatively high fat and calorie content, their raw plant fat is digested very efficiently and is extremely nutrient-dense per calorie.
I love this beauty food because I do notice how my skin becomes more supple and youthful, and that’s because avocado’s yellow interior is luscious and creamy—abundant in monounsaturated fats—ideal for skin rejuvenation, moisturizing, and prevention of premature wrinkles and lines.
If you’re looking for that natural way of nourishing your skin health and maintaining youthful skin tone, no problem there. Avocado’s are full of compounds that are rich in the skin-smoothing beauty vitamins: A, C, E (the best source of any fruit), and K.
Concerned about building protein in your body? Good news is, avocado has one of the highest amino acid contents of all fruit, which helps to just that—without the damaging effects that other proteins cause on our body.
It’s nice to know that the fats from the avocado will help our guts along, by lubricating the digestive tract—promoting the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins in your tissues and making your cellular membranes stronger.

Magical Beauty Food: Sprouts
An easy, whole food-based way to up the ante with more nutrients and enzymes, is to add more sprouts (or microgreens), to your beauty detox meals.
What makes these young seedlings so magical and worthy of our eating? For one, microgreens contain high concentrations of essential vitamins and carotenoids, are higher in beneficial enzymes, and have higher phytonutrients than their full-grown counterparts.
In fact, when a seed becomes sprouted, it begins to transition from a dormant seed into an actual living plant, which means, much of the stored nutrients begin to multiply. It’s been known to increase the protein content by up to 30 percent and the enzyme content up to 1,000 percent, and more. If that isn’t magic, I don’t know what is!
Here’s a Beauty Secret…
According to yogic philosophy, sprouts are the highest prana (energy) food of all since a sprout is gathering as much energy as possible to transition from a seed to a plant.
By now you may have gathered why I love mixing up my sprouts to gain the most powerful, beautifying benefits.
Some of my favorites are clover sprouts, broccoli sprouts, and, of course, alfalfa sprouts—which supply us with antioxidants that will help in prevention of menopausal symptoms and fighting cardiovascular disease.
Most of these micro-greens can be found at most farmers markets and upscale grocery stores, and are quick and easy to grow indoors on a sunny windowsill!

Any banana replacement ideas? I strongly dislike bananas haha
See how you like the smoothie without the banana – the avocado will help to make this smoothie creamy, even without the banana. If it’s not sweet enough, add a date or a squeeze of your preferred sweetener, like liquid Stevia. Let us know how you do…lots of love and support to you! ;)
I wonder if we get the same beauty benefits if substituting 1 cup of berries instead of the banana. Only wondering since I have banana in my glowing green smoothie everyday I like to change my fruits. This looks like a delicious meal either way. Thanks.
Hi Delcia Litt and thanks for checking out my new smoothie. Please feel free to create your very own version. You will still get all the great nutrients from the berries. Let us know how you do…lots of love! ;)
Just made this smoothie bowl today and loved it. This is perfect for a quick and light lunch. Keep up the fantastic recipes!

Thank you for sharing the information on sprouts! I saw broccoli microgreens yesterday and thought about incorporating them into my smoothies but put them back because I wasn’t sure. Now I’m definitely going back to buy them and use them in this smoothie tomorrow! Your recipes have changed my life and I’ve been following your advice for seven years. Thank you for all that you do to make us “beauties” Kimberly!
