Natureās Superfood: Spirulina
While Iāve never claimed to love the taste of spirulina on its own, I do love itās potent properties and what it does for our beauty and health. With the right balance, we can work it into our recipes!
Spirulina is amazing at providing energy, restoring hair and skin health, brain function, boost immunity, and in general, overall health.
Spirulina contains the highest levels of carotenoids, promotes health and longevity with its high antioxidants, and is one of the most complete food sources in the world (with over 100 nutrients, it contains an over 60% protein content).
The plant-based non-heme iron in spirulina is best absorbed in the presence of vitamin C, which is why itās beneficial to add fresh lemon juice whenever possible- or vitamin C-rich green and veggies, as we do today.
Spirulina is an excellent protein and nutrient source for those on a plant-based diet. You will still want to use it delicately, otherwise, you might find it gross and avoiding it all together. :)
When purchasing spirulina, try to look for a brand that is pesticide and herbicide free, non-GMO, free of gluten, soy, lactose, and preservatives. One of the brands that I like to use is called Nutrex Hawaii Pure Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica, which comes in powdered form.
This company has been cultivating Spirulina continuously for over 25 years in deep sea water in a BioSecure zone free from pollution. Sounds pretty amazing, right?!
Mixed Beauty Greens: Anahata (Heart/Fourth Chakra)
And just when you thought spirulina was the only green in this recipe ā guess again!
Yes, greens are our number one food group for providing us with all the minerals, amino acids and vitamins we need for superior beauty and nutrition. Their alkalinity helps root toxins out the more consistently we eat them. You can see why I canāt get enough of these amazing foods.
Something we want to take note of is, since green is the main color vibration of the heart chakra, then green foods are what vibrates with the frequency of nature and cultivates health, as well as on a deeper energetic level, love and compassion, and the ability to forgive others freely.
