Hi Beauties,
Today we’re going to talk about Natural Skincare for Gorgeous Skin. I’m a huge fan of skincare and taking care of our skin, which is our largest organ. We all want to feel good in our skin, literally.
We all want to have fresh, bright, beautiful, glowing skin. It’s how we show up in the world, it reflects our inner health. The way that we take care of our skin on the outside also has a really profound effect on our wellbeing and the appearance of our skin.
About 70% of the products that we use on our skin are absorbed through our skin. Again, this is our largest organ and all products are absorbed into our body. They get into our bloodstream and organs, like our liver.
We definitely want to use natural products. We also want to get into a rhythm. Just like we get into a rhythm with our food, the same should be with our morning practice. We want to follow a skincare routine that is not only natural and nontoxic but really, really effective.
The first step in a wonderful natural skin care routine is to cleanse properly. I’m a huge fan of cleansing your skin. Not just splashing some water on, but really taking the time to massage your skin. To get any pollutants out of your skin. This is especially true at the end of the day before you go to bed.
There’s a section within Ayurveda that’s called Reisen practices and it’s believed that the overheating of the skin (due to pollution) creates this inflammation that really damages the skin.
What we want to do is really cool the skin and remove the pollutants with the first step of our skincare routine, which is our cleanser. It’s really important that we cleanse properly. That we remove all our makeup, especially if we live in urban centers.
We need to take the time to really wash everything off. This is why I have designed our Feel Good Solluna Cleanser for you to be cooling. It’s full of botanicals, which take that excess pitta, that fire out of your skin.
This is the first step in your routine to balance the PH. To make sure that we’ve gotten rid of all that stuff so everything else will absorb better. We are removing that first primary cause of aging the skin, which is the overheating.
Next, I think that one of the most important ingredients for inner and outer beauty is vitamin C. You’ll see that in our Beauty Detox Solluna Program. We drink hot water with lemon every morning. We have lemon juice in our Glowing Green Smoothie®.
We use a lot of lemon juice and citrus in our salad dressings, in our recipes in general. It’s such an important ingredient for brightening, for glow, for immunity, and for health.
The issue is that vitamin C is very unstable. It tends to go down in potency quickly. When you’re looking for products that have vitamin C in it, you want to make sure it’s a very stable form.
Clinical research around vitamin C is measured at the height of potency. Unfortunately, that’s not what we get because products sit in our shelf. Over time it starts to degrade.
I’m really, really passionate about our ASC2P Feel Good Serum. This is 10 times more stable than regular vitamin C and it penetrates. I stand by this product a million percent. I think this is one of the most amazing products to put on your skin to really get that glow.
This ingredient also helps to prevent wrinkles, sun damage, lines and wrinkles that are already there. Super, super powerful.
You want to make sure that you’re using something that’s not only nontoxic but actually works, is stable and able to make a difference in your skin.
As a nutritionist, I think it’s really important that we look to skincare and a similar philosophy is food. I’m a huge advocate of eating land vegetables and sea vegetables. I think there’s a different mineral profile.
In this moisturizer, we have a botanical alternative to retinol. There are amazing oils like Argan oil and tons of amazing botanicals. We also have a sea vegetable and algae extract so you’re getting the benefit of this range of nutrients for your skin. It penetrates deeply.
There is also plant stem cells from pumpkin seeds so you want that mix. The combination of really potent ingredients in a moisturizer, which is going to deeply nourish your skin.
Then, we also have an amazing eye cream, the Feel Good Eye Cream, which is wonderful for the really thin under eye area. With natural skincare, you want to get into a routine and do it regularly.
You want to take care of your skin in the morning and in the evening. It’s just like eating well. It’s not just off on that’s going to see the difference. You really want to do something regularly.
These products are also really wonderful for the men in your life as well. Start with yourself. Make sure that you are taken care of.
You definitely don’t want to use products long term that can build up in your body and your skin. This can cause issues like retinol and accutane. Remember, your skin is an organ.
It is a huge eliminative organs. It’s an organ that absorbs. An organ that’s vital for our wellbeing. You want to take care of it properly, feel good in your skin, and have beautiful skin, so choose wisely.
