Dear Beauties! Many of you in the Beauty Detox Community have asked me about a simple, easy, make-up routine. We’re all busy and know that time is limited all around, including for preening time in front of the mirror :). One thing I’ve gotten down pat is a daily makeup routine in under 3 or 5 minutes that still helps you look polished. I created this short video to show you some of my favorite beauty products and how I do my make-up on a daily basis.
Here’s my quick and simple solution for make-up!
1. Moisturize & Protect
The first thing I apply is a tinted moisturizer/sunscreen. One product I use is by Suntegrity. What I like about it is that it doesn’t have the chemicals of other sunscreens; it contains non-nano sized zinc-oxide to act as a full spectrum SPF 30 protector. It also contains antioxidants and beneficial plant ingredients such as organic green tea. It’s free of skin care yuckies such as parabens, phthalates, synthetic dyes and sulfates.
It also adds a bit of coverage with all the other benefits. I personally don’t like to use foundation everyday because it feels too heavy and clogging to my skin. But we all need a little smoothing out, and this is a great, light product to help do just that. I use the Golden Light color for my base.
2. Blush
I’ve been using this product for years. It’s called the Aura Multi-Use Courtesan Cream Blush by Vapour. This blush product is made of all organic ingredients and minerals. I put a dot on each cheek and just lightly tap it in for a little bit of rosiness, which I think is really pretty. It blends in really naturally, whereas sometimes powdered blushes look like they are “sitting” on top of your skin.
3. Eyeliner
Next is eyeliner. I love eyeliner! The product I use is also by Vapour- called Mesmerize Eyeliner. What I love about this eyeliner is it’s mineral-based and doesn’t contain drying or irritating chemicals, which is especially important since you’re using eyeliner on the delicate eye area.
The sponge tip is also a great tool. After I line my eyes and smudge them, there is some of the smeared eye liner on the sponge tip. I then take the spongy tip and draw it over my eyebrows, to fill in and darken them, giving some more definition to the whole eye area. The bonus of doing this is not having to buy extra eyebrow makeup, and it takes a matter of seconds!
4. Eyelash Curler
I think you get a lot of bang for your buck with an eyelash curler. It just takes a couple seconds to curl your lashes and it simply and beautifully opens up your eyes. You can get purchase one at any drugstore or beauty supply store.
5. Mascara
Speaking of your local drugstore! The mascara I’ve been using a lot lately is by Physicians Formula. It’s their Organic-Wear Mascara. It contains minerals and is hypoallergenic, gluten free, safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers and has less scary-chemical ingredients than other mascaras.
It’s a more natural mascara and thickens nicely, without clumping like some other brands. The wand is also pretty good at separating your lashes.
6. Lips
As we all know, when it comes to lip products, we ingest a good deal of whatever we put on them, so we need to be aware of certain chemicals- not only for ourselves but our loved ones as well (who wants to pass along heavy metals or petrochemicals inadvertently from a loving kiss?!).
What I like to use is Sally B’s Lip Skinnies, in Pink Roses (all of their colors are pretty great). What’s great about this brand is that it doesn’t have petroleum (which can’t be metabolized – YIKES!). On the positive side, this great product not only moisturizes but it adds a pretty hint of color. It’s truly perfect for every day use- from wearing to the office, to running to the grocery store or taking your kids to the park. Because they’re so cute and tiny, you can put them in your pocket or even the tiniest of clutch purses. It really is, well, skinny!
So there it is, my daily beauty routine that I do most often. As you can see, I don’t wear eye shadow, powder or foundation on a daily basis so that I allow my skin to breathe as much as possible. That’s not to say I don’t love those things for evening or special events…but just not every single day!
My beauty routine takes about two to three minutes- talk about simple and easy. Hope you have fun looking up some of these great products and be sure to share which is your favorite!
By the way, you can check out all the beauty products and more that I love on my New Kimberly’s Picks Page! :).
Have a beautiful day.
Lots of love to you Beauty,
Kimberly
Good info, thanks! What do you use to remove mascara?
Hi Lizzie…You can use olive, jojoba, sweet almond, and coconut oil – all work beautifully. Gently massage them into dry skin, then add water and massage some more to remove your makeup before rinsing it off. Let me know how this works for you…Sending lots of love! ;)
Thanks so much, coconut oil worked great! Lots of love to you and Bub!
Thanks Lizzie! ;)
