I want to start off by saying how grateful I am for you, and how much I value our growing, supportive community that we are in together. It is inspiring and thrilling for me to see your Glowing Green Smoothie® challenge pics, hear how you are relating to a blog or piece of writing and see first-hand how supportive the group is in communicating with each other.
Over the years, our relationship has continued to develop, and I love the natural progression and elegance of these shifts over time.
When I started blogging, I didn’t have an Instagram account, for instance. I would somewhat randomly post blogs on different days and the only way you would ever know if there was a new blog was to manually come to the url and check.
Now we can keep in touch and share over photos, through emails linking to new blogs, on Facebook or whatever. You may or may not remember those earlier days, but more importantly, as we grow and evolve, I hope you can feel how tied together and connected we are now in so many different ways.
A few days ago, when I was in New York,
I had one of those moments of extreme clarity that unexpectedly pop into your life sometimes.
I was back on the East Coast (yes, where my roots are!) to shoot a segment on the Dr. Oz show. If you’ve ever watched the show (or even went to be part of the audience yourself) you will know that it is filmed in front of a live studio audience. I actually really enjoy it; I feed off the energy of all the people attending the show and like hearing real laughter and sounds of interest (at least you pray and tell yourself to believe that is what you are hearing!). I don’t really get too nervous per se, but I do get wildly excited right before going on.
But this time, as we started to shoot, Dr. Oz introduced the topic (cleansing) and then announced my name. When he said “Kimberly Snyder”, I had this moment of real presence and a thought, “Wow, this is really happening.” Not as in “duh, I’m here!” But as in…I’m actually on the Dr. Oz Show and he’s talking to me about the Beauty Detox lifestyle within our community. How exactly did this happen??
Then it got even more surreal.
As the segment progressed, Dr. Oz got to the demo table that showcased OUR beloved GGS. It felt like I was watching a movie in slow motion, hearing it and processing it all in the same time. “And…now…we…have…the….Glowing Green Smoothie…” As Dr. Oz drank it, I had this flashback to a moment years ago when I had made the very first GGS.
I remember standing in my kitchenette in yoga pants and slippers and blending some greens into a soup-like consistency. And then the magical moment of adding a banana, actually loving the taste and running into the living room (which was a shoebox in a tiny New York City apartment) to share my creation with my boyfriend I lived with at the time, spooning some into his mouth to see if he agreed it was delicious!
Again the question, how does our dear GGS go from being born in the tiniest of New York City apartments, out of my first Vitamix (which was a refurbished one, that vanished with that breakup) which I named in the most organic, unplanned way (it looked glowing as it blended up somehow, and I did notice it made my skin glow in just a few days of drinking it)… to being featured on Dr. Oz?
All this was like a racing flashback in a nanosecond.
Then it was literally my turn to say something, coherent and hopefully intelligent and insightful. Dr. Oz was commenting on how thick our GGS was (versus a juice) and the ladies testing it were talking about how filling it was and how they could taste the fruit.
Yes, it’s meant to be a bit thicker since it’s a whole food. And it really is special, ladies and Dr. Oz, isn’t it!?
I want to share these magical moments with you because they are markers of triumph for our community.
The movement is spreading through each and every one of us, and you should be so proud and thrilled of that. It’s only because of our community, through each one of us that drinks the GGS or lives and talks about any aspect of Beauty Detox, and shares about it with friends, family, co-workers, or just about anyone that asks, that the Beauty Detox movement has gotten to where it is today.
Wow, it’s powerful to think of that, right? In this example, millions more will hear about the GGS and discover our community that watch Dr. Oz.
That is creative power exemplified
Another magical moment for our community to share in was The Beauty Detox Power making the New York Times bestseller list.
When I started writing it, my publisher was unsure of the topic at first. It was easier and safer to write a more strictly food-focused book and market it, was their argument. But I wanted to write what was in my heart, and what I thought needed to be shared.
There are moments in our lives, where we have to trust what your inner voice is saying even if it is unconventional or against the grain. If you’ve read it already, you know that it truly is a different kind of book altogether.
The Beauty Detox Power came right from my heart, and it’s authentic and real and what I felt was in tune with the pulse of our community.
I dug right into writing it in a little cassita in Puerto Rico in a way that writing has never flowed out of me before. So again, it hitting the list was one of those moments of clarity again, as in… our Beauty Detox community is exerting its power to that national level.
I am literally and quite simply only the channel through which the actual writing is coming through.
But getting it out into the world is not about me, it’s about each and every single one of us, once again, in the community, helping to get it out there.
You can write something and no one reads it and it’s not really getting out there, is it? But this is…because and only as a result of the shared triumph of our Beauty Detox community.
I hope you can see the power of our community, this flow of creative power.
Putting things out into the world with dynamic force and creating our own reality. These are some of the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, the great yoga master and guru. From my perspective as a yogini, all these happenings are a form of yoga. We are putting out goodness that is good for the collective consciousness and community. It comes from a group of people that are spreading it, and then grows into larger and larger groups. You are part of this group is shining light to more and more each and every day!
I honestly feel really, really grateful for you. Thank you.
Truly. Thank you for being a Beauty that is really spreading the movement. OUR movement, which is about health and true beauty, true power as in living the fullest potential of our lives, and loving ourselves for the uniqueness that we each are.
Thank you for reading this, and taking a pause to feel the power and success of what we are all creating at this very moment.
There is a lot of work to be done, and people to help and reach! But we can also savor this very special, and sacred time. Take a breath, Beauty, and take in your success and creative power. You are amazing. You are powerful and uniquely beautiful.
With great love and gratitude to YOU.
