Orange Turmeric Smoothie
Todayâs featured smoothie is my Orange Turmeric Smoothie! As many of you know I have expressed my love for turmeric many times and I wanted to create another delicious way for you to consume it. To make this super potent smoothie, I paired the golden turmeric power with a deceivingly humble yet powerful beautifying fruit â oranges.
Fruit is straight up Beauty Food with a capital B. It has the highest water content of any of the food groups and also supplies us with vital amino acids, minerals, vitamins and fatty acids. Plus, fruit breaks down the fastest in our system, leaving no toxic residue, supplying us with readily available energy that can be used for immediate fuel.

Letâs Start With TurmericâŠ
I learned about turmeric while I was traveling in India, where this bright ancient root has been used in Ayurveda for thousands of years. Turmeric is the dried powdered rhizome of Curcuma longa, a plant in the ginger family.

In numerous studies, curcuminâs anti-inflammatory effects have been shown to be comparable to the potent drugs, such as, hydrocortisone and phenylbutazone- as well as over-the-counter anti-inflammatory agents. Unlike the drugs, curcumin produces no toxicity.
Recent research suggests that curcumin may also provide a well-tolerated and effective treatment for inflammatory bowels, assist in improved liver function and lower cholesterol levels.
The list of healing powers attributed to turmeric can go on for days (or volumes, as in Ayurvedic texts), but one of its main roles is in its ability to preserve youthfulness and beauty. Curcumin and other components in turmeric arrest cellular aging by capturing free radicals that cause DNA damage and is also a powerful ant-inflammatory agent.
While this may be enough to convince us of our need to consume this root, letâs not forget that by adding turmeric to our diets, we will also be contributing to making our skin glowing and beautiful!
And I love how the age-old wisdom of Ayurveda is backed up with modern science. It just shows the wise Ayurvedic sages knew what the heck they were talking about!
The OrangesâŠ
Juicy and sweet and known for their concentration of vitamin C, oranges make the perfect snack and add a special tang to many recipes; itâs no wonder I chose this bright colored jewel to add into my #smoothiesunday recipe.
Plus, theyâre generally available throughout the year, depending on the variety, which makes it the perfect ingredient for when you need an inexpensive and awesome friend. :)

Of all foods, fruit is the strongest cleanser for our bodies and because it dissolves toxic substances and cleanses our tissues and system, this bright orange fella is a great addition to our beautifying routine. It supplies us with fiber, minerals such as calcium, antioxidants and enzymes.
*Note: Remember that while this fruit is truly healthy, it must be eaten once our bodies are alkaline and cleansed enough to handle it, and when we have a good amount of healthy bacteria within to break down the fruit sugar (learn more in my Beauty Detox Solution book).
So what are you waiting forâŠ? Letâs get Glowing! ;)

Check out the full recipe belowâŠ
Happy blending!
Let me know how you enjoy making this smoothieâŠ.and âtil then, have a beautiful day.
Sending you love,
Kimberly
