I’m passionate about supporting causes that promote the education of a plant-based diet, because I believe they have an enormous impact on the well-being for all of us, including on our planet itself.
Choosing a plant-based diet helps to protect and rebuild our precious environment, as animal agriculture is the most destructive force for our environment, including being responsible for 90% of rainforest destruction to clear land for grazing, free-range cattle, species extinction, the killing of millions of sharks/turtles/dolphins with fishing nets, worldwide deforestation and so on…it makes my heart hurt. But all this can be reversed by more of us adopting a plant-based diet.
I believe that adopting an all or mostly plant-based diet is also the healthiest way of eating, which reduces the body’s acid load and clogged arteries, which can help prevent and even help reverse diseases like osteoporosis, heart disease, certain cancers, diabetes and more. Environmental and other toxins bio-accumulate as you go up the food chain, making plant-based eating the cleanest and most non-toxic way of eating.
Finally, choosing a plant-based diet is the most compassionate way of eating. We can avoid inflicting pain on animals, which have developed nervous systems and very much do feel fear and pain.
As the Ayurvedic saying goes, “As is the macrocosm, so is the microcosm. As is the great, so is the small.” What is genuinely good for us is also genuinely good for the greater whole, including all the people and other species on the planet, as well as the environment, and we see that with plant-based eating.
Here are causes that are part of the plant-based eating movement and education, that I passionately support and want to share with you:
A.U.M. Films and Media
A.U.M. Films and Media is a leader in producing high-impact media projects focusing on peace and compassion for all beings. They are responsible for two of the most important films ever made, in my opinion, which I constantly urge most anyone I come into contact with to watch! Cowspiracy, which has opened the eyes of thousands to the fact that the most powerful impact they can have on our planet is the diet they choose. What the Health is a groundbreaking film revealing the link between big food business, Big Pharma, government dietary recommendations and even large health organizations… and shows the simple way to better health and vitality.
Your donation will help produce films and media that educates and influences millions of people.
Blackberry Creek Farm Animal Sanctuary & Education Center
Blackberry Creek Farm Animal Sanctuary is an all-volunteer non-profit premier refuge for both animals and people in Northern California. It equips young people to rescue and advocate for unwanted and abused animals, to provide critical education and outreach to the public, and to foster compassion to all.
Blackberry is currently seeking to raise funds to expand into new land, providing a permanent home for hundreds of rescued animals, and host summer camps for children and teenagers that will include education on caring for our environment through our food choices and a plant-based diet. Airbnb cottages will be tucked into the grounds providing guests the opportunity to learn about plant-based eating. The new property will also be home to a distinctly special education and event center and will provide volunteer opportunities, events, a community garden and plant-based cooking classes.
