I had a wonderful day in Philadelphia today! I did this morning segment, and the Fox Studio happened to be in the Historic District of Philly- where I have never been before! Isn’t that crazy, since I live in NY? Then I parked at a coffee shop and met with some bloggers and the health reporters for some Philly newspapers. It was like my little office for the day. :)
PLUS I got to see the Liberty Bell for the first time, in its new glass building home, and Independence Hall. Ah, history! I feel like I don’t really do enough of that stuff unless I’m traveling in another country. I mean, Philly is only down the way from NY (but that way does includes the rather horrific, very traffic-filled New Jersey Turnpike, which is a bit of a deterrent :) ).
Anyways, I did a post on these 6 foods recently, and I hope you enjoy also hearing me talk about them in the segment! I always enjoy meeting the different hosts for these TV shows when I go on. Some are more serious and some are more relaxed and like to joke around… like Mike and Chanel from this segment!
One thing that always puts a smile on my face after a long day is knowing I have plenty of foods that increase metabolism to tackle the many days ahead!
Love & Light,
Kimberly
So glad you posted this! I live in Central/Northern NJ, so I only get NY news. I’ve been munching on those Turkish Figs from Trader Joes all day! YUM!
P.S. Was that lady serious Fig Newtons?? And the guy with the personal questions!! What the heck? :)
I know!! What the heck is right! I was so NOT expecting that. :)
Hi Kimberly – I JUST discovered your blog / website today and am very intrigued and excited to try your “Ultimate Green Smoothie”! I saw on your morning segment today that I can buy Acai at Wholefoods – can that be included in the Green Smoothie? Also, I grind up flaxseed for my “normal” smoothies. Would there be a reason for me not to add these to your green smoothie recipe? I guess I’m wondering if any of these foods / seeds would not “go” together for one reason or another…
Keep up the good work – I am VERY excited to try to get healthier this year!!!
HI Allison! That is wonderful! The Acai can be also used to make its own smoothie- with coconut water or almond milk.
I don’t recommend putting flaxseed in any smoothies that contain fruit, as that would slow everything down. It is decent in separate Acai smoothies since Acai has fat and moves slower than say apples or pears. You can also get flax in the diet through flax oil, on salads!

Kimberly, you were exactly what I needed to hear this morning on Fox Morning in Philadelphia. You walk the talk and are an authentic individual. My husband has Diabetes Type II and I have Celiac Disease and Diabetes Type II. We are going to follow your health practices more and more. BTW, the Turkish Figs was a new one for me. Figs and Dates are very high in sugar for Diabetics, so I may take one bite of one during the course of the day and get some kind of benefit.
HI Marry Ellen!
Great, I’m so happy we discovered each other!
Yes, dried fruit would be inappropriate for your conditions at this time. We have to focus first on rebalancing your body and all its systems. Cleansing greens are very important, lots of salads! Btw did you know that avocados are a good blood sugar stabilizer? xx Kimberly
I can’t believe he asked you if you’re “involved”, especially on the air, lol! Great segment!
Great segment :) I agree with Lauren, what was that lady thinking that Fig Newtons are the same?!?! HAHA I have been lots of raw onions lately, love them!
:) I’m not sure if she was kidding or not? She was super nice!
Wow I can’t believe you were right around the corner from where I work all day and I didn’t even know =P
Glad you enjoyed our city, and sorry if the people on the show were weird!
I loved your city and I thought the people on the show were fun! (Even if some of their questions threw me a bit off). :)
Hi Kim!!! this is Kimberly from An’jels salon. Loved the segment and I am very glad that you were able to see Philly! I love it there. I am definately going to keep up with your site because I am soo serious about changing the way that I eat! I always thought that the acai berry thing as jus a new fad so thanks for clearing that up. How do you feel about noni?
Hi Kim, we did not know avocados stabilize blood sugar and we took a diabetic type II course. Maybe we had forgotten. I need some avocado recipes out. Thanks for the tip.
Just got a chance to watch this. Agree with the others–some of those questions were quite random. And what up with the personal questions? LOL! Oh well, you did great on the segment. Glad you had fun.
Great segment although they seemed to interrupt you a lot. You do great at keeping up with their questions.
Glad to hear you had a great time!
Hi Angie! Yes, I like a little road trip sometimes. :)
Hi Kim,
I’ve been reading your blog for about 2-3 months after Tara Hogan wrote about you on hers. I really enjoy coming here to get information on how to become a healthier person. I have a question about water. I live in Philadelphia – tap water is really bad here – used to order Deer Park water but canceled because the jugs are #7 plastic. Do you have a good recommendation for how best to drink healthy/safe water? I’m looking into the brita or pur tap attachments but figured I would ask you first for your suggestion. Thanks so much for all of your info & knowledge that you share here.
Hi Erika!
I have a water filter from a brand called Nikken that I like. It has 3 filters and magnetizes the water. Bottled drinking water from plastic is a no-no. The pur tap attachment might be a decent option, though it is not the highest quality it is certainly inexpensive and easy to find. Then you can carry your water around with you in glass or stainless steel containers. PS- shower filters are really important b/c when we take hot showers our pores expand and we take in chlorine and other chemicals. (!) Nikken also sells shower filters.

Hi Ivana! Wow, thanks for your kind words. I hope you like my blog, and I hope you come visit me again soon!
I haven’t made a public announcement yet about my involvement with the solution, but I will be able to soon.
I will say that Clearasil should go on before any moisturizers you are using. :)
God bless you too my friend!!! xx Kimberly
Hi Kimberly,
Thank you so much for all of your wonderful recipes! I have been drinking the green smoothie for a week now and absolutely love it! I just had my second baby about 10 week ago and really wanted to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight– I am happy to say I am only 5 pounds away! I know the green smoothie is totally working!! I’ve seen that you talk alot about he acai berry and was wondering if you have heard of Mona Vie?
HI Tara!
I have heard of Mona Vie but it is pasteurized like all other bottled drinks. Pasteurized drinks are acid-forming in the body- so I say stick to the fresh Green Smoothies and salads!! Your body will be back in no time. :)
xx Kimberly
My partner and I stumbled over here from a different page and thought I should check things out.
I like what I see so now i am following you. Look forward to going over your web page repeatedly.
Nice replies in return of this matter with solid arguments and explaining everything about that.
Thank you!
