Face-mapping is an ancient Eastern philosophy which, similar to acupuncture, is rooted in the belief that all parts of the body are intrinsically connected.
In this Eastern Chinese philosophy, issues showing up on your face can be indicative of issues much deeper in the body.
This supports what I’ve always said- you can’t just count calories or grams of carbs and protein. Our bodies are more complex than a collection of numbers. That processed diet food or high amounts of animal protein may help keep you lean (at least for a little while), but over time can age your organs at an accelerated rate. What good is it to be thin if your face looks haggard and aged?
Eat more fibrous, enzyme-rich fresh plant foods and watch an improvement in your skin. The foods which are good for your health will also elevate your beauty.

Dear Kim,
A lot of people in my life smoke marijuana and find it very weird/prudish of me that I don’t. Whenever I am offered I always say that I don’t smoke because of health reasons, and the person offering almost ALWAYS says “marijuana is good for you, tobacco is not.”
What are your views on smoking or using marijuana (or any drugs, herbal or not)?
I would love to have some solid information to back up my stance haha
Thank you!
I am an out cast too! I have been told by so many people that WAAAAY more people do smoke marijuana than don’t and that I shouldn’t judge those that do. I have never wanted to smoke weed or do any other drugs. I always hear the same thing…it doesn’t hurt you and it’s actually good for you. I do believe that those who need it for health reasons (help with pain etc) it is probably better than a bunch of pharmeceuticals–who knows what they can do to you. It’s just not part of my lifestyle and I think it’s weird that people rely on it to get thru their normal everyday “stuff”. Anyway, I am not sure I can believe that smoking anything can be good for your lungs. That seems unnatural. Maybe that’s why some people choose to eat foods made with marijuana. I guess if you were curious about it…you could go this route instead of smoking it. Just a thought.
Great question, looking forward to this response!
Hi Jackie,
Stick to your truth!
It is a personal belief whether to smoke marijuana or not, and there are many medical claims that it can help with pain management. I don’t judge anyone else for what they choose or choose not to do- but I don’t smoke it.
I think it clouds your drive in life, and can be deceptively dangerous because it can slowly eat away at someone’s focus, and deter them from reaching their goals in life.
This isn’t “solid” info on herbal drugs- that’s a different topic- but that’s my personal opinion on recreational use. xx
Hi Kimberly! Great segment! But what were the 6 foods?
Love your solution!
Oh! The title is a little muddled I suppose. :) I mention certain foods throughout- but the main gist is more fresh, fiber-filled plant foods, less dairy, less oil for cooking.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Kimberly Snyder!!! My life has changed. Going through some difficult times and happened upon (no coincidences) the Beauty Detox book which has added some very much needed inspiration.
My Vitamix will be delivered today and I am soooo excited to go home! I’ve been using a friend’s blender but I get my very own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn’t be more excited to rip into the box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Ingrid!
I love you too. :)
I’m so happy for you that you got a Vitamix! Congrats on your new and improved life! xx
You’re amazing, Kimberly! Thank you! xo
Thanks Crystal! xx
Hi Kimberly, I’ve been really loving your emails and your book. I had every intention of following it to the tee until I recently found out from my homeopath that I have a sulphur allery. I am wondering if you have any knowledge of or experience with this and could help me tailor your program to my restrictions. I do not know if you are taking on any clients currently for phone consultations but I’d love to find out how to work with you directly. Thanks!
Hi Kim,
If you’re working with someone personally you can try to work in the suggestions into the program. Since I don’t know your background or specific issues, I can’t really offer any suggestions. Do be sure you are working with someone that you trust, who is getting the kind of health results you are after.
Keep in touch here with the community though! xx
Fascinating. Always love your insights! Thanks for all the wonderful information you provide!
Thank you!
I think I might have missed it. What were the six foods?
I didn’t hear 6 foods listed either. Just watch out for caffeine and eat more fibrous and fresh foods.
Ladies, please see my comment above! :)
great video Kimberly!! you are always glowing ;) still working on getting our glowing skin like you
Be sure to keep eating that P & E Salad girls! xx
is that ok also for men?
Thanxxxxxx kimberley
Wonderful, wonderful. All you said on the show is so true. When did this show air?
Hi Kimberly!
Thanks for this video – Very interesting. I wanted to ask you if you recommend a certain brand of soap/body wash that can be purchased online? Sally’s B’s is a little expensive for me to get posted to o/s. I currently use a goat’s milk liquid soap that is totally natural – do you think goat’s milk is a good choice for the skin? Also, I would love your opinion on laser hair removal. Thank you x
Hi Julie,
Good old Dr. Bronner’s is a great, inexpensive body wash. But Sally B’s products- especially the facial ones- are worth it if you want to get a few. The Get Even powder lasts forever.
Laser hair removal seems to be a good option for many people, depending on your hair type. xx
@julia
Try arbonne’s fc5 body wash…vegan and healthful!
i watched the video about face mapping,
but what are the “6 foods that will make your
face, skin look better”??
when i click on this sentence, it just
takes me back to the video.
help?
Great advice! Been food combiining for nearly two months and have lost 5 lbs! I find it to so easy and make so much sense for me with me busy lifestyle! Thanks again and love your posts!
That’s wonderful! Keep it up.
I’ve started incorporating a lot of the food suggestions from your blog, especially the GGS smoothie. I was wondering though, what you thought of the shakeology shakes? I have a friend who swears by them, but I always figured fresh fruits or vegetables would be more nutritious?
I also love your book, I’ve been cutting a lot of animal protein and dairy out of my diet and I feel so much better and more energized than I used to.
Those powders should NEVER be deemed a replacement for fresh fruit and vegetable-based smoothies, like the GGS.
I was with a client recently in LA doing a consultation, and during our consultation he literally stood up, went in his kitchen cabinet, and threw out 3 huge containers of shakeology. (I suggested we donate them to a homeless person- but what would they do with it? )
Good about the renewed energy!
this was very interesting. i never had acne until i turned 31 and now i have had the same spots on my chin for 7 months and cannot get rid of them. i am using a medicated cream from my gp, i don’t eat anything processes, i do all the things you mention in your book, but i am starting to worry that it might be hormone-related or due to stress or i don’t know what else. VERY frustrating.
hope you’ll expand this post to include the six foods…
thanks!
Be sure you are incorporating the cleansing mechanisms I recommend in chapter 6. xx
Great segment although I didn’t hear anything about the 6 foods?
Hi Kim,
First I must that you on all your great email,I’m following every step of them and forwarding to a lot of my clients . Your are a great inspiration to myself and others keep up and continue the good work.
Hi Kimberly,
I have a similar question to Jackie, except mine is about DRINKING. I know it’s not great for me but I don’t see myself giving it up anytime soon…
On an everyday basis I don’t drink or if I do it’s red wine and just a glass. But every once in awhile I love to go out and get drunk! (bad I know!) Like on vacation for example (I’m in Thailand right now :)…) I will go out and have at least 6 beers maybe 1-2 shots and usually black out for at least a little while.
Besides that I follow your system (which has been a god send to me, I love it so much :).
But anyways, I guess I was wondering if there are foods/vitamins/other lifestyle choices/whatever I could take to curb the reaction drinking will have on my skin both short term and long term…
Anyway, thank you for taking time out of your life to read my message and thank you so much for writing your book!! Your skin and smile is so beautiful it’s inspiring to me.
Hi Danielle,
Watch out for that Sang Som! It’s brutal.
Don’t get to the point of blacking out. In Thailand it’s downright dangerous, and bad things can happen. I met some girls when I was backpacking there that had had blacked out, and it didn’t turn out so great for them. Be wise!
You do need to replace B vitamins if you are drinking so much. Look for Baracka, that Australian product that has a lot of B’s. I think you might be able to find it there. Drink lots of lemon water during the day to give your liver and system a little love. xx
Ah thank you sooo much for your reply! You are the BEST!! And I follow your advice..Thanks again :) Danielle
I love your articles & I absolutely love your juice & smoothie recipes, I crave them now & I have so much energy, but I re-read & re-watched this & I must have missed the 6 foods too. What are they??
OMG- this post was totally misnamed. I am renaming it. Sorry loves!!
hey kimberly, i was wondering if its a good idea to have your GGS for breakfast and as a substitute for lunch? or am i overdoing it? i’m a student so i just can’t find enough time to make a healthy lunch on the weekdays. i keep dinners as per normal. looking forward to your reply! thanks so much for doing these posts and your book was a lifesaver!
Hi Rachel,
Listen to your body and how you feel. If you want to stay light for a while that can be good, but it is a good idea to have some chia seeds/avocado for some substantial beauty fat as well.
Sometimes I don’t get hungry until the afternoon, so drink the GGS until then, but sometimes I’m hungry right at noon.
But I do always hold off for a while if I have no access to something good!
xx
Hi Kimberly, I have been drinking your GGS with 1 green apple & stevia (still believe I have candida) for about a week. I have noticed that for about an hour after drinking it I have mucous in my throat, and keep having to clear my throat constantly. I don’t feel particularly bloated or anything, just the throat thing. Why do u think this happens? Prior to this, I was having your raw rolled oat cereal for about 3 months, so I have been off sweet fruit for a little while. Come to think of it, I do believe in the past if I ate an apple, I would experience the same mucous thing, but not after a banana or strawberries for example. Just not sure if I should have different fruit in my GGS, and not sure which because of the candida. Do you think my body will just get used to the apple? Thank you xx
Hi Julia,
Try doing without the apple, and just use the stevia and some blueberries(also fairly low in sugar). See what happens- maybe you have an issue with apples. xx
I had a similar experience too, is this only true to the apple in the GGS?
Dear Kim,
First i want to thank you because you inspired me to make a BIG decision in my life: BEING A VEGETARIAN… I made the decision on September last year, and it’s great, i don’t miss meat! And my food taste so much better!
I have Atopic dermatitis since i was 6 months old, and i want to know which foods are the best for me.
THANKYOU SO MUCH KIM!
Greetings from Madrid, Spain!
XO
Lara
HI Lara,
Congrats! That is amazing!
There is a lot of meat in the culture in Spain, so I commend you again for doing what feels best for you.
Love xx
Kimberly,
I was wondering if you have ever broached the subject of the unnaturalness and dangers of birth control? I can’t believe how uneducated women are when it comes to the many danger of the pill. It IS a carcinogen AND directly linked to breast cancer… I wouldn’t consider someone all-natural if they were treating their fertility like a disease…
HI Susan,
It’s come up in comments a lot and we should do a post on it. It is a hard choice for a lot of women. I personally do not use the pill or anything of the sort, but I understand that some women feel that they can’t just use condoms combined with timing their cycle.
I will put that on my list for topics. Stay tuned! xx
Thanks so much. :)
I am really loving your articles. Keep ’em coming.
P.S. Natural Family Planning is awesome for your body and for your relationships. Love it.
there is a skincare product called immunecologie – a friend of mine uses it and her skin looks amazing, do you know anything about it? is it bad for your skin?
Kim
I read your book and it has changed my life!!! Pistachios are noticeably missing from your list of beauty nuts-what are your thoughts on pistachio nuts they are my favorite!!
Hi kimberly,
do you have any diet recommendations to avoid cellulite and diminish the appearance of cellulite? What do you think of cellulite diminishing creams?
Thank you for your help!
Hi Kimberly I am looking for a yoga DVD to guide me for practice
At home. I have a 15 month old a very busy schedule.
I haven’t been able to find a yoga studio near by
With classes to fit my schedule. Any suggestions?
I cannot seem to get the green smoothie prep down – it still tastes not too good and is too thick. Any suggestions? I have tried to make sure fruit is ripe. Thank you
Hey Kim,
First, thank you so much for you book! I have lost 40 lbs over the last 9 months! Also, thank you for this article. As I am moving into phase three, I cut out drinking alcohol. I was a pretty heavy drinker in the past, so this was a big step! For the first few weeks, my skin broke out terribly . I now believe that my liver was detoxing from all the stress it had been under. I am sticking with it and feeling great thanks to you! Only 10 more pounds to reach my goal!
Hi Kim-
I read your book and loved it! I started the GGS and am starting out with the Blossoming Beauty Program. Only thing is I am naturally thin and getting skinnier since the program. I am at a resonable weight now for my height and frame (114 – 5’4″), but i look very skinny and wouldnt want to lose any more weight. Do you have any recommendations on how to keep on weight on this type of program. One thing I like is a plant protein powder (completly raw and has probiotics and enzymes in it), but I am not sure how this would fit in with beauty pairing and what the best time of day would be to drink it.
any advice?
also, are you currently taking on new clients for phone consultations?
Hi Kim
Can not find the blog you posted on colonic cleanse. I have been experiencing a lot of bloating lately. Have tried acupuncture and has helped but then starts again. The acupuncturist think make have gluten intolerance, which may be case. I feel though need to clean out system. Would a colonic help? What else do you recommend ? Can you recommend one in NYC ? Also would you be willing to consult withe me on this issue ?
hello Kimberley,I’m so excited about learning about you and all you exciting information I started on your detox program this passed weekend I made up some green smoothies that was tricky cuz I have a crappy blender so I had to use a food processor along with it lol it was intrusting I froze enough for a week, and I got some organic sourquart and probiotics and lemons I”ve been doing it all week so far so good but boy do I need a vita mix.I entered your contest to win one I’m keeping m fingers crossed that I’m the big winner I would be in heaven, any ways thanks for all you do hope to here from you Diane from Kentville Nova Scotia
Hi Diane,
Thanks for writing me! Good luck with the contest. Also, the Ninja is much less expensive and some readers that it works fairly well. We need you to get a decent blender asap for your GGS! Keep in touch with us here in the community. xx Kimberly
Hi Kimberly
I am a healthy vegetarian who has been having some digestive issues, I think mostly because I have turned 50 and my body is not able to digest all the greens I was eating. I have had a Vitamixer for several years and I use it for soups, smoothies for my kids, etc. I am not sure what got me to try your green detox smoothie recipe, but I did about a week ago and I am truly amazed at how much better I feel. I have cut my caffeine intake about 95%, am not craving sugar anymore and my digestive issue has completely resolved itself. I am now craving smoothies and have tried many new leafy greens. This is really life changing for me, now I am hoping that they lines that you mentioned on the Today show will start to fade a bit, and then it will truly be a miracle! Thanks so much…you have a new convert!
Hi Anna,
That is wonderful, and amazing! Yes keep on the plan, and make sure you also incorporate the cleansing mechanisms I speak of in the Beauty Detox for maximum results. We want the toxins in your body to be released as efficiently as possible, and that will start to translate into less lined skin. :) xx
Love your site I would like to know if any of your drinks can help with weightloss……? Also my niece has really bad acne she has scars from it and she has had it for years, she consides herself a vegain she never eats meat I would love to help her what can you advice for her.? THANK YOU
Hi Carol,
Yes, if that is your goal if you drink the GGS instead of heavier morning foods, and to replace afternoon snacks it will help with weight loss. You should follow the rest of the Beauty Detox plan for maximum results. Greens, which in beta-carotene which convert to vitamin A in the body, which help with cell overturn and regrowth, are great for helping skin rebuild. Sunflower seeds are a great skin food as well as they are so high in skin-repairing Vit E. Tell your niece to try the GGS and Dharma’s Kale Salad with sunflower seeds. xx
Hi Kimberly,
The inspiration I get from your site has changed the way I live, thank you so much for that. I wanted to ask you about green tea; I have 1-2 mugs everyday, I was wondering if green tea with lemon in the morning can work the same way warm water and lemon can to detox my system? Looking forward to a response :)
Hi Kimberly,
I have heard that people who have cancer, when change their diet to a raw living foods diet, can cure their disease of cancer. My brother in law has cancer in the brain stem. He has been through radiation, and chemo but the growth has spread….have you any stories of people with high grade brain cancers that cured their disease by eating raw? I really want to help, him and want to suggest this but wanted to know your thoughts….
Have you heard of Gerson Therapy? There is a movie on YOUTUBE called Gerson Miracle. It saved my wife and my daughter. 9 hospitals in 14 months no hope. 90 days Gerson Therapy cured both of them! God Bless.
Certain cancers can originate because of damage done to metabolic pathways in our body. Usually if such a pathway is damaged, cells can divide a lot as we eat more and more food and lead towards cancer. In such cases regulating food intake and specifically eating raw food with lots of antioxidants and anti tumorigenic factors can help to cure the disease completely. One particular lifestyle is called the LIM lifestyle which in cooperates raw vegetables and fruits only.
This is an unexplored area in cancer called spontaneous remission. Very little has been explored regarding this area … however lifestyle changes has helped in certain cases (but not all). For example a smoker who has developed lung cancer might not be able to use this method to hope for a cure.
Hi there, I found your site by way of Google even as searching for a similar subject, your website came up, it looks good. I’ve bookmarked to favourites|added to my bookmarks.
