Hi Sarah, I love coconut milk. Try the kind in cartons now instead of cans. It has more fat, so be sure to balance the overall fat in your diet. xx

    Hi Kim,

for the survey, could you indicate on the “scale questions” which number pertains to what position. i.e. on a scale of 1 to 10 of frustration- 1 being “not frustrated” and 10 being completely frustrated. I did my best to answer based on the assumption above.

Also, I would like to say your blog has been very very helpful and insightful for me in lifestyle changes that make a world of difference. the GGS is amazing and have seen some great results in my skin. I have turned my family on to some of the healthy lifestyle choices that I have adopted based on your advice and its been great, particularly for my father who has suffered from renal failure and diabetes I have had to make a rendition of the GGS for him and his diet restrictions and so far so good. If in the future you are looking into other topics- anything on diet and lifestyle choices for diabetics would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! And I look forward to more of your posts!

    Kind Regards,

    Lorraine

Good information Kimberly. I am in particular looking forward to more information on digestion and the muscular system having both chronic digestive problems and chronic muscular pain. All slowly getting better with diet and pt. That’s how I found your website, I decided to go back to a vegetarian diet and also explored vegan. I am now following a vegan diet.
Oh, yes, and more recipes please.

My “feedback” would be this: I realize that I am probably a minority pertaining to Kim’s client base an/or followers. I am a male and since reading and utilizing the principles in her first book, I have achieved my natural size and weight through nutrition and proper food combinations however I have since lost muscular strength and stamina. I have actually lost a lot of muscle, to be expected with some weight loss, but most concerning is my loss of energy and stamina. I do not want to go back to the way I used to eat however I am frustrated by my lack of energy on a consistent basis. If there was a way that the problems with people who have similar issues could be addressed, that would be sooo welcome and needed! Again, I realize most people want to know how to “lose weight” but please don’t forget about the people who have followed your principles and are already at their optimal weight, yet struggle with fatigue and energy issues. Oh yeah, and don’t forget some of your most loyal followers/fans are male. 🙂 Cheers!

I share Barry’s experience. Despite a focus on natural protein sources, after three months of following Kim’s plan, I noticed a dramatic reduction in my muscle density and strength. As a woman of childbearing age, I have since backed of the restrictive levels, but still incorporate many of the lessons.

        Hi Virginia,
The diet is meant to open up space in the digestive tract and overall body by reducing clogging foods and adding back in an abundance of fiber-filled plant foods that are natural for humans to eat.

To keep up muscle and strength, you have to engage in weight-bearing exercise. For me that’s the type of vigorous Vinyasa yoga I practice, for some it’s weight-lifting or other forms of exercise. 3 months is also not a very long time to clean out your system, which is what needs to happen before experiencing superior health. If you’ve eaten a certain way for 25-30+ years, then there will be a lot of acidic residue in your system that takes time to shift. Remember this is a lifestyle, not a short-term diet.

By all means adjust to suit your body and constitution, but hopefully over time you will find, as I and most of all of my clients have found, that after continually cleansing the body on an ongoing basis for some time, and creating more space for oxygen to flow, greater strength is gained with less effort.

      Hi Barry,
Thanks so much for writing me.
Please see the response I wrote to Virginia up in the chain.
Muscular strength has to do with weight-bearing exercise. This is the most energizing diet I know of, since it is our body’s natural diet and requires much less digestive energy.
If you are low on energy it could be your body cleaning out. Adding “heavier” foods can make people feel like they are gaining energy, because it quells the detoxifying process. Over time, with ongoing cleansing there is more space in your body for oxygen, and you will feel more energy with less external stimulation. This takes time however, as remember how long you ate a certain way. In the meantime, try adding more quinoa and chia seeds. xx

Barry, My husband has also lost some muscle, although he looks as good as he did when we got married 25 years ago. We do planks and push-ups, which work your entire core. The beauty is that it can be done in 5 minutes while watching tv without any equipment.
Here are some great core-building moves: http://www.menshealth.com/fitness/core-workout-4
Try looking up YouTube videos on core workouts too to change it up.

I read your book last weekend and have begun to implement many of your suggestions. My husband has begun this, as well. We were already drinking green smoothies daily, so incorporating the GGS was no problem. My protein and enzyme salad will be ready tomorrow, but I was able to find raw sauerkraut at the health food store to get us through until then. We are also taking digestive enzymes. I had no idea there were such an array available – I made sure to get one free of livestock bile… GROSS! We aren’t cutting out animal products, but we have definitely cut back on our intake, and we save them for dinner. I have a history of irregularity, and between the chia seeds and all the fruits and veggies, I think I’ve finally conquered that problem! Hubby and I are both feeling much less tired in the afternoons now that we’ve begun eating light to heavy. Thanks for all the great information!

In the town I live in, in Australia, there are only two brands of almond milk for sale. One is sweetened with sugar. The other is sweetened with agave. I can get organic oatmilk, that has not been sweetened. Going shopping on your detox plan, is not an easy task. It’s a minefield. Thanks for all the valuable info, you provide.

      Hi Terri,
Have you tried making your own almond milk? It’s super easy and I have a video on it. See if the oatmilk is labeled “made in a gluten-free facility.” I would take the almond milk with sugar over the high fructose one with agave. xx

    Hi Kim,

First I wanted to let you know I’m probably not your typical “client”, I’m a 15 year old female that surprisingly has a very terrible memory (no joke,my mom has a better one than I do and hers is bad). Also, while many other people try to lose weight, I’m trying to gain weight. I’m 5’5 and barely weigh 100 pounds..on bad days even 97 and on good days 107. I’m not sure if it’s due to the fact that I’m not finished growing, but I would really appreciate your advice because I’m not exactly sure what I’m doing wrong; I know it has to do with the way I’m eating and the foods I eat which is why I’ve been wanting to buy your book and just recently had the opportunity to do so this past Monday and I’m loving it! Due to my lack of weight, I haven’t done any diets so I wasn’t sure what to put on the survey so I put that I was planning to follow your book (: On the part where I had to rate how frustrated I am with the health advice I’ve received, I did it based on what I’ve heard before reading your book(excluding any advie I have had from you through this website because I’ve on this for a while). If I were to have done it based on the advice I’ve gotten from your website and your book then I would have put a 1 because what you say makes sense and isn’t confusing. (I’m doing the rating as 1 not very frustrated to 10 being very frustrated) Thank you for everything; I hope to follow your program soon seeing as I’m saving money to buy the blender you recomend a lot (: Until then I will do the other things mentioned in your book besides the GGS.

      Hi Giovanna,
I think it’s great you are exploring health at your young age. Don’t get corrupted by the confusing dietary programs out there! I want you to focus on health, and eating whole plant foods. You are young and your body is still maturing. If you focus on eating healthy foods, your body will be able to absorb them and balance in weight eventually. Stay away from junk foods, and “sticky” foods like white flour and sugars, but do eat lots of avocado sandwiches, brown rice, millet, quinoa, sprouted and millet breads, etc. Hummus is a good easy snack for you, and try brown rice pasta, as well as almond butter! xx

Hi Tannis, A high quality multi-vitamin can be good nutritional insurance. Kimchi is a good option too, as long as it is fresh and unpasteurized, and preferably without fish sauce. If you are eating the BDS way you are getting a lot of fiber. I recommend eating chia or freshly ground flaxseeds as whole foods rather than having to supplement your fiber. xx

Hi! I read your first book and fell in love with it! However I have the hardest time sticking with the plan! It would’ve awesome if you would come up with a cheat list of comparable items that we could print out or something… I know alot of times I don’t have time to make meals ahead of time and am forced to stop in at fast food or even worse convient stores, it is so hard to find anything healthy on the go! Also I wonder if you have considered doing a session of yoga/Pilates videos and uploading them on YouTube. I would love to workout with you via the Internet. I hated it when I tried p90x but for some reason I think I would enjoy your spin on it, you seem very peaceful 🙂 thanks.

Thank you for all you do! I have your book and have read it cover to cover and I am drinking green smoothies daily. Even my husband and 3 year old enjoy them! We have for the most part cut out dairy and gluten with the exception of occasional goats milk and wheat products. I have lost a few pounds and feel much healthier. I am looking forward to your next book! Thanks so much again!

    Hello Kim,

Thank you for putting together this MP3 – it was really insightful – I had forgotten several of the key areas and you have now reminded me. I am currently on day 5 of naturpathic HCG diet which is working for me quite well ATM. I am detoxing with this. I have yet to determine if I reach my ideal weight in this method but will then commence the GGS and more. As I am 55 do you thing the young coconut will be too fatty for me? I look forward to your comments and to working with your new concepts. Keep up the terrific work & ThankYOU.

      Hi Mary,
      Thanks for writing me.
If you want to lose weight you need to reduce your overall fat. That is one of the issues with most raw food diets- they eat SO much fat. If you do eat young coconuts you want the meat to be the really soft, jelly-like meat, and if you eat that, then don’t eat an avocado the same day. Low fat grains, like quinoa and millet, can be used instead. xx

I think I would say, that was a hard survery. I have no weight to lose. I am generally in good health, but I would like to GAIN weight. But in a healthy manner. So many publications talk about weight loss all the time and not a healthy way to gain weight. I have tried many different courses with no avail.
Some may think, UGH must be nice to need to gainw eight. I am sorry to say it is as much a struggle to gain as it is to lose for me.

i eat very healthy, strictly chicken and turkey. TONS of fruots and veggies. I love protein shakes.

I love to read and get tips on clean living, clean eating, and ways to better live life. But dieting is not for me. I don’t need it. I need the opposite and trust me it sucks and it is hard. I am extremely active, on the go constantly.

    Thank you

Hi Brandy, to gain healthy weight add later portion sizes of healthy foods, such as avocados, buckwheat, millet bread, etc.

Emaciation/not absorbing nutrients can occur if there is excessive clogging of your intestinal villi, so if you don’t clear that up it would be hard to gain healthy weight throughout your body. Avoiding clogging foods like dairy and introducing P & E salad and probiotics can help. xx

    Hi Kim,
Looking forward to the new info…I would love some tips on “where to start”! I am currently changing my diet to probably 95% vegan but I am having trouble also following the Beauty Detox Solution! It’s such a radical change that thinking about food pairing, getting rid of gluten etc. on top of it makes my head spin!

      Hi Katie,
The heart of food combining is just simplifying your meals. Just focus on that- fewer elements in your meals, and lots of veggies. xx

I share the same issues with Barry and Virginia. I’ve lost quite a bit of weight, but also muscle tone, after after following the primary principles of the Beauty Detox Solution. Now that I have a break from school (I was working full-time while also a full-time student), I will definitely be able to exercise more, so I’m hoping to improve my muscle tone. However, I worry that I’ll still feel fatiued in the evenings. I work late shifts, and I’m always feeling extremely tired by the end of them. Sometimes, as a last resort, I’ll drink some tea or coffee to keep from falling asleep, but I know this isn’t healthy.

Hi Savannah, to keep up muscle tone, you do need to apply weight bearing exercise consistently.

I don’t lift weights personally, but I do practice yoga, and I’ve noticed that a little bit goes much farther as far as building muscle tone and keeping it.
As for the fatigue, be sure you’re getting enough sleep, especially if you’re working late shifts as you say. Most people walk around chronically sleep deprived, which is one of the reasons our society is so caffeine-addicted.

Kimberly, Thank You so much for all your help!!! Both my husband and I have cut out the Dairy and Gluten. I have been practicing food pairing and doing the Lemon water in the morning and then the GGS. I have noticed a huge change. Thank You so much!!! About 4 weeks ago I took a class for IBS and what I learned was I was doing everything right, there was not one thing I could change in my diet according to them and I was going to have to live with the bloating and pain, then I read your book and it has changed everything the food pairing, dairy and gluten was my problem. The only problem I am having now is both my husband and I are loosing weight and we do not need to, so if you have any advice on how to maintain our weight? but keeping on your plan that would be great!!!! Thank You!!!! Again!!!! Karen

    Hey Kimberly,

Does this mean there’s a new book coming out??!!!! Can’t wait 🙂 I think this info is great and I appreciate you reaching out to your readers to find out how you can help as many of us as possible. I would definitely love to see a recipe book from you as well as info on how to improve digestion and how to develop sleek muscle tone. Do you only do Yoga for physical activity? I wonder if that’d be enough for me. I feel as though I’ve destroyed my muscles and metabolism from all the years of yo-yo dieting and hope your book can help me find a way back to health and a toned, trim physique.

Hi Kimberly, I have read your book and am following the best I can but I feel very fatigued with low energy. I’ve been getting light headed when I get up too quickly and almost fainted once. Can this have something to do with the way I’m eating now? Also I work out on a regular basis and would like to know the best post recovery smoothie or snack. I usually work out early in the day and don’t want to mess up my food pairing with protein too early in the day. Thanks so much:)

    Hi Kim,

I have read your book, and love the results. i am in my third year of university, and like many others ‘freshman 15’ definitely happened to me. With the help of your book I successful lost 25 pounds and have maintained this weight for three months. My one question for you is how do I increase my energy levels? I think I must be missing a very key factor… I can tell I am not brought down by obvious digestion energy such as: gas, heartburn, etc… but I am a little ‘slower’ than I was previously. For example: I run quite frequently, and I am not as inclined to sprint at the end of my runs like I used to be. Thanks for the help!

    Hi Kim,

I just wanted you to know how thankful I am for your book. I have shared it with family and friends and am just a huge fan of yours! Your emails and video clips are always inspiring, so thank you!

I received your book when I purchased my Vitamix in the beginning of January of this year. I just turned 38 and am a mother of three young daughters (2, 4, and 6). After heeding to your advice, I lost about 15 lbs., but then plateaued. I started to exercise, which really has helped but keep wishing I felt like I did the first two weeks I started your program. I had an insane amount of energy, but then it was gone.

The other thing, too, is it would be AWESOME if you were to come out with a BIG cookbook filled with recipes (including kid friendly ones, too, which would be a HUGE bonus).

Please let me know if this is on your horizon.

    Kind regards,
    Amy

I wish that I could keep with my weight. I was down to a size 10 but now I am back up to almost size 14 again. Is there any hope for me?! I don’t seem to have it in me to lose weight again just to gain it back.
