When I got to tropical places like Puerto Rico, I make a version of this GGS. Papaya is an amazing beauty fruit, especially when you can source it from right off the tree. It is high in beta-carotene, antioxidants and enzymes.
The tropical lime works great with the papaya, (in place of the lemon we usually use). Though I love coconuts and eat them every afternoon in such environments, notice that I do not add them to the daily morning GGS.Fat slows down the cleansing properties of the GGS, and coconuts contain natural beauty fat.

Puerto Rican Glowing Green Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 9 cups chopped spinach or kale
- 5 cups sunflower sprouts
- 2 cups papaya diced
- Juice of 2 limes
Instructions
- Blend the water, kale or spinach and sunflower sprouts. Add the papaya and lime, and blend until smooth. Enjoy, and save the rest covered in the fridge for up to two and a half days.
Happy Blending!

This sounds delicious! I’m so excited to try. Thank you for posting the recipe! xoxo
I can’t wait to try when papaya is more in season. Thanks for explaining why to ‘not’ include coconut water in the smoothie for the cleaning aspect.
By the way since I’ve been cutting back on dairy and sugar my husby has even noticed a difference in my skin and physique.
I’ve have your book and thought I understood food combining now, but it seems I’m somewhat lost. This has thrown me. Why is it ok to have a banana in the pure protein smoothie with chia and hemp?? By the way this was soooo delish! Is it because it has less water than other fruit? And does this mean it’s ok to have a banana with say almond butter, etc.?
Thanks,
Jade~
Hi Kim,
I love Papayas! Thank you for all your valuable blogs.
I started your program 3 months ago and I’ve seen great results :)
My energy and glow is noticeable to everybody @ work and family. Everybody wants to know what I’ve done to look so good. After I tell them is all about proper digestion, they can’t believe it and they want to do the same.
However, I had a question, my husband notice I have a really strong bad breath.
I feel embarrazed that I’ve been making people smell me this way :/
Is this related with the Beauty Detox program I’m following?
Thanks Kim,
Diana
wish papaya was organic here! That looks yuM!
Hey Kim,
I have a question – since starting to incorporate a glass of GGS every morning in my life, my hands have turned really yellow! I am pretty sure it’s hypercarotenemia but I do not even eat that many carrots. :/
Can you please give me some suggestions to prevent this? Thanks!
The same happened to me! Even though I limit carrots and other orange veggies!
Hopefully Kim will be able to help the both of us!
I learned this in my nutrition class and thought it may help: leafy greens are actually high in beta carotene, but the chlorophyll masks the orange pigments we associate with veggies like carrots, etc. I haven’t noticed yellowing of my skin, but it could be an individual reaction. Hope this helps! :)
Hello this has happened to me as well in my feet especially. I have read that hypercarotenemia is harmless in itself but have become concerned that this may be some kind of warning sign that the liver is processing too much beta carotene and over time may become problematic. However I also have very fair skin which may emphasize the carotenosis. I am considering having blood work done to find out if this is truly a problem. Kim, have you experienced this yourself or with any of your clients? What do you recommend as a solution to this problem (if it is a problem)? Please either reply or email me with your opinion on the subject! Thank you!

Hi Kim, Ive been on the GGS for almost a whole month (the 17th marks the month) and Id love to try out this other version but Im unable to locate sunflower sprouts, can you recommend an alternative ? thanks so much and keep up the great work ! you are truly an inspiration !
Thanks for posting :-) You’re the best!
hi Kim,
Just wondering if you can substitute Mango for Papaya?
thanks
Jeanetta
Hi Kim,
My husband and I are both very thankful to have learnt about your beauty detox lifestyle. The whole program is great! I do have some questions that I would really, really appreciate getting your opinion on:
1) What’s your opinion on eating primarily a fruit based diet like many raw vegans do? Why should we limit our fruit intake to about 4 servings a day? Is it harmful to have much more?
2) With regards to food combining, are fruits and fats as ‘deadly’ a combination as many raw foodies claim? Some of your delicious recipes combine nuts with dates, so I’m wondering if combining fruit + fat is really that bad…
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond Kim, I really appreciate it!
Cheers,
Sali
Hi Kim! I’m curious about adding the sprouted sunflower seeds to the GGS. I’ve read that they’re still considered a protein and should be consumed as such, is this true? Should we think of our sprouted guys as their original state or as a little plant? I’m confused!
Hi Kim. Is this the same shake you made on Good day LA. Wasn’t there some kind of powder you put in it? A blood cleaning powder of some sort?
I made my first GGS this morning n I loved it. It is so delicious!! Just a word of advice to newbies like me, don’t try to make a full batch before heading to work unless you allow extra time!!! Chop everything the night before or make it the night before like Kim suggested!! I must say drinking my GGS on ride to work was a real treat! Enjoy!
