Let’s discuss and share our favorite summertime beauty looks and products with each other. Let me start it off: we all want to look pretty, but it should not be at the expense of harsh chemicals and synthetics that can clog and ultimately age your skin.
Particularly in the summer’s heat, there’s already a lot on the surface of your skin, what with sunscreen, serums, excessive natural oils, etc. and you don’t need chemicals baking into your pores.
If you haven’t already, be sure to check out this prior post where I discuss the chemicals and additives in makeup in depth. The short of it is that in your makeup, there may be copious amounts of heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, mercury and cadmium.
There aren’t regulations restricting heavy metals in cosmetics in the U.S. There’s also tons of chemicals that comprise fragrances that make these products smell nice, but can unfortunately can lead to hormone disruption, neurotoxic effects and allergic reactions.
Then there’s nanoparticles, which are created by technologies now used in the cosmetics industry. Nanoparticles have the potential to penetrate the brain-blood barrier and can lead to health issues like DNA mutation and certain cancers.
According to a study conducted by the Environmental Working Group in 2007, products containing petroleum-based ingredients may be contaminated with a cancer causing chemical called 1,4-dioxane.
In fact, the study showed nearly ¼ of all cosmetic products may be contaminated with this ingredient. Additionally, the most commonly found petroleum product in makeup is phthalates, which are linked to endocrine disruption and certain cancers.
Yikes! Not what you were bargaining for when you wanted to just smooth out some under-eye circles right? Well that’s why I wanted to share my favorite products with you, most of which are completely non-toxic, to show that we don’t need to use the chemicals to boost your natural beauty.
1. Overall complexion.
It’s true I don’t wear foundation on a daily basis. I don’t think it is necessary. But when you do want to wear it, the Vapour Organic brand Soft Focus Foundation is super awesome- and that includes being compared to natural or non-natural brands! It is made of 70% certified organic ingredients and 30% natural mineral pigments & vitamins. It contains nourishing ingredients such as organic pumpkin and papaya complex, lysine (an essential amino acid), and the mineral silica.
It makes your skin really dewey and radiant, without all the petrochemicals and other scary crap. It’s my fave.
2. Eyebrows
For neat brows try the Brow Set by Mac. I like my brows to not be super skinny. I get them done occasionally at the Benefit Brow Bar in Bloomingdales. I say occasionally because the intent of getting them shaped every 3 weeks never happens in actuality.
I always seem to get sidetracked, or end up traveling somewhere. Whatever! In between I tweeze them myself, to the best of my ability, and I also use and like the Brow Set by Mac.
Mac is definitely not a natural makeup line, but for this product I don’t really mind because it only brushes the top of my brows and never touches the skin!
3. Skin just underneath eyebrow
Highlight the brow bone with Vapour’s Eye Shimmer in Cinder.
I’m also not a daily eye shadow person. But when I go out, I’ll add Vapour’s natural Eye Shimmer in Cinder, just on the brow bone below my brows. It is-of course, or course!- non-toxic, and adds a great highlight.
Another great way to perk up your whole face and add a girly elegance to the eye region without bright flashy colors. Maybe you are a daily eye shadow girl, in which case check this out as well as their other colors!
4. Underneath eyes:
For an undereye and blemish concealer, try the Vapour’s Natural Illusionist Concealer. This is a super smooth concealer that provides great coverage. I use a bit under my eyes when I’ve been up late (which happens more that I like), and if I get an (annoying), zit!
5. Lips
I love the Vapour Siren Lipstick in Desire, toped with Sally B’s Skin Yummies B Glossy lip gloss in Ruby Red. This my friends, is a biggie. You want to keep your lips looking youthful and healthy, and unfortunately, many of the aforementioned petro and other chemicals in lip products can really be a doozey on your lips, and even work to break down the collagen.
There is no reason to use unnatural lipstick. I repeat- none! There are such great options now. I love these lip products, and they work great.
6. Hair
Get a great bouncy haircut for under $100! I firmly believe that an awesome haircut is a must to make your hair look great every day with minimal styling. I have some layers cut all around my hair, so it bounces and so as to avoid the dreaded “Chrystal Gale” one-length look.
I pretty much wash and go, and I rub coconut oil into the dips, a few inches up from the bottom, to keep it from getting dry.
Great hair cuts don’t have to cut hundreds of dollars. New York ladies, my stylist Dee in the East Village is my go-to guy. I get a great cut for under $100 in his adorable three-chair salon called “3”, located at 90 East 3rd Street in the East Village. You can reach him at 646.385.6002.
7. Eyes
My go-to eye makeup: Vapour’s non-toxic Mesmerize Eyeliner in Black, and Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Mascara (available at any drugstore). I love the Vapour offers a natural eyeliner that works so great.
It also has a spongy blender tip on the opposite end of the pencil end, which I find indispensable for avoiding an unattractively harsh pencil line. At night, it’s easy to bump up more of a line for a more dramatic look.
I haven’t found a great natural mascara that I love, so I use good old Voluminous Mascara from CVS. I love the wand and how it separates the eyelashes.
I talk to most of the makeup artists on the film sets I too work on, and many say this it is a great mascara, that is pretty close to the $36 mascaras out there you’ll find at Bloomies.
I for one, will not spend north of $30 bucks on a mascara! I’d rather buy some organic groceries.
8. Cheeks
My all-time favorite blush ever: Vapour’s Multi-Use Blush in Courtesan. While I don’t use foundation every day, I will usually put a tiny dab of blush on.
I think a hint of cheek color is super feminine and brightens your whole look. And when you find an amazing one like this which is non-toxic, why not? I find the Courtesan color will really work great for most of us ladies’ skin tones, but they have other colors too.
9. Nose
Stay shine free with Sally B Skin Yummies Get Even Powder. If you have oily skin like me, then you’ll need a powder to keep your nose and T-zone area from looking like a localized oil-spill.
In the summer especially, I do often wear powder daily. This one is my fave. It really works to control shine, it doesn’t clog your skin and cause acne (the way many other mineral makeups ironically do), and it is non-toxic.
10. Neck:
If you’re feeling a bit pale, try the Solar Bronzer in Simmer. I try to get a little regular sun time, in safe, moderate amounts, so I don’t need the bronzer at the moment. But for my fair-skinned beauties, a little bronzer might add some nice, warming color.
Love,
Kimberly

Hi Kim!
I really LOVE mascara by 100% Pure. It goes on well, lasts for awhile and the dark brown color is made with Cacao and smells like chocolate. I also end up having this mascara on at the end of the day, and into my hot yoga class and it never smears under my eyes. Its not the most lengthening of mascaras, but I have found that I love the look, and the company better than most I have tried at the drugstore. Check them out, I would love to know your opinion :) I also just purchased some amazing products from RMS that I am excited about.
Thanks for all these tips! I love your book and have given it to at least 25 people since you started this green movement! So inspiring!
Rachael
Wow, thank you Rachael for spreading it!
I’ll look into the Pure mascara. :)
Arbonne has great product line. Certified vegan
There are so many great organic/natural mascaras to choose from, from dr.Hauschka to Gabriel (much cheaper), found as easily as at Whole Foods. L’Oreal is unfortunately one of top three the most toxic cosmetics companies, together with Revlon and Dior.
I had always heard Nars was up there as well.
Thanks Kim! I’m so glad to hear you use Voluminous mascara! I’ve been using it for years and I can’t find a natural or non-natural mascara that compares to it. Also glad to hear it’s ok to use!! I’ve been distraught the past few months trying to find a good natural one that won’t also cost me an arm and a leg. Now I know I can call off the search! ;D
Well until there’s a better option at least, right? I have talked to many other natural beauty people and no one has seemed to find one that is amazing. I shall continue the search though!
Loved this article… will definitely be trying the Vapour line. I found a great natural mascara that I love, in fact it’s the only one I use. Check out 100% Pure’s mascaras. They are very pretty and smell fantastic!
Okay yes, a second recommendation on the Pure. Will check out, thank you!
As a newbie to your site I just want to say I love your site and love, love your book.
Whenever you come out with your own beauty line, you have someone in toronto to support you!!!!
Thank you for sharing all your knowledge.
Lorena
Thank you so much Lorena! I have a wonderful publisher who is based in Toronto, actually. :)
Tarte all natural mascara is the bomb! Find it at Sephora
Hmm, will look into it!
HI Kimberly,
I just read a glowing review in Lucky magazine for a new all-natural mascara from Origins called GinZing brightening mascara….I don’t think it’s available till fall, but I’m looking fwd to trying it after reading about the wonders of it :)
Thanks for all the great tips!
-JulieB
Interesting, thank you JulieB! Origins uses a lot of questionable ingredients in other products, but I am willing to investigate this one. :)
Hi Kimberly. I recently ordered some of the Vapour products and I love them. I also ordered some of their samples, to try some different colors for the eyes, cheeks and lips. I will definitely be ordering some more!!! In an unrelated subject, I was wondering what your thoughts are on natural progesterone. I was prescribed this from my Naturopath and I get this from an apothecary pharmacy. The progesterone was prescribed to balance out periods, help with adult acne and sleep. I have a mainly vegetarian diet, thanks to your beauty detox book and I am wondering what your thoughts are on this medicine. Thanks for everything you do=)
Hi Diane,
Glad you like the Vapour! It is a fab brand.
You are not the first to ask about natural progesterone, and I will do a blog on it soon, as it deserves more of a discussion. xx
Try Honeybee Gardens Truly Natural Mascara. It works great! Just as well as the high end commercial ones I used, and it only costs $11. It has a 2 rating on the Skin Deep website due to a few of the ingredients, but I believe L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara scored a 4 (more toxic). I also really like the lip balms and eyeliners from Honeybee Gardens.
Okay great, I’ll check that out and the Pure. I know the L’Oreal is not natural, but I wanted to be honest about what I use and what works and what doesn’t. In a perfect world we would use all natural makeup- and I would not use synthetic makeup on my skin/lips. But a mascara search will definitely begin! xx
For mascara I love Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash mascara. The wand is amazing with stiff, long bristles that help separate the lashes. My lashes stay soft, not stiff. What do you think of Bare Escentuals eye products?
I’m not a fan of that brand’s foundations, etc. because they use an ingredient called bismuth oxychloride. I’m not sure if it is in the eye products however.
Hi Kimberly,
I love your advice and get so much out of it. Your recommended products have been hits with me too. Loving Sally B’s Skin Yummies & Vapour too. For mascara, I love the mascara from JingAi, which means pure love, a new company started by Donna Cristino who is a doll – makeup artist, Thickening, lengthening, & the wand is flexible so it coats lashes easily. Hope you like it too! Xo
Interesting! Thank you for the recommendation. I love the name.
And I love your name! My friend is also named Sarita. She said it means “Sacred River.” Have you heard that too? xx
Fabulous post! Love the numbered diagram of your face. Skin care is something that is put on the back burner but is so important. And just because makeup is expensive does not mean it is natural or skin friendly!
Kim, is your skin care line coming out anytime soon? Thank you for the recommendations in the mean time.
I found a mascara a few years ago by Physician’s Formula that was mineral free and talc free and worked Amazing but for some reason they don’t make it anymore :(
Hi Nicole!
Yes, the line will come and in the mean time I will be launching lots of other exciting surprises for you guys!!!
The PA had a decent blush I used for a time- too bad about the mascara.
Glad you like the diagram, it was fun putting together. :)
Thank you for all the advice on enhancing our beauty without unnessesary chemicals. :)
Since almost all the products you recommend are natural this question might be …stupid but I still wonder. How about animal testing? Are they cruelty free? I know L’Oreal isn’t.
Thank you for sharing.
Love
/L-M
Hi Linda-Marie,
Not stupid at all. Sally B’s is definitely cruelty-free and I am almost sure Vapour is as well!
Hey there Kimberly!
I loved all your makeup tips! BUT as a Kimberly Snyder advocate and fellow follower I do believe you should be using an all natural mascara. There is just as many contaminants in mascara as there is in other products! I have a couple tried a lot of different natural mascaras and some of my favourite are
-Physicians formula-100% all natural, no animal testing
-Tarte-Amazonian Clay Gifted mascara, no animal testing
-Josie Maran mascara, no animal testing
Perhaps you can add an all natural mascara to your makeup bag soon!
xxEmily
Hi Emily,
Tsk Tsk! Yes, as I mentioned above I wanted to be honest and share what I really do use.
There are a few great reco’s here that I will look into!
Great advice! Do you have a referral code/discount for the Vapour line of products?
Yes there is a discount if you click on the links here!
Hi Kim,
I love what you have in the book, and would like to try those products you recommend above.
I couldn’t find the promo code you mentioned on the Vapour web site, I am in Canada, their shipping fee is an extra charge on the top, it will be great if I can have the promo code to give their product a try.
Many thanks.
W3LLpeople brand is also wonderful.
For mascara I love the physician formula organic masara! it works a lot better than others and they’re also available almost every where like walmart target and walgreens!
Okay I will try! Some said it was discontinued but maybe it was that location.
I use Physicians Formula Organic wear mascara. It is organic, has no parabens, harsh chemicals, perservatives or fragrances and GMO free. It is usually about $15- and I usually find the pack with a bonus mascara in it (meaning 2 for 1)!
Great!
Kimberly:
I love your book and thank you for the great information you are sharing. I was disappointed with the Ojon haircare line as they have some chemicals so I had to return the product. Any other recommendations?
Jennifer
Try Hamadi instead.
Kimberly,
I was looking into Hamadi on the web and the shampoos have hydrolyzed wheat protein. I have terrible reactions to nearly every shampoo, natural or not. I’ve tried sulfate free and frangrance free but still have reactions. I’m thinking maybe I’m sensitive to the wheat protein. Do you know any brands that are all natural, soap free, fragrance free and that don’t contain wheat?
Thanks!!
Great story!!!!! Where can you find vapours brand? Just online??? I like to try to color on my skin tone…..
By the way I love eyeko skinny brush mascara!! It does not have:
– Sulfates
– Synthetic Fragrances
– Synthetic Dyes
– Petrochemicals
– Phthalates
It’s the best! And it’s made with natural oils and will last 2 days if I wanted it to!!! Best of all it’s on 19$ at sephora!!!
– GMOs
– Triclosan
Great, thank you. I’ll check out!
Great tips – as always! I have to say this summer I’ve been at the beach a TON and my hair is SO dry. I just picked up some totally organic Argan Oil from sevanibeauty.com and it’s made such a difference just on the first few uses. I chose this Argan Oil because it was pure first off but also its from a company that’s cruelty free and all their other products are vegan – something really important to me. Anyway – just thought I’d quick add that but love all your tips for a real summer glow!
I brought back argan oil from Morocco when I was there in December. I’m glad it works for you- I have to say that I didn’t think it was any better than coconut oil for me, but we all have different hair.
Thanks for contributing! xx
Hi Kimberly,
I would be very interested in hearing your take on helping pms symptoms. About ten days before menstral cycle starts my digestion gets very slow, bowels get more stuck, anxiety and my appetite shoot up and I feel ravenous! My sweet tooth tends to be the hardest to control. I try not to deprive myself but make good choices by having your macaroons, truffles, dark chocolate or chia seed delight instead. Problem is I feel my cravings get so intense I overeat them and make the problem worse.I have the GGS every day and eat a mostly raw, living and properly combined diet. Any advice on certain foods to take in or avoid during this time?
Hey Rachel,
I have a few blogs on this subject. Check them out!
Hi Kim, check out une cosmetics, it’s controled by ecocert. Unfortunatly it’s not yet available in the US, but if you are in Europe you will find it in certain countries. The blushes are amazing, and they have a tons of different shades. The mascaras are awesome too. I’m a professional make-up artist and love working with those products.
Cheers, Jana
Well that’s great to know for my Euro friends! I will check into when I am in Europe, hopefully this fall! thank you. ;)
Hi Kim and other lovely ladies!
I love this article. I have your book in hard copy and on my kindle, so I can share! I have been recommending your site and book to everyone!
I would like to suggest arbonne’s mascara and skin care and cosmetics. Vegan, lots of organic ingredients, no animal by products or petro-chemicals, no dyes or perfumes!
I love and represent this line…the tinted moisturizer, bronzed and mascara are my go to summer products. Simple and stunning!
Thank you so much! I have heard of Arbonne and will investigate further. :)
Thanks Kimberly for all these great recommendations :) About mascaras, I personally recommend Fiberwig mascara which only needs to be removed with warm water as opposed to having to remove it with an eye make up remover. It’s also really good and is the only mascara Ive tried that doesn’t irritate my eyes..which I think says a lot! It comes in several versions; including one with a curved brush (my favourite). Don’t know how “natural” it is but it’s worth a try.. :)
Sarah
Interesting! Where is that available?
Great suggestions! I just ordered some samples from vapourbeauty.com, so I can test some foundation and lip colors!
Great, that’s a good idea!
Looooove soft focus foundation by Vapour- will never buy anything different now!!!
Hey Kim!! Thanks, this is awesome! Also, have you tried any of the 100% Pure cosmetics? I’m not affiliated, I just love their stuff. (Natalie (from Ridgefield/Georgetown) introduced me!) Hope you’re doing well!! oxo
I agree with 100% Pure. I hope they stay in business forever!
Thanks Meg and Dien,
Will have to check out the Pure which is getting rave reviews left and right! xx
Thanks so much for posting this about natural makeup, I appreciate it and can’t put into words how much it means to me that you took the time to do this. I have tried every single product line and have been constantly dissapointed and now am trying to find natural products. I will order from Vapour and see how those products work, thanks again!
Thank you Ashley for reaching out! I hope that you love, as I do!
Thank you, Kimberly, for sharing all your wonderful finds!
(I am drinking a Skin-Plumping Smoothie as I write!)
And thank you ladies for all the posts about alternative mascara choices,
as in addition to being toxic, L’Oreal also tests on animals :(
Happy Summer to everyone!
I am surprised that nobody has even mentioned Korres. It is a Greek natural makeup brand. They are not organic but their products rate well in EWG’s database. They definitely have some of the best performing natural products on the market!I have tried zillions of mascaras out there and all smudge on me except these. To me these are the best comopromise, maybe not as natural as 100% pure or Afterglow, but they work much better w/o the toxic stuff that L’Oreal and others have. Give them a try.
Kimberly – Have you heard of Carnosine? I’ve been reading on the web about it being essential to aging properly and vegetarians being lacking in it. I was wondering if you had any thoughts on it? I don’t want to say that it’s a bogus claim, since I know very little about it. It seems to me, everyone should be aging perfectly in the West, since the diet is very meat rich, which obviously is not the case.
Yes, exactly. There are a lot of studies on isolated, fractionated nutrients, but the main thing is to see how whole foods affect your health/beauty overall. People that eat very high meat diets age faster- in more ways than one.
Hey kimberly! I read our article in a brochure at Elliot’s here in my town. Im Hooked on your blog now, and just ordered your book. I have a question…. I’m 25 and have major discoloration and sun spots on my skin. Soo going without makeup just won’t happen with me because my insecurities with my skin. But I wanted to know what you would suggest to get rid of this mess on my face? I just want to get a glow to my skin and be able to be comfortable not wearing any makeup. I
Trying to eat better and have been making your green smoothies and reading your recipes. But should I be putting anything on my skin hat might help?. I know you may never answer this question but I have tryed everything! What can you suggest?
HI Rachel,
A great diet with lots of beta carotene especially can help encourage new cell turnover for your complexion. There are also some non-invasive laser therapies that may help correct sun spots. You may want to research them! xx
Hi Kim, check out the Inika brand- 100% organic, mineral make-up and their mascara is fab. The range is recommended by Jess over at the Wellness Warrior blog. You should check it out.
Oh by the way- watch out for Korres; I used to love their poducts till some of the formulations changed and are no longer as natural as they make out. They also claim not to use parabens yet use grapeseed extract as a preservative which is made with parabens! So yep, Korres is one of those brands that claim to be organic or natural but dig a little deeper and it all starts to unravel.
I love Vapour for my cosmetics! Their products are so wonderful. You’re a great person to give advice on this subject. You’re gorgeous!
Thanks Erin! You are very sweet. Love the pic- is that a GGS??
Re: Mascara:
For the Aussies out there I highly recommend the Ere Perez almond oil black mascara. I used to use the L’Oreal one as well so my expectations to mascara are pretty high. I get it from my local organic supermarket, but it’s readily available many places online as well.
So, I can honestly say that you have me officially hooked on Vapour makeup products! They are terrific, thanks a million! I just recently started using your envision beauty “The Solution”. So far I’m very pleased, its a wonderful product. My only concern is I just noticed it contains Dimethicone. I have been advised by a holistic nutritionalist to avoid this ingredient at all costs. She deems it unsafe and its advice I’ve received numerous times by several individuals. What is your take on this subject, I really value your advice and appreciate the time and energy you put into helping others, like me. Thanks in advance!
Hi Lo,
I think you’ve come across some false information- as I am in no way affiliated with that product and do not recommend using it. Surely they do accept returns, which is what you can do!
Kimberly,
i live up in seattle and for some reason the weather here just dries put my eyes :( what do you reccommend? any products, etc? i really appreciate all your super helpful and interesting advice. i think ive read all, or almost all your blogs now!
HI Kimberly,
I absolutely love your books and all of your tips. I was wondering if you had any less expensive options for make up? The Vapour line sounds great, but it is very expensive. Please let me know if you have any ideas!
Thank you so much!
-Ashley
Hi Kim!
Love all your advice and tips. A great natural mascara I love is made by Honeybee Gardens, run by herbalist Melissa J. Hertzler, out of West Reading, PA You should check out their web-site and the various natural cosmetics they carry. My personal favorites are Truly Natural Mascara in Chocolate Truffle, Luscious Lip Gloss in Viper (tastes good too) and finally Vanilla Pie Lip Balm (smells divine)! Seriously great stuff, affordable prices, and natural ingredients!
Kim,
Just wanted to thank you for recommending Vapour Organic brand Soft Focus Foundation. My skin loves it! It is amazing!
Ire
Hi Kimberly, thankyou for this blog and for sharing this information with us :) I am interested to know your thoughts on the ingrediants used in Miranda Kerr’s skincare line Kora Organics?
A friend bought me your book and so far I’m loving it.. it all makes sense, and I love your website too. If you were ever to come out with your own makeup or skincare range, I will deff be a customer! But if you do pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease make a foundation for us pale ladies…..
Lots of love
All the way from Australia
Hi Kim,
Just stumbled on your blog today and I have a beauty question – do you recommend any Josie Maran products? I use a few of her products, but it looks like you really like the Vapour brand. I have also stopped using foundation every day about 3 months ago and have noticed a complete transformation in my skin. With beauty products less is always the better choice!
Thank you!
Hi Kim,
Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge/expierence. If you havent tried it, I’ve just started using Blinc mascara, it forms a tube over your lashes, never flakes and washes of clean with water and slight massage. I love it and cant see using anything else ever again!
Thoughtfully,
Karen
Kim,
L’oreal tests on animals and so does MAC. Why would you endorse these products???
Dear Kimberly,
first of all, thank you for a great blog. I really love to read your tips what ever comes for a healthy life. I´m going to order some makeups from Vapour organic beauty. I´m intrested about the Vapour’s Natural Illusionist Concealer and the Vapour Organic brand Soft Focus Foundation. I live in Finland and we don´t have a possibility to test or see the colors, so I would like to know which numbers of colors you use in these products?
Wishing you a great and sunny day! All the best, Irina
Kim: Many Thanks for highlighting the health concerns associated with beauty products, especially here in the USA. There are other brands besides the wonderful Vapour that features powder and creme cosmetics. For instance, Au Naturale Cosmetics features a broad range of healthful cosmetics from foundations to lipsticks to eyeshadows to lip glosses. The products are not only organic, cruelty-free, and non-toxic, but they are also vegan and manufactured in the United States with 10% of profits going to environmental and humanitarian projects.
Best,
Ashley Prange
Hi Kimberley,
I am from Australia and use a brand called Jane Iredale. I swear by this brand and best off all it is used with natural products. The Mascara range is amazing – I use the Pure Lash Extender and Conditioner (this works by really giving your eyelashes the full, plump look and extends before then applying the Longest Lash Thickening and Lengthening Mascara!!
You can buy all online and shipping to your front door.
Let me know what you think.
Peace and Love
Lauren :)
Hi Lauren, I also love Jane Iredale and am in Melb. It’s so expensive in store, what website do you buy from?
I really like JLU Skincare’s Orange and Aloe Calming Facial Cleanser. Their products are made of natural and organic ingredients, and actually work! The cleanser leaves my skin feeling soft and I can see that my bigger pores are becoming smaller! YAY!!!
Dear Kimberly
I have been looking for a day cream with SPF, in Australia all women need it, I currently use one from Clarins but has lots of stuff, do you recommend one that is safe?
Hi Kimberly!
I have been following you a few months and so enjoying all of your knowledge! Wow! I am reading your blog and book and learning so much!
I am in the process of purchasing the Vapour Organic Concealer that you suggested above and noticed that on their website the lightest color concealer is the one you recommended. Does the whiteness do better of covering up in contrast with the mineral powders?
I am planing on using this under my eyes, especially when I have been up late, but I don’t want it to look like a white ghost under my eyes. But if that color works best for you, I will take your word for it!
what is your thoughts?
Thank you!
Brittney
We are a gaggle of volunteers and starting a brand new scheme in our community. Your web site provided us with useful information to paintings on. You have done an impressive job and our entire group might be thankful to you.
Wow, the Vapour Siren lipstick sounds good! :-)
And the lip glosses look really shiny and lush!
Julie.
Hello There. I ran across ones blog page the employment of live messenger. It is deemed an quite well published content. I will make sure you take note of that obtainable back in find out more of this helpful facts. Thanks for this publish. I will definitely returning.
Thank you for all your recommendations. I am living proof that this natural stuff really does work! I now look on the back of every cosmetic, cream, or lotion that I buy. I love reading all the beauty products that you recommend. I have one for all your ladies out there to try, its called Airelle. It is an all natural skin care line. I have been using their products for the past few months and my skin has truly never looked so clear or felt so smooth. My two favorite things are their Age Defying Serum and their Exfoliating Cleanser with Glycolic and Bamboo. I start with the facial cleanser that smells amazing. It has very tiny grains making it gentle for sensitive skin, with enough texture to actually feel it working. I follow with the serum, you literally feel your face firming as you apply. I have had no issues with drying effects and you can wear it right under your makeup. I have really seen a difference in my skin. In the past 2 months, I have had no breakouts and my skin feels much firmer, smoother, and tighter. I love that this company strives to use all natural ingredients.
I am having a hard time going natural inexpensively but also looking pretty! Natural products average around $20 and up and unfortunately I cannot do that. I appreciate your suggestions but I just can’t afford it. I am resorting to not wearing much makeup at all because I am so nervous but I do want to look put together. I am using Aveeno oatmeal bar to wash my face but I think its been drying me out but I am can’t really afford the good stuff and the medium stuff is rated pretty high on the EWG site. I am using coconut oil at night to moisturize but I would love a better night and day moisturizer that won’t break the bank. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks so much! By the way, I am 33…don’t know if that helps or not. :)
I’m sorry Erin, I meant to make a general comment. Not reply to your comment. I will try to move this to the general comments.
Hi Kim,
Do you have any suggestions for a good face moisturizer?
Love your book/articles!! :)

For those with dry skin, the best moisturizer is organic jojoba oil. Put it on a wet face after washing. It absorbs quickly and is incredible for your skin. I’ve been using it for years and all of my little whiteheads are gone, gone, gone! Everyone tells me I look 10 years younger. And it’s really inexpensive.
I’ll right away seize your rss feed as I can’t find your email subscription link or newsletter service. Do you have any? Please let me recognize in order that I could subscribe. Thanks.
Hello There. I discovered your blog the use of msn.
That is an extremely neatly written article. I will be sure to bookmark it and
come back to learn extra of your helpful information.
Thanks for the post. I’ll definitely comeback.
I’m curious to find out what blog platform you happen to be working with? I’m experiencing some minor security problems with my latest website and I would like to find something more risk-free.
Do you have any solutions?
Thank you sharing all these wonderful posts. In addition, the best travel and medical insurance program can often ease those problems that come with travelling abroad. A new medical emergency can shortly become extremely expensive and that’s likely to quickly decide to put a financial burden on the family finances. Setting up in place the ideal travel insurance bundle prior to leaving is well worth the time and effort. Thank you
Kimberly, what skin care do you reccomend? At the time I am using meaningful beauty.
Hi, my 12 year daughter swims competitively . She practices 6 days a week 2.5 hrs a day so she lives in chlorine
She has acne. We have been to dermatologist and have tried many creams, they burn her skin, also tryed Cleansers over the counter CeravVe, Cetaphil ( sorry about spelling) also burn her skin. It seems no one knows about chlorine and skin , My heart breaks for her, I had acne when I was younger and it makes you so insecure, no matter how much people say your beautiful it does’t help. Is there any cleanser , lotion, fruit , vegetable anything that will help her?
Hi Katie!
I just saw this comment, and it really spoke to me. The best way I was able to clear up my skin was to go on a gluten/wheat, dairy, eggs, meat and sugar free diet. Sounds difficult, but it REALLY works – especially avoiding dairy, wheat and sugar, those are some of the main culprits of acne. As far as products, I have extremely sensitive skin and I am able to function well with the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (found most drugstores) and Organic, Cold-pressed, Unrefined Coconut Oil (can get from Trader Joes or Costco). I would recommend avoiding acne products that are too drying or abrasive, especially ones that have fragrance…NOT good! And coconut oil is antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-micorbial, so it kills the acne that causes bacteria (t.accaneius, I believe) and it is also extremely moisturizing so it will help her chlorine-soaked skin. And it also gives skin a nice, dewey glow that every girl loves. Also, I would make sure she doesn’t touch her skin – or pick it often, because our fingers have a lot of oil and bacteria that can irritate skin. And, as an athlete I’m sure she does this, but just make sure she’s drinking a lot of water, because that helps skin not dry out, which contributes to acne. Oh, and some people think that since coconut oil is an oil it’s bad for acne and will make it worse…but it is not the bad kind of oil (mono vs. poly unsaturated oils) so it will NOT clog pores or aggravate it. And, finally – just make sure she feels beautiful no matter what! Acne can be a struggle, but there are definitely ways to conquer it and hopefully some of these tips will help you conquer it.
i just happened upon this site while looking for info on best non-toxic concealer and foundation, and saw your post. I agree with the previous reply and say look at diet as a source of the acne. I did not have acne problems as a teen, but over the last few years (I am now 40) noticed more and more skin problems — dryness, acne, whiteheads and enlarged pores in my nose due to oil buildup. My mom has a wheat/gluten allergy (that causes much worse issues than just skin) so I decided I should try cutting gluten out of my diet first, and, seriously, in less than a week, my skin was calm and clear. Now, I only need to wear full coverage foundation when I am going out at night and want to look really put together. For the day-to-day stay-at-home-mom work, my skin is even and smooth enough so I can just put on some blush, eyeliner, and lip stain. The health of the colon is so important to skin health, so definitely look into food sensitivities as an added variable in your daughter’s health; lots of chlorine and teenage hormonal changes are already a lot for the body to manage. Maybe lightening the burden by changing diet could ease the path to clear skin.
This is the right webpage for anybody who hopes to understand this topic.
You realize so much its almost tough to argue with you (not that I
personally would want to…HaHa). You certainly put a new spin on a topic which
has been written about for decades. Excellent stuff, just excellent!
I’ve the worst memory! I’ve had a notebook/planner for several years…I actually really don’t understand what I’d personally do without it!
Great that these products are vegan, and though I have not tried specific ‘makeup’ products by vegan have purchased vegan shadow appliators, foundation/brow/and smudge brushes, eyelash wand and curlers and have found that these items are by no means built to last. Flimsy, the shadow applicators fell apart within two days of use, and the bristles on the foundation brush fall off regularly. My hunch is that they are cheap because you are indeed getting what you pay for, vegan or otherwise.
Vegan cosmetics refer to the makeups made with natural and organic ingredients. They do not contain any animal ingredients or any by products. They have never been tested on animals neither.
One of the beauty product, A fresh organic lip-gloss or crackin open a tube of non-toxic mascara. Don’t get me wrong, I love my products. Even with all the clothes in my closet.
