The Secret to Shopping Yourself Slim in the Supermarket

Today, we have a really fun, informative gift for you!

It’s an infographic about the best path to take through the supermarket so that you’re always “shopping slim”.

Get it right here:

grocery_infographic
Click image to see a larger version

As a Beauty Detox reader, you may already be doing a lot of the things you see on the graphic. But still, reinforcing that “aha” that you’ll get from actually seeing and reading it means you’ll never look at the supermarket the same way again (and never ask yourself, “Why is my stool green?” 🙂

Besides, I’m sure there are plenty of people you know who aren’t (yet) walking the Beauty Detox-approved supermarket path—so definitely share this with them!

It could help them increase their consumption of health and beauty foods, change harmful habits, and totally improve their life.

Again, just click the image above to get the infographic now.

And remember that eating healthy doesn’t always have to be expensive…many ask how to eat healthy on a budget and it’s simple: plan ahead!

In Love & Health,

Kimberly

I’m surprised that eggs are listed under the dairy category. In your book you note the misconception that eggs are often mistaken as a dairy product and not a protein.

Do dry beans get lumped with other dry food like prepackaged foods, pastas etc? I had always thought it was healthy to buy dried Legumes like beans and lentils, and split peas. If these would be bad, what about them is bad? I am vegan and can’t have soy and have to limit my gluten intake severely. I get the bulk of my protein from dried beans. I don’t buy the canned ones because of the BPA in the cans themselves.

Also, I don’t see a mention to raw nuts and seeds in this list. How do they fall? Thank you!

This is nice… But what about the quinoa and other recommended grains? Also what is your opinion on Kombucha? If someone is attached to drinking it, what time of day do you think is best?

Kimberly, thank you so much for these very helpful reminders like this that I can keep on my phone at all times. I will have it with me whenever I am out shopping at the market. These extra special goodies are great to have to help us stay on track! I have been living the BD lifestyle for about a year now & it truely has changed my life, the way I eat and the way that I look at food & what I put into my body but most important to me it has helped me to make sure that I keep my precious little boy eating healthy as well!!
Thanks again for these helpful reminders & I am counting the days until I receive my book & the 2 for my loved ones! Sincerely, Cindy

    Hey Kimberly,

Hope your doing good. I just wanted to make a quick comment. First I LOVE you and what you put out there for all of us to learn from. But I am a little upset about the “Buy 3 Books” contest. There are sooooo many of us who have followed you for years and years but may not have the extra money to buy 2 extra books. I made it a point to purchased your new book and support you in all you do. So feel a little left out for not being able to afford 2 more books. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE your books your work and waiting for your yoga DVD. Just wanted to let you know that us out here that can’t get 3 books are still here to support you.

Hi! I have a quick question: You say we should eat spinach before eating anything else, but say we should eat fruit only on an empty stomach. So I assume it’s okay to eat fruit before spinach? 🙂
    thank you for clarifying!

so according to this we are only allowed to consume vegetables and natural vergetable by products?!
this is not a healthy balanced diet!
i have studied nutrition extensively as well as being a qualified personal trainer. and i can tell you these are not the only things a human is designed to eat, calcium found in dairy, protein found in meat, omega 3 found in fish are essential in the health and proper functioning of bones, muscles, joints and vital organs! and while fruite and vegetables should make up a lot of the human diet complex carbohydrates found in rice, corn, seeds, grains and oats are fantastic sources of energy for active bodies

    Kimberly,
This is for your eyes ONLY, please. I appreciate the vast, labor- intensive hours of graphic arts that were no doubt invested in creating “Shopping Slim.” It’s aesthetically appealing, colorful, & beautifully reflects your penchant for detailed organization. I serve as a Mentor for nearly a dozen University graduate students, so was most elated about sharing this “jewel” with them to use as a motivating guide, & to assist them while shopping for healthy eating experiences, which run the gamut amongst this group from paleo to vegan lifestyles. I was really quite stunned by their various reactions, as they are from different disciplines, including Science fields of study. The overwhelming consensus was as follows, from these highly intelligent, sophisticated, & savvy young people. They variously reported that Shopping Slim was visually intimidating, confusing, overwhelming, gave way too much info in such a limited space, that excessive details were not especially helpful, they weren’t sure how to navigate themselves thru it, & some pointed out it should have been targeted for a poster-sized presentation. When I revisited the Chart, with their comments in mind, I could see their perspective on some of these key points. I, however, do “get” your intention with this informational format, & will of course use it myself. However, I know how much you always revere feedback, hence, the reason for my response. Thanks for all your energetic efforts! Much appreciated.

I think it’s fairly simple to understand, if there is a heart, eat, if there is a broken heart, avoid. I think these savvy people are just over thinking it.

I have the same problem. I think I over-think things to the point that it just doesn’t work out. She says “buy local”, but I went to the local farmers (I live in farm land – I’m in the best place for this) and they told me they are not organic and they use GMO seeds. Buy local good – GMO bad. So now what? Then I get to the organic farmers that are two hours away and they don’t have all the things I would buy. So in order to buy all organic, I’d need to spend my entire days traveling from farm to farm or store to store. The thing is, organic food goes bad fast, so I’d have to do that every day. Who has that kind of time? So, then I get stuck – because I don’t know what I should buy anymore. I can think of so many rules why NOT to buy so many things that I’m not buying anything! I read about the “dirty dozen” when it comes to sprays, and then if there is no organic, I feel like I shouldn’t buy any at all. However, then I end up in situations I’m only eating 2-3 things and starving or nutritionally deficient. I was having problems with vitamin B12. So I threw organic out the window and started eating a variety of foods but now I’m eating so much variety, I think I’m eating too much! If an apple cleans out your digestive track, how much apple is required to do that? 1 apple? Half an apple a day? 1 apple a week? If I throw an apple in the juicer does it count? Do I have to eat the peel? Some people eat the seeds, is that calculated as a factor? If I eat 2 does it speed up the process or really make it work better? Are red apples better than green or vice versa? I end up eating both just to be sure. And yellow ones. I could do this with everything on that list. Oh, I totally agree with these “over thinkers”. I tried to apply this diet to my life and it’s not working out. I end up just eating salad and fruit salad every day and then I cheat because I’m bored or none of the rules apply anyway so if I’m going to eat poison sprayed GMO veggies that will kill me, I might as well eat whatever. I really don’t want to do that, but I get stuck in that exact same kind of trap….

    Kimberly,

I am curious to try your lifestyle however have concerns because I want to be able to conceive at age 38 and worry that I will not have enough B12/folic acid, proteins etc. what can I add for lunches/ dinner to ensure adequate levels. Also I am confused on reserch of digestive enzymes. I’ve read that our body can become dependent on them. Can they actually inhibit your body to produce because they are receiving external supplementation? What sour digestive biters?

    Thanks,
    Look forward to your reply,
