I am feeling really humbled at the moment, but at the same time I feel really impelled to share this with you like a news flash…Dreams Really Do Come True: Beauty Detox Foods Hits #2 on the NYT Bestseller List (and is the #1 health/diet/nutrition book in the country!) Yes, dreams do come true!!!
Of course it’s something we’ve all heard a million times, at least in a wish-upon-a-star kind of Disney fantasy way. And if you watch the Oscars or the Olympics you hear those people talking about their dreams, but maybe you think that such goal-achieving “stars” were born with superhuman talent or features or athletic bodies, which you don’t believe you have.
But let me tell you that dreams do come true, for “normal” householder people like me and you! Mine just did, when I was crowned a New York Times Bestseller yesterday! I want you to know that it really does happen. The reality is that we all have an infinite reservoir of creative power and unlimited potential. So if you tap into the infinite power that you have within you, you can achieve your dreams also. Movie stars and Olympic athletes may have different pursuits, but it in no way makes your dreams any less valid…or unattainable. You have to work your butt off, but if you can realize that truly, the potential is there, you would see that you too can make your dreams a reality!
If there is something that stirs you, there is a good chance that a piece of your heart lies in that pursuit, or is at least related to some creative aspect of that subject. That is not something that should be ignored or pushed away. Success will follow you when you follow your passions and inspirations. What inspires you?
For me, ever since I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be a published author. The idea of freely writing about what you love and believe in, and getting paid for it, and getting to spread your ideas spread far and wide into the public consciousness has always definitely been a huge dream of mine. Do you remember the movie Miss Potter? You might have missed it- it’s a tad on the girly, slightly “slow” side, but I love it! Renee Zellweger plays the part of Beatrix Potter, a British author…and anyways, the whole point of my little story on this is that there was a part in the movie where she gazes into the windowfront of a store and sees for the first time her book displayed in a neat little stack in the window. And she whispers to herself in the most satisfied, joyful way (in a British accent)…”I am now a published author!” That part of the movie literally made me sniffle and cry, and touched something in me. Also, my apartment in New York is in Greenwich Village, and I would always wander around the one-way streets reflecting on all the famous writers that used to write in the neighborhood. I too wanted to be a published author!
Some years ago, I mustered up the courage to even thinking about writing a book. I started to pull together some writing samples, and did research on putting together a package for literary agents. I didn’t even think about the book selling well, I was just thrilled at the notion of having my writing published and be in actual bookstores. Who the heck was I anyway? I had only started a tiny nutrition blog that had like 50 readers. I was thrilled when 50 people would read one of my blogs! It didn’t even occur to me to focus on making it a best-seller. Or maybe and probably, I didn’t dare to dream that big.
Things didn’t come together fully for a while, but I kept the dream in sight, as I kept writing away on this same original blog, which has had many design changes since but retains the same heart and spirit of the blog I started years ago. Finally, I finished the writing package, and after many months of sending it out to literary agents, and dozens of rejection letters, Hannah came into my life. Just like that, like a poof of magic. I believe there’s magic in all of our lives, if we are receptive to it. Hannah was a literary agent that believed in me, and we hit it off, and she liked my writing and my philosophy. More months followed as we worked on perfecting a package to go out to publishers with. I loved the writing and editing process, though there were many long and hard nights. I kept the dream in sight. Then we were ready. After more rejections, Sarah showed up. She was an editor from a big publishing house. Another woman who seemed to really understand me from the start…or saw the potential light beneath the muted confidence.
Anyways, we’ll speed up with story now. We worked on the first book, The Beauty Detox Solution, which was an enormous challenge. It took me over a year to write it, and it was a major process to piece the philosophy together in the right way so it would read in a logical and cohesive way. I spent many a long night working on it, and I almost broke down a few times, it was so much solitary and hard work. By that time, I had kept writing on what I believed in, and gotten national magazine and TV attention for my work. I had also attracted celebrity clients, who I started working with (though I didn’t necessarily seek them out or plan to be a “celebrity” nutritionist), and so my prospects for writing an actual successful book seemed brighter.
Dare I dream of being a bestseller? No, you silly thing! I sometimes caught myself telling myself. Just be happy if you can actually publish a book! But I did dare to dream. I would imagine it and started picturing the “bestseller” banner etched on the top of the book. I believed to the core of my being in my philosophy and how it could help others as it helped me, and every day my passion grew. I tried really hard to be a bestseller, and we did a lot of press and threw a big launch party. But I did not make the list.
Then…book #2 was offered. From the start, I verbalized that my dream with book #2, Beauty Detox Foods, was to be a bestseller. I was determined. I started saying affirmations to myself (yes I believe in them!), “I’m a New York Times bestselling author!” when I walked to yoga sometimes- though people walking by thought I was a loony toon. I printed the NYT best seller stamp and taped it to my fridge and bathroom mirror, so my eye was always on the prize.
When I got the call yesterday evening, and both Hannah and Sarah were on the phone, telling me that not only did I make the New York Times Bestseller list, but we made the #2 slot, and Beauty Detox Foods is the topselling health/diet/nutrition book in the country, it was very surreal. Because I could think back to when I first dared to dream about being an author…then allowed myself to dream I could be a successful author. My dream actually came true!
What about you? Are you daring to dream your dreams? Are you pursuing them? It doesn’t have to be limited to career- it could be in learning a skill, a hobby, being a great mom or dad. Maybe you want to start your own business or do something you love. Believe in yourself! Believe in your light and power. If you are really and truly authentically passionate about something, you will be supported if you relentlessly keep your dream in sight. You have to keep pushing forward.
We are all actually drops of consciousness from the Source, so just as one cell gives you a picture of the whole, a drop of the consciousness contains the unlimited potential of the Source. And that is the truth. You can achieve what you dare to dream. You have to dream it first. Then you have to follow up and keep working. But dreams do happen!!!
So if a girl that loved talking about health and inventing recipes in her kitchenette with 1 two-foot counter, that started a tiny nutrition and beauty blog in her tiny apartment can become the author of the topselling nutrition, health and diet book in the country, imagine what you can do!? If you dare to dream. I dare you.
Sending lots of love and gratitude,
Kimberly
Congratulations, Kimberly! I love both books – thank you! :)
Amazing story Kim! I have a insane amount of love for animals, especially dogs, but I can’t seem to come up with an idea that will incorporate this. I live in NYC and am currently in the Real Estate industry, feeling very stagnant because this is not my true passion. I hope I can figure out what my dream is so I can really go for it! I too have always considered trying to write a book, but again I don’t even know where to start, material wise. Nevertheless your story made my eyes get watery with tears of connection, respect and happiness for someone I’ve never met. You go girl!!
Thanks for the good words and encouragement Kimberly! I loved hearing your story :-)
Thank you for your hard work! I am so happy for you in achieving your dreams. I to am achieving my dreams of being healthy and happy on this amazing nutrition plan.
Beautifully said. Kimberly, thank you for the reminder and the encouragement. We all need a little push when we lose sight of our true passions! feeling the love you’re sending out. xoxo
Good ON you, Kimberly – well *done*! The message is an incredibly important one, and the fact that your book is so successful means people are listening!
Hugs,
r
That’s beautiful! Congratulations Kimberly. I’m so happy for you! You are always an inspiration!
Congratulations Kim!!! I am one of the oldschool readers and it does not surprise me that your message has resonated and reached a huge audience. Not only does your nutritional advice get amazing results but it is very obvious from your writing and your spirit that you live your message. I am so, so, so happy for you!
I had been lax on my diet in the winter and suffered for it but starting April 1 I made a commitment to be vigilant about the program to get back on track. I am already having incredibly noticeable results (mostly in my mental state). I also decided starting April 1 to commit to writing 1000 words minimum on my book every day and apply to at least 10 jobs. It’s only day 4 but for the first time ever I’ve stuck with it every day (instead of just when “inspiration” or “motivation” hits) and I’m starting to fall in love with the process instead of the ideal and completion seems possible instead of just a far-off dream. Thank you for sharing your story. Everything is possible! We just have to love ourselves and often that starts with loving our bodies. :)
You truly are beautiful, Kimberly – inside and out! THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations! Awesome and inspiring story! You have been an inspiration to many of us to get healthy.
Sincerely,
Coll
I just received my copy and I cannot wait to read it. Thank you, Kimberly. You are an inspiration.
Kimberly you are nothing short of amazing and I believe your visision, journey and hard work was all a part of a bigger plan…I think you are exactly what the world needed! A breath of fresh air and you have presented health/nutrition in a way that people are actually receptive to! I am a huge fan of yours. I start of everyday with a Dr. Ohira probitioc, glass of lemon water and a glowing green smoothie! Working on cutting out dairy and gluten for good!!! I have suffered from acne my entire life and still do…I’m hoping that making some major changes will improve the quality of my skin as it is my biggest insecurity. You give me hope!
Kimberly,

How beautiful. I’m only 21 and suffer from bipolar disorder and life gets really tough but ever since I found The Beauty Detox Solution and have become a vegan, my moods swings have drastically lowered but still have a lot of work to do.I have the dream of having my own juice bar someday and you truly inspire me. This article has brought me to tears because I connect. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. I’m sure I’m not the only person whose life you have changed.
Love,
Iris Carranza

I’m so happy your dreams are coming true! God bless you Kim:)
Have ordered your books and Amazon have just notified me they are on their way to Australia! Can’t wait to receive and devour them!
CONGRATULATIONS KIMBERLY,
A VERY WELL DESERVED ACCOMPLISHMENT…….KEEP REACHING FOR THE STARS!
Congratulations! Though not at all surprised.
All the best for your continued success (which selfishly for me means continued health).
Congratulations Kim! What an inspiring story. I have to thank you for your first book – it truly changed my life. About a year ago I was feeling run down, exhausted, my skin was breaking out horribly and I knew I needed a change. I went to my doctor and he told me I had allergies and prescribed me a prescription nasal spray! (which I did not fill, and never went back to him) It was definitely not allergies. Then one morning I saw you on the Today Show talking about how your skin is indicative of your overall health – DUH! It made total sense, but it never even occurred to me that what I was eating could affect my skin, and then I realized it was probably the reason I was feeling so sluggish. I bought your book, The Beauty Detox Solution, read it in one day, and WOW was I floored! It lead me to do even more research, and long story short, my fiance and I have been on a vegan, plant-based diet for over a year and I feel better than I ever have! It wasn’t overnight, by any means, but you inspired me to go see a holistic nutritionist, and we did some blood work and found out that I had a Vitamin D deficiency and I had low blood sugar issues. That helped to explain my lethargy. Removing processed and sugary foods helped to balance my blood sugar, and I made sure to take my Vitamin D supplement and get a little sunshine. I also stopped taking birth control, which I had been on for over 10 years, based on your warnings about the harms of artificial hormones and it helped to balance my hormones and clear up my skin. After the first month, my hair started to fall out which was a little scary, but I persevered and made sure I was getting enough calories, and it’s all growing back. I had little baby hairs at my hairline that were annoying because they were hard to tame, but were awesome because it meant my body just needed to detox and start fresh! (To anyone reading this – don’t be alarmed by temporary hair loss. It will grow back after the initial shock of your diet change.) I thank you, my fiance thanks you, the thousands of animals I will save from abuse over my lifetime by not eating meat thank you, and my future babies will also thank you! I feel great every time I choose my plant foods over junk food or meat, and of course I tell everyone I’m with WHY I made that choice. Thanks again!
Hi Kimberly

Congratulations Kimberly! Woo hoo – how wonderful for you!!! All this success is largely because you are helping people to be healthy and happy! Thanks for the inspiring blog – it gives me encouragement to pursue my dreams..once I figure out what they are. Loved your first book and now I need to get the latest!
This is VERY inspiring, and I LOVE your second book!!
Love the book – have tried several of the recipes and they are great!! Thank you for such a wonderful cook book or should I say healthy for life book!
Just read your story to my 15 year old daughter who also dreams big..You are so lovely, happy & normal. You are great. We are Aussies living in Queensland, so thanks for sharing to this part of the world. You go honey. Leonora & Courtney
congrats! I read your first book and then passed it on to my wife. She is really enjoying it too. I’m almost done your new book. Very nice.
Congratulations. I got the book a few days ago and am very excited to start using many of the recipes.
I bought your Beauty Detox book a few weeks ago and I’m glad I did! Really good info on why we should avoid certain foods like dairy and soybeans (which sucks because I actually love tofu) for better health. Trying to consciously avoid those types of foods and include more organic veggies and some of your recipes into my daily meals.
Congratulations Kimberly!
What an inspiring story, so proud of you! Your story has come at a great time for me.
I am in the process of opening a plant based restaurant and elixir bar in NJ called FLOW (Fresh -Live-Organic-Whole) it is still a work in progress and after reading your story, I am even more determined to keep going, even when the going gets tough. I believe that I will make my dream a reality. I have both of your books and love your take on a clean, plant based, gluten free lifestyle.
Thank you for inspiring women (and men) all over the world

I’ve lost over 30 pounds now and feel like a new me, as cheesy as that sounds. Thank you, Kimberly!

You inspired me a lot. I am very excited that I bought your book; I have learned so many health benefits. I love your green smoothie which I make everyday for my whole family. I thank you so much. Now I am addicted to your green smoothie: I tell every person I know about your blog even outside USA. One thing I wanted to share with you is that MORINGA tree ; it’s very nutrient , containers all the essentials Amino Acids which are building blocks of proteins and they are useful for our body. It has 7 times the vitamin C found in Orange. 4 times calcium founding milk. 4 times the vitamin found in carrots. 3 times potassium found in banana. 3 times iron found In Almonds. It balances diabetic, healthy skin, improves sensory perception, decreased depression and anxiety. For more info go to Treesforlife.org see the power point presentation. Again thanks for making me and my family stay healthy. God Bless You.
Congrats! You are my idol! (: Love you! Hope you meet you one day! -Cindy, Arlington Texas

Congratulation!!! Thank you for the inpiration! Looking forward to make my dream come true!
Congratulation! You deserve it! I am so thankful for you and can’t wait to see what you’ll do next.
I have children your age, so whenever I hear or see of a young person who works very hard to pursue their dreams, I truly wish them all the best! You keep moving forward and stay true to yourself. Peace & Love,
Yvonne
Hey Kimberly, I just wanted to let you know this post brought tears to my eyes. I have been a huge follower of yours from the beginning and you don’t know how much of an inspiration you have been to me. Reading your first book not only brought me to a complete state of health but inspired me to leave my job which I didn’t enjoy and study a degree in nutrition (which I am still completing now). I have always had such huge dreams but sometimes feel very doubtful they will come true. However I never doubt my passion for nutrition and reading blog posts like this really make me believe I can achieve my dreams. You should know that you, your blog and your both your books have changed my life completely. Thank you so much xxx
I’ve been reading your blog for a year or so, but this is my first time commenting. :) I wanted to let you know how touching this post is; it literally brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for the inspiration, and congrats on making the NYT bestseller list! I purchased Beauty Detox Foods and am loving it; I can’t wait to go grocery shopping this weekend and make my first batch of Glowing Green Smoothie!
Congratulations Kimberly! You deserve all the accolades for your triumph and for fighting the good fight
and for making the world a better, healthier place. Peace and love be with you always. Quentin
Beautiful story Kimberly!! Just today I was feeling a bit down wondering where I’m going in my life. I really needed to read this today. I’m truly happy for you. I get excited everytime I hear people on the streets mentioning your book as well! :)
Also…
I know you’ve heard(or read?) this before, but you literally changed my life. I am so soo grateful I came across your first book (and saw you on Dr. Oz :p). I suffered from severe eczema, asthma, depression, anxiety, being overweight, infertility, being borderline diabetic…
I never thought that changing my diet was the answer to all of that. I never thought I could feel this fantastic or feel this confident in myself. Thank you thank you THANK YOU!
-Meghan
I love this and I’m so happy for you. Thanks for inspiring me.
I am so very happy for you. You deserve it for
being such a great human being. You are
authentic and so caring. It’s nice to see that
there are still people like you. I have noticed
that you reach out to everyone. Keep being
yourself, beautiful, simple and down to earth.
Much continued success and thank you for
helping us to improve our health. I bought
three books, one for me and two as gifts.
Diana
Hi Kimberly,
I love this blog post. It’s so inspiring and was exactly what I needed to hear today. I have written you an email today to tell you just how much you have influenced my life; even my career- I am a certified health coach now and studying nutrition at IIN. Hope you get a chance to read the whole thing.
All my best, Danielle
Well done!! You deserve it.
Your blog is so inspiring!
Thank you xo
Yay! Congratulations, Kimberly. You are a shining light and a huge inspiration to me. :)
That was very inspiring. I really needed that. Holistic health and wellness is my passion, but the thought of failing at my entrepreneurial attempts cause me to stall my work’s progress. I have to keep reminding myself that there is just as much chance to succeed as to fail, so why not focus on succeeding? I read somewhere once that whatever the mind dwells on, the mind works towards. I plan to focus on succeeding! thank you for your post :)
Kimberly —
Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your journey with us… and encouraging everyone to Follow Their Dreams — it can work out! (Although I think it helps to have a heck of a lot of passion, and a message that people want to hear.) I must say that I have some version of your GGS almost every morning and am much the better for it.
Enjoy the ride!
ps — a very minor point. At the beginning of one par, you have — “Anyways, we’ll speed up with story now…”
With all due respect, “anyways” is not a word. Should read “Anyway,”
Congratulations, Kimberly! I am so happy for you!!! I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Book #2. I ordered my Kindle copy so I could read it immediately. I will eventually get the paperback, too. For Book #1, I did the reverse, I bought the paperback and then ordered the Kindle version. I am also a member of your Glowing Lean System. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful way of living!
Huge Congratulations Kymberly, you have inspired me to eat my greens, im healtier that ever, Thank you!!!
Kimberly,
I can’t even begin to describe how much your words inspire me. Your first book, The Beauty Detox Solution, changed my life (for the better)! I began to follow you on your blog, and put your plan to action.
I’ve always been passionate about health and nutrition, and unfortunately am not in that field today. I keep contemplating the idea of going back to school, getting my degree and furthering my career in nutrition as this is truly what I’m passionate about. I started a blog called sofreshnsogreen.wordpress.com because you inspired me to. I share your tips and knowledge with anyone and everyone I can because I truly believe in it and want everyone I know to be as happy and healthy as possible.
Please keep on doing what you’re doing, you truly are making a difference. If you can do it I have confidence I can too!
Thank You for inspiring me to dig a little deeper. I appreciate YOU!
so happy for you kimberly.god bless u.

Miss Kimberly, I’ve only just begun reading Beauty Solution, but I love your writing. It’s detailed, informative, and from the heart. You are obviously passionate about what you’re telling your readers and people respond to that. I, too, believe in the power of pursuing your dreams and trusting that the Universe will take care if you. This blog post was incredibly inspirational, as is your writing. Congrats on all of your successes!

Hello Kimberly
Love your story and it does inspire me to pursue my dream of opening up a Healthy Happy place when adults and children can come and sip their way to great health and great times. I have this idea in my head for over a year now and I have to pursue it. But sometimes I just do not know how to start or go about it. Finance plays a big part as well but that is something that I working on. For example Non dairy seasonal smoothies, seasonal juicing, real hot cocoa, tea made from fresh tea leaves, organic coffee in the near future. I gave up eating meat over three years ago and I feel great. I recently went on Gluten, Dairy, Caffene and Meat free 2013 Action Plan and I dropped a whopping 15 lbs in less than two months. The meat and dairy was easy not to miss because I don’t eat meat or dairy anymore, I had my sister come on board with me and she lost 15 lbs as well and the good news she has not gone back to eating meat. I follow your blog all the time. Keep up the great work and I did buy your first book and will be buying this one as well. Thank you
Congratulations! I loved reading about how your success happened. About a month ago, I got a copy of your first book from the library. I’m trying now to transfer my husband and 3 kids from the SAD diet to a plant, based diet. They’re pretty good sports, but it is definitely challenging. I just got your 2nd book in the mail and am looking forward to trying some of the recipes. Congrats again and may God continue to bless you!
you are a true and honest soul. This is just the beginning for you. I hope to see many NY bset sellers from you.
All I have to say is CONGRATS !!!! CONGRATS!!!! and CONGRATS !!!! I am so happy for you and even though I haven’t met you personally you are one of the sweetest and genuine individuals I have came across with, and again thank you so much for working so hard in order to help us !
Congratulations Kimberly, you deserve it :)
Kimberly, I hope you will Keep on dreaming big, because many (like me!) are inspired by your dreams coming true! I pray peace and balance encompass you as you bask in the glow of your success!

This is so heartwarming. I myself am very passionate about my dreams but it is inspiring stories like yours that resonate and reach people like myself. Through my faith in God I stumbled upon your first book. Let me tell you that I was instantly hooked every morning until I finished it. I thought to myself how amazing it was to finally find the information I was looking for.It was so easy to understand and I could totally feel the passion of loving to share beautiful information. I always wanted to know what the heiroglyphics on nutrition lables meant. I wanted control of what I was eating, and eating what God intended me to eat. I wanted the truth behind the líes of the corporations. I wanted to be empowered about the food I ate. Because of your beautiful gift, your book is helping me accomplish my goals. And I do this all with less stress, energy, better sleep, less carvings, all while in the best mood ever. All of this thanks to your wisdom. Thank you for always beleiving in yourself, because it helped me beleive in me
WOW! YAY! Thank you for such inspiration, courage, strength, and passion to follow your dreams and bringing reality to them. What you dared to dream brought health and happiness to many, including myself who is grateful for everything you have shared and enlightened my life, health and happiness. I took my 13 year old daughter for a three day trip to Chicago last week. I walked past Borders several times until I finally decided to go in and buy this book. I have been wanting it for a long time. I couldn’t put it down. I love it. Now, it’s right on my kitchen counter opened to page 170 so I can make my glowing green smoothie. It’s so delicious and so easy. Thank you Kimberly!
Aw! Kimberly, you deserve it! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and sweet encouragement! Congrats! I love your books (as do my sisters!) and I love introducing others to it! All the best, Deborah.

This is so inspiring! Thank you Kimberly for sharing this. I’m so happy for you. This is so awesome. I’ve been a fan of yours for about 2 years now when I discovered you one morning on either GMA or the Today Show. I had been looking for something that I could read about detoxing and really having a new way of life. Thank you for following your passion and showing us how to be healthy. Xo
