The recipe looks great, but where do I find hemp seeds? They look suspiciously like seeds that procude some hemp that is illegal. I’m not being synical; it’s a legitimate question.
Hi Kimberley –
Great looking salad. Just wondering whether you need to soak hemp seeds?
Thanks a lot –
This salad looks great! I found some hemp seeds and bought them, and then upon looking closer at the packet, I read that consuming hemp seeds is illegal in Australia, and it is only to be used as a skin care product. So bummed! At least there is a nice recipe for hemp body cream, so I’ll have to try that…
I have reflux and cannot eat tomatoes or onion. Do you have other substitions?
Thank you Kim you ARE an inspiration
Thanks for all your tips, I love your glowing green smoothie I feel so much more energetic. I have always wanted to do yoga but I was always to busy around the house but thanks to your videos and your
recipes I’m feeling more fit and healthy.
For this recipes are you using broken or complete hemseeds?
And could we use both?
Kimberly………would you kindly make your wonderful recipes “printer friendly?” This would be a great help.
I have not eaten hemp seeds YET…,are they cooked for this salad or just raw?
Hemp seeds are just a raw seed like a sesame seed. All you have to do is toss them into the salad… no preparation required. They are high in a ton of valuable nutrients.
I will try tonight
I have not seen Hempseeds in my Health Foods Store here in New Zealand, can you replace them with Quinoa or some other seed?
Hello, maybe this is a silly question, but are the hemp seeds shelled or not? Are they not very hard to be down on?
Sorry, that meant to say ‘bite down on’
Hi kimberly, I was wondering if you could explain why you say to drink a pint of water with a probiotic I’ve always been taking them with a meal. Love your recipes! xxx
This looks and sounds delicious!! I love Tobouli and look forward to trying it with Hemp Seed.
A good friend told me about your site and it is fabulous! I love like-minded people!! I have lots of customers who would be interested in your information and plan to share your website as soon as possible! I believe education is the key and I love how you explain WHY you put specific ingredients in your recipes! Awesome! Have you heard of the book by Dr. Mitra Ray entitled: “Do You Have the Guts to be Beautiful?” It is all about how our diets affect everything from bowels to our skin. It is an excellent resource. Also, I would like to tell you about Juice Plus if you haven’t hear of it already. It is fruits, veggies and berries in a capsule! Yes, we need to eat our produce but for those times we don’t, won’t or can’t, Juice Plus is there! They have a brand new skin care study you may be interested in too which is one of 29 published studies done on it. Sorry to sound like an infomercial…I just am passionate about helping people get healthier like you and wanted you to know about it if you have not been exposed to it before.
Keep up the excellent work of teaching people about nutrition!!! Have a wonderful day!!
I’m still trying to become acquainted with using seeds and grains I haven’t used before. Should the hemp seeds be soaked overnight first? Thanks for your help!!
I believe it would have been more clear if it would have said shelled hemp seeds. Those can be eaten as is, no soaking required.
YES Kim! Please explain how to cook, prepare, buy hempseeds!!!
You can buy hemp seeds – also called hemp hearts – at any health food store or a conventional grocery store that has a focus on organic food. Hemp Hearts typically come in a zip locked package in pound bags. You do not need to cook them. They are ready to use right out of the bag.
About the taste – they have a lovely mild nutty flavour and go with just about anything. I put them on salads, in veggie wraps and in smoothies.
I’m from Canada and I buy Manitoba Harvest brand and I only buy organic. You can read up on Hemp Hearts here: http://manitobaharvest.com/
Good luck finding them. It is worth the search – really it is.
i have both of your books, which i really enjoyed. i’m looking for more recipes, especially foods for dinner and
deserts. i’ve looked in the book store. i don’t seem to find any cookbooks that sort of follow your theory, which seems to suit my body very well. are you coming out with a new cookbook, or can you recomend one
for me. i really could use your help.
look for Alicia Silverstone’s “The Kind diet”, she’s not as delightful as Kimberly, but sure has plenty of healthy ideas and pretty much goes along with what Kimberly is all about. Good luck.
I have never used hem seed before, do you use the shell o rtf it discarded like th he peanut shell?
Hemp seeds are always super-foods and give unlimited health benefits. Love to get introduced to a new recipe.
Wonderful! Let me know what you think and thanks for checking this out. Lots of love! 😉
