Today I have a quick tutorial for you on how to get into a basic yoga handstand, without the help of a wall for support. It may be a bit daunting for some of you at first, but remember to always push yourself to move away from your comfort zone and push your limits.
If you’re new, absolutely use a wall for a while, keeping your hands a few inches from the wall. If you’re game to try in the middle of the room, move the furniture! It might take years to get into handstand (I think it took me 3 years from when I started practicing), but keep trying and your body will learn it, so long as you keep the right form.
If you’re advanced and want to learn how to do a handstand with no kicking up at all, check out the second video.
This always reminds me of pregnant ladies (ones only a few months in lol!) who try to do handstands, and it was so funny watching them. Afterwords, we would always chat and I would tell them about what foods to eat while pregnant and they would always complain about cutting back on sugars, but I always told them “there is hope!”
Hope you find this video helpful!
Namaste,
Kimberly
Hi Kimberly, what you do is amazing! Thank you for your great adv ice on how to keep glowing. What type of Yoga do you practice (I want to know where I can learn how to do this) ?!
I have trouble with my right wrist. It’s very painful and can not bear any weight so I will never be able to do anything like this. :(
I also have the same issue. :( For us it is possible to do the ones with the forearms on the floor.
Love your yoga mat….may I ask where you purchased it? or who makes it?
Hello Kimberly
PLEASE PLEASE, can you help your followers clearing up if there is or not a danger with Polyunsaturated fatty acids PUFAs ? ( https://www.naturalnews.com/035015_PUFAs_health_fatty_acids.html )
I thought eating half of an avocado daily was actually healthy but now I am afraid it might just be the contrary.
Thank you very much
Regards
Rob
Wow! You are so incredible!!! You are such an inspiration!! Thanks
Gosh Kimberly!! You make this look so easy! I am taking Yoga twice a week now. I hope I get as good as you in the future :)
it took me a while! keep at it :)
Yes, what is the black yoga mat in the recent video? Does it have grippers where the spots are? Can you tell us the brand? I have been following your methods for over a year now and will never look back! Thank you so much for your literature!
Now about reading the above information I resonate with this since its valid so it’s nice reading from a person that is telling it on the internet to think about.
Did I hear something about a YOGA VIDEO!! I’m so excited! I’m doing Tracy Anderson now. Does Yoga count as cardio or muscle strength? I’m blood type A, so I benefit more from relaxing excercises than heavy cardio.
Heather, I am also blood type A(+). I’ve always done high cardio workouts never having heard that blood type A benefits more from relaxing type exercises. Where can I read up on this? If you have a link, please share!
Hi, Heather! I did Tracy for almost 2 years and loved it EXCEPT that it eventually killed my wrists and I badly hurt my shoulder using the two weights in one hand (although I love her arm concept and moves). I now do Fluidity, which also works all the muscles, sort-of a combination of pilates, yoga and ballet stretches. Re: the A-type info, you can get that in the “Eat for your Blood Type” book. That used to be my food bible; now it’s Beauty Detox.
I was excited to discover this site. I want to to thank you for
ones time for this wonderful read!! I definitely loved every bit of it and I have you bookmarked
to look at new information on your blog.
SO glad I stumbled upon your site. Your comment about the pregnant women trying this intrigued me. Does cutting the sugar help your balance/ability to do the hand stand? Are pregnant women out there attempting this? I had my 3rd baby a year ago and my abs are so weak…cutting sugar is helping me lose weight hell if I can do hand stands too I am all in!
Hi Cecily! As you know, there are good sugars and not-so-good sugars. I eat plenty of fruit, which is technically sugar but nothing refined. I also tend to eat low fat so that the sugar is less likely to get caught up in the bloodstream. (As I explain in the books.) In terms of handstands during pregnancy, I would error on the safe side and say no as handstands are challenging even without carrying a baby. Definitely consult with your doctor or medical practitioner before doing anything while pregnant.
Kimberly, I’m a believer in Beauty Detox. I feel better than I have in years; even my IBS is better. Re: yoga. can you recommend yoga videos (I like to exercise at home)? Do you have a favorite instructor who does videos? I don’t need to do a hand or head stand, just want to get back into yoga.
your yoga mat is beautiful .can u tell me where you purchase this mat ?
Thanks so much Liliana! I personally love and use Manduka yoga mats. I’ll share a link here: https://amzn.to/3lMN8M0 Happy shopping and hope you find one that works for you! So much love! Xo
