If you use a few of the right products and organic makeup brands, you really don’t need to use too much, which is better for your skin (and your wallet!). I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite products, and wearable pieces as well!
1. Sally B’s Foundation & Get Even Powder
I first found Sally B’s very organically (pun intended!) when she put a few products in the welcome bags for the actors of a film I was working on. There was an extra bag :)…. so I went through it and started trying her stuff, and have been using it ever since.
I really like the Sally B’s Foundation & Get Even Powder.
A lot of popular mineral makeups contain ingredients like bismuth oxychloride which may possibly aggravate acne. Sally B’s products do not (and are also paraben-free), and they give a great finish. I put the foundation powder all over. The powder foundation feels so much lighter to me than a heavy liquid, for regular use, and you don’t have to use a bronzer and a powder all over either. I put a little powder in my T zone only, where I get oily and shiny.
Below, wearing Sally B’s foundation and powder in Atlanta this past week. Pictured with fabulous eco activist Laura Turner Seydel.
2. Brass Engraved Springbok Horn Collar by K/LLER Collection
Okay so I think I’ve worn this necklace 80% of the days since I got it a few months ago. I love it sooo much! It’s great for day and night- for dressing down and dressing up. It has a substantial, quality weight to it, which I like, and it looks great layered or alone.
Do yourself a favor and give yourself a little pressy! You’ll love this necklace, as I truly do.
3. Gunmetal Double V Bracelet by K/LLER Collection
I also love this bracelet by K/LLER collection, which by the way is a talented indie duo team working out of Brooklyn on these wonderful creations! I wear it high up on my forearm near my elbow.
4. Brass Crescent Stalactite Earring by K/LLER Collection
Ah….and yes, these earrings. They swing around and I love them.
5. Vapour Courtesan Blush
This is still my go-to, all time favorite blush! It gives a natural rosy look and it lasts quite a while. Made of 70% Certified Organic ingredients and 30% mineral pigments and vitamins, it also contains anti-inflammatory and antioxidant-filled frankincense, tulsi and lotus flowers. It looks and works great without scary and aging chemicals. This is one blush I happily put on my face!
6. Tarte Amazonian Clay Mascara
It took me a while to find a natural mascara I can really recommend and love. I have sensitive eyes, so this one is important to me. I love this Tarte mascara!! It contains Amazonian clay that can hep replenish and nourish dry lashes, and also has rice wax that helps lengthen lashes. It is free of parabens, gluten, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfates and mineral oil. It’s about the one thing I journey over to Sephora to buy :).
7. Asha Patel Labradorite Tusk
Here’s my other favorite necklace! I do have a special interest in the properties of various stones, and labradorite is very special. It has a brilliant iridescent blue sheen, and is said to provide clarity, intuition and inner strength. It sort of feels like you’re wearing a magic princess stone!
I love it, and often layer it.
9. 7th Generation Laundry Detergent
I know this may feel a bit random but I want to bring natural detergents to your attention. Though you may buy organic food and drink clean water, I was recently reading some scary literature on how synthetic, chemical-filled detergents can get on (and in) your skin via the residue that stays on your clothing.
So I’m 7th Generation all the way in this regard! (I kind of love doing laundry now that I am more in LA and have a washer and dryer, versus hauling it down the street like I had to do in New York!).
10. Lorna Jane Yoga Wear
This is an Aussie-based active wear company that I’ve been recently introduced to, and I love their stuff! They have so many great tops and flattering bottoms. My favorite shirt is this red and white striped number, which I’ve been wearing and wearing and wearing…
Enjoy!
Love, Kimberly
Love the mascara recommendation!!
I wondered if you had thought about putting where one can purchase these favorite things? How much do they cost?
That would have been helpful to me.
Thank you.
Janet
You glow, girl! Great tips….thanks for sharing.
Just wondering if i am able to get those jewellery pieces in New Zealand?
Thanks
Thanks for all the tips but I really appreciate the mascara article. Where can I purchase this mascara?
Thanks again!!
Sheila C
I am a bit concerned about your necklace made from springbok horn.
Does this mean they kill these beautiful creatures for their horn the same as they do elephants and rhinos
If so, you should not be advocating this product.
Kind Regards
Vickie
It is not made from the animal…if you go to the jewelers website you would see that it is a piece of brass, made to look like a horn.
Love the products, but you forgot about products you use for your hair. :)
hey kimberly, what about face and body moisturizers, serums, toners, etc?
Hi Kim,
Thank you for the wonderful above recommendations. Would you also mind commenting on other makeup products you use/recommend – lipstick/gloss, eyeliner, eye shadow and bronzer?
Thank you so much!
Hello Kimberly,
I appreciate this article! I am a dude and a very manly one at that LOL. That being said I have taken the lead of putting good things in my , my Brides and childrens body. I have been blending for over 4 months now. I just got a vitamix last week yaaaaay. Anyways I didn’t relate to many of the things but you got me thinking about the detergent. I look forward to trying your GGS next week or so when i resupply with produce. God bless.
Shelby
Where do you buy your make up?
Kimberly
I would like to know what skincare, haircare and all makeup products you use.
I am in the process of transitioning to a Beauty Detox lifestyle but not quite there. It is a goal and very difficult to do around 3 growing kids and family who are used to eating differently. I would love to get as slim and toned as you. My hair is falling off and I have to battle this. I am so desperate now with all the issues that I have – thyroid, hair loss, high LDL, etc. So any advice you can give would be appreciated. I would love to just visit with you for a consultation and get on a program.
Thanks.

Such a neat look into You. :) Thanks for sharing. You are a neat lady and have such a radiance in all you do. You definitely have life under control and your desire to help others is such a blessing!
I really appreciate your input on cosmetics. I am doing one change at a time for my family, I have really come along way in the last 8 years. My next major change is going to be in the cosmetic department. I value and trust what you say, so i will use your recommendation. Trusting products and manufacturers today is very scary and I’m so thankful for what you do. Your part is helping change the planet. I will do my little part too!
Thank you! I always look forward to what you have to say!
PS. I have also started trying alot of your recipes in The Beauty Detox book, have cut way back on meat and dairy and have noticed a TREMENDOUS difference in my digestive track. :)
Hi Kimberly,
A while back I found a comment from you about natural mascara, you said you liked Tarte’s Lights Camera Lashes and that they also made a waterproof formula. I tried the waterproof and do like it, my lashes don’t get stiff. Just wondered if you’ve changed favorites from Lights Camera Lashes to the Amazonian Clay? I also used Seventh Generation laundry detergent but found their powdered formula gets more things out than the liquid in case you have kids or a husband !

All the jewelry is pretty – and waaaaay too expensive!
It’s a shame that natural/organic items are so expensive. Hopefully as people become more aware of them the price will go down. I try to do as much organic as possible but some are just too expensive.
Hi Kimberly, I look forward to your texts & must say I enjoy ggs every day. I am trying to eat healthier. I now use almond milk and I love it. I do struggle not eating bread as I bake my own and it’s delicious. I need to lose a stone in weight & I am not losing anything. I eat three meals a day, never snack & I am active. I am Almost 60 years old & I am very conscious of being over weight. I weight 9st 5lb. You may have guessed I am from great Britain?
Thanks so much. Irene
Thank you so much for all your useful information. I really appreciate the tips on the kinds of cosmetics you recommend as I am currently looking for a face powder that is chemical free. I already use 7th Generation products and love them as they are not that expensive to use.
A product that I love to use is Skincerity as it has done wonders for my acne (menopausal outbreaks) and has also been a Godsend for my friend who has psoriasis.
Keep up the good work!
Colleen Moniuk
Please note that the 7th Generation Laundry Detergent contains “Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.”
