Have you ever had moments where you were so fully present in the moment—so engaged in the “now”—all thought and mental chatter just seemed to disappear?
Perhaps you were floating in the ocean. Or you lost yourself in the middle of a dance. Or felt the presence of the divine while sitting someplace beautiful, such as in the forest or mountains. Even the split second your heart felt like it was going to burst while hugging a child.
Try to remember how complete and at peace you felt during a moment of total silence or stillness. Close your eyes if necessary. If you can breathe in and let your mind be without thought or judgment, even for one moment, you quickly get a glimpse into who you really are.
It’s at these times we learn that we are much more than our past, our image, or our perceived outer identity (ego).
Whatever name for higher consciousness or God or spirit you wish to use, whatever your religious beliefs—these rare moments of perfection reveal there is a “self” inside us that cannot be explained by mere words. This higher “self” is within us always, and through the right understanding, it can come forth and be realized.
Going Beyond Physical Health
Health and the physical body are excellent places to start, and a very important early focus. After all, if you are sick or low in energy, it’s hard to give proper attention or care to areas beyond what you’re physically feeling.
Everything is interconnected, and thus obtaining the right nutrients—whether it’s minerals from seaweed and kale, B vitamins from nutritional yeast, antioxidants from fruit, or any others—will always be important.
Especially because, through the process of healthy eating, detoxification and proper nutrition—you experience far more energy, clarity and vitality. This fills your body with new passion and vigor that can then be channeled into other areas of life, including the journey inward.
I’ve seen this occur in myself and so many others. Of course, I LOVE food and health and all the empowering nutrition information I uncover and share. I will always do so, especially here on this blog. I just also understand that food and diet is just the first step in the greater journey of self-realization.
And I feel drawn to devote more and more time to that, both here and on the new community forum we’ve created, which we’ll happily be announcing soon (along with an exciting contest!) More on this in just a moment.
Understanding This Profound Process
As I’ve worked with so many different private clients over the years—I’ve come to understand that the mental, emotional and spiritual dimensions of health are every bit as important as the physical. And yet, because they are less concrete, they often don’t receive nearly the same level of attention.
For that reason and more, I’ve spent extensive time working to understand and communicate the process by which you or anyone can go deeper and access levels of wellness and fulfillment beyond mere food and diet. The process is depicted in the image below:
Now, let me explain each phase in more detail:
1) Align with your true self. This is about feeling and becoming aware of the “YOU” beyond all the noise, beyond your past, beyond your thoughts. It’s about how you feel—on a much deeper level—right now. What are your thinking about from moment to moment? What are the feelings and emotions underlying those thoughts? What sensations arise in your body as you connect and become more self-aware?
There are many techniques for better connecting to yourself in this way, from meditation to yoga, and much more. They are all valuable. And yet connecting with yourself in this way is also as simple as being mindful or present, watching and feeling what’s happening inside without judgment or labels.
2) Evolve on your unique journey. This is where you choose to move forward and explore new dimensions of yourself. It’s where you seek to grow and flower. It’s about getting started and taking positive action—ANY ACTION—that moves you forward.
For some, it might mean making a Glowing Green Smoothie each day. Or drinking hot water with lemon in the morning. Others may choose to begin a yoga practice, or take their existing yoga practice more seriously. For you, it may even be journaling or meditation or another positive activity.
Everyone can take the path forward, and yet no two people have exactly the same journey. We are all unique in this regard and there is beauty in how each of our paths evolve and unfold.
3) Realize your inner power. The more you connect to your true self, the more authentically powerful you become. You are less distracted or limited by outside things or people that aren’t aligned with your growth, and more drawn to those with whom you can serve and share the movement upward.
As you embrace this stage, you feel less of the urge or need to “force” yourself to do anything—and more empowered to just be. Eating healthy becomes much more natural, it will require less effort because you’ll be more in tune with your true needs. Exercise (whichever form you choose) becomes a deeper, more profound expression of your body’s energy. Everything just flows.
I’m Here to Support You on this Path
While I will certainly share much more about this process and movement here on the blog and elsewhere, I want to wrap up this post by further discussing a new upcoming site and support tool we’ve created to help you flourish.
As I mentioned, the new Realize Yourself site will feature a special support forum where you can interact with other members of the community, assisting each other on this journey.
Whether you have questions about your health, emotions, mind or spirit—once it’s live, I highly encourage you to check in as much as possible, as you’ll be able to use this new, upcoming site and forum as a free daily resource. It’s meant to be a flexible, adaptable tool that helps you grow and evolve in all aspects of your being, the whole you, in whatever ways you need most.
The Next Level of Your Journey
Let me conclude by letting you know how awesome you truly are. I mean that! The fact that you’re reading this post—indeed this sentence, right now—means that you’re willing to do what it takes to transform your health, and at the same time, go beyond great health into beautiful new areas of life. It means you also care about connecting to the deep, unseen truth of who you are—as mystical as that sounds.
You are already perfect and whole. And as a community we can work to discover and further awaken the limitless health, beauty and joy that are already inside you now. I feel so blessed that I can connect with you here—and in many beautiful new ways and channels as the “realize yourself” message and mission unfolds.
While I will always share and communicate the importance of nutrition, my role is also evolving into new areas and I consider myself a “heart warrior”—someone who fiercely stands for the growth and inner evolution of you and everyone in this community.
Just as I share nutritional information, so will I also share insights from other areas that I’ve discovered along my path, in my work, my journeys, working with clients and serving this community over the years.
Thank you for taking this journey with me—please know we have so many adventures yet in store.
Your humble heart warrior,
Kimberly
Awesome – I absolutely love it! I’ve been feeling the draw to connect all these aspects (nutrition + higher power) for myself and also through my blog posts and helping others, even if it’s just sharing advice. Thank you for shining and being you Kimberly! <3
Thanks Jennifer! I’m so grateful we have those like you in the community who understand this and want to grow in addition to food and nutrition!
Thanks for sharing your ability to communicate such a powerful lesson in cultivating true health balance and beauty. I too have been on a similar journey as yours aiming to evolve spiritually and physically while inspiring others to do the same. Teaching nutrition, aesthetics and fitness is the easy part…. The one you have done so beautifully above is the difficult. Thank you for transmitting such peace and positivity , I will continue to follow your journey. Cheers from Barcelona . Antiageingsavantess
Your welcome Jelena! Bless you for understanding being part of this, it’s our journey together as one worldwide community :)
Hey! I can’t believe it!! Are you from Barcelona? Because I am!! How unexpected! I have been following Kim’s blog for a while but I’ve never found anything like this before. I’ m glad to see I’ m not the only one Kim’s knowledge has reached over here! :)
Align, Evolve, Realize- namaste !
Namaste to you :)
Kim, words can’t expressed what you’ve done to change my life!! I first started on this journey to lose weight, then it blossomed into something so much more. I view life and the people around me with love and I choose to love myself, which was unheard of back then. I realize myself more and more every day
Ahhh, so touching Julia, thanks for sharing. Stay tuned for much more in this area, as there are many just like you who have shed weight and gotten healthier through the principles, but also thirst for continual evolution inside as well.
Hi, thanks for sharing this and congratulations on the new topic! I cannot wait to read more on this.
I want to take the opportunity to say it’s been a while I was asking myself what can be different in glowing lean in compare to two books you wrote? I watched the video but it’s too long and I couldn’t get a short simple clear answer. Could you answer my question in just couple of lines please? Thanks
Very inspiring! :)
Kimberly,
You are beautiful inside and out. Thank you for putting all of this into words…every bit of it resonated with my true authentic self. :)
In good health,
Energizer Bonnie
You are absolutely correct that that the mental, emotional and spiritual dimensions of health are every bit as important as the physical. I have been following your nutrition advice and I am so excited about this next level of our journey and discover and learn. Thank you for all that you do. You are beautiful inside and out.
Just recently purchased the glow lean system, and although i am literally just beginning, this blog post has really spoken to me!!! I have been lost the past few years, very lost, and have been looking for some kind of beacon, something I can connect too, to help get me out of this “funk”, which is the easiest way to describe the past few years of completely losing myself and the essence of me! I look in the mirror and do not recognize the person staring back at me on many different levels. Somehow by chance, I caught a few minutes of you on Queen Latifa’s show, I believe that was it, but anyhow, was immediately intrigued! I did some research, bought the system, and then today received this email link to this blog. I feel like it was definately something I was meant to see at the prime moment!! I remember what good nutrition, and health of mind and spirit are like and can’t wait to find it again. Along with giving myself this gift, I also want to give this gift to my daughter !! I look forward to embark on this journey with you and hope that I can find my way again, find the real me again!! Thank you for sharing your passion with us and helping to motivate me to finally start the transformation that is long overdue!!! Will definitely share my outcome! Much love, Meredith
Amazing! What a blessing to find this community of heart warriors. I have been working on improving my nutrition for the past year but am increasingly finding my journey to be more and more spiritual. Looking forward to digging deeper while continuing to learn about my body and it’s nutritional needs.
You’re very welcome Shelly! Yes, we’ll absolutely be covering it all, so stay tuned…
Thank you for inspiring me more Kim. I have to admit that I have been struggling in making time to cook all the nutritious foods that you are teaching and with many emotions. Today, after reading these awesome words I am more convince than ever that this is the path I want and need in my life to help myself achieve better health and to also help my son with his food allergies. Thank you Kim for all that you teach us! ( :
Hello Carina, well, it sounds like you have the awareness of what is best for you, so it’s simply a matter of walking the path. Keep going! We’ll be here to support and encourage you every step of the way, right here on the blog.
Hi Kimberly,
I really enjoy your newsletters and emails – they are very informative and inspiring and they keep my hope alive that I can achieve great health, not just physically but mentally and emotionally too. I was wondering though, will you ever take on “regular” clients eventually or have you reached your capacity? As helpful as the books and your website are, I’d like one-on-one time to tailor an eating plan that’s more specific to my unique challenges I face.
Also, if you wouldn’t mind, what advice would you give to someone who has age spots (i.e. liver spots) and wants to really get rid of them? They are really awful looking on my face.
Many thanks and love,
Kyung
Thank you Kimberly, you have been a mentor and a blessing in my life, I have looked up to you and learned so much from you and done major positive life changes inspired by you and other incredible people.
Xo
Thank YOU for the kind words Renida! We are all together in this, so keep it up.
Dear Sweet Kimberly,
I don’t know if you’ll ever get this but I just want to say, I think you are an amazing human being!! To spend your time and energy helping others on such a deep level is the most wonderful gift anyone could ever give and you do it so sweetly. I feel like your an angel that came here to spread light, love, joy, and health to the whole world. I want to thank you form the bottom of my heart for every word you have ever shared with me. I have both of your books and with the emails I get from you almost daily, you have kept me on a great path.
Thank you so much for all you give!
Love and light to you always!
Judy
Wow, Judy. Beautiful thoughts. Much appreciated–we are lucky to have you in the community!
Wow oh wow ! Thank you for sharing ur heart and for following ur calling! I was introduced to you about a year ago and I can say your book was an eye opener for me, however I have not been strong enough to follow through. I make many Attempts to push myself and tell myself. ” I can do it! And pray to God to give me strength to say no to cravings of sugar and bad carbs. I am “good” for a couple of days and fall off. I go to bed and awake thinking how things will be different, to morrow I will make better choices. It had been a long winding road , and I truly am exhausted . I haven’t given up though. Your post has really encouraged me! Thank u for tieing in the spiritual, emotional, and mental aspects of this journey. I continue to lean on and trust God for wisdom in my food choices and appreciating my efforts instead of beating myself up. I know there may be many women and men out there that may feel the same . I say ” let’s rise up and take control! No more bearing ourselves up! Let’s encourage one another! High five one another and move forward to authenticity! ” God bless u Kimberly and looking forward to what lies ahead :)
Congratulations on continuing your journey, even through hard times. You are on the right track and I look forward to sharing more.
Kim! This is such a wonderful development. You’ve always had a remarkable and powerful gift in inspiring others and helping them to thrive. You’ve made such a huge impact on my life and you continue to be such an amazing inspiration. I can’t wait to see this new site of yours!
Well, I get so much inspiration from this community and everything that happens is collective. Very excited about all that’s coming :)
Dear Kimberly,
I would like to share something with you and any of your readers that may need the information.
I have been suffering with acute pain in my right side for a few years with only pain medication
as relief. All the usual tests showed nothing lifethreateningly wrong. When I was l7 I had a burst
appendix, in the good old days when there were no antibiotics and the operation took about
five an a half hours. My late father was told that “she will always have trouble but we have
saved her”. Well, many years and two children later I am saved but do have trouble! The crux of
this note is that I came across your e mail (sent by a friend) and decided to try the glowing
green smoothie. I also bought both your books. After about 5 months I have to tell you and all
your readers I am almost pain free (just occasional bouts) and then much less severe. I lost
about 5 pounds in weight which was not the object but certainly a bonus.Another bonus is that
my cholesterol which was always a little high is now in the normal range. I have a limited diet
but will try some more of your recipes. Mostly I drink the one and a half litres of your drink,
some fresh fruit and freshly baked salmon. Occasionally a smoked salmon sandwich. And,
my urgent need for coffee is now a thing of the past.
So, thank you beautiful Kimberly – keep up the good work.
Wow, Barbara to go from where you were to almost pain-free is truly remarkable! Congratulations and keep us updated on your progress.
Hopefully the admins will not be so rude and just delete people w no warning for things that don’t mean to hurt anyone.
I am currently going through a health and spiritual transformation and this article just hit the nail on the head – I am heading in my true direction!! Your book/website has been helping tremendously with my own personal journey. I appreciate your words and guidance Kimberly!
Bless you Kat. Keep checking in, we will share more and more to help during your transformation. Much love :)
Wow, this post is just what I needed. As a student, struggeling with health and family-issues, it’s sometimes very hard to find the strenght to keep on going. Becoming conscious of what I eat has somehow created some “space” in that foggy head of mine… I’ve become more aware of what harmony with myself and my enviromnent means. Thank you Kimberly for helping us all to get on that path!
I love that you emphasise the spiritual side of life as well, because in the end, where the mind goes, the body wants to follow. I’m looking forward to the new site!
Lots of love from Belgium
The strength is in you Johanna, and hopefully we can help you tap into more and more of it. Thank you for being part of this community.

I began your lifestyle in Feb. 2011 & have list 70 lbs. I love all of the forums & communities that allows me to inspire others:)) thank you again & will be sharing with you very soon!
Namaste, Cindy
Kimberly,
Thank you so much for your gift, it was such a wonderful surprise waiting for me yesterday!
Following the Beauty Detox way of life has transformed my health and my attitude towards what I put in my body in such a way that I know it will stick with me forever. I truly feel like I was given a lottery ticket when I started following your program to transform my skin, energy level and mental clarity! Nothing a pill or a doctor could prescribe has ever given me this youthful zeal.
The work you do (and have done) is a blessing to others! I am in love with the health and vitality I have now as well as the mental attitude I have towards taking care of my body in a loving and nurturing way. These are life long positive effects I have never gotten from any other “diet plan.” Beauty Detox is a lifelong way of living for me now! Again, thank you for all the work you do.
Love and gratitude,
Desiree
Amen, Desiree. I appreciate the message and affirmation of your success on this journey. Thank you.
Thanks, Kimberly,
I have been an SRF devotee for several decades now (!) and last Sunday’s service spoke about the body, mind, and spirit connections. So I’m very happy you are reaching out in this way to your broad community. I look forward to reading the blog and your insights and what others have to share, also.
In Divine Friendship,
Sue
So happy to see this Kimberly! My nutritional journey (guided by you OF COURSE haha) is also coinciding with my spiritual journey. I love that I will now be able to look to your sites and forums for guidance, community, and inspiration in all areas of my life. Thank you for all that you do. Your shining light, your Being, will just shine even brighter now and will continue to be my daily inspiration!
The feeling is mutual Kristin, thank you :)
Thanks for another inspiring article. I totally agree that the emotional and phsyical are connected and once you improve one the other follows. I been drinking your glowing green smoothie every day for 4 months now and it’s been amazing. It’s helped me give up smoking(which I know was a bad habit) but because I starting feeling better about myself from having the right minerals I naturally wanted to stop things that weren’t good for me! Don’t get me wrong I am not perfect- still love some chocolate now and again but I feel so much better now than I did and i am gradually introducing more of recommendations from your book! Thanks- keep doing what your doing!!?! X x
Congratulations on quitting smoking, amazing! Yes, as you elevate the “lower” things begin to fade away and there’s no need to fight them, as you discovered. And don’t ever feel the need to be perfect–as we say, it’s about “progress not perfection”!
Thank you for sharing your insight. I am walking a similar journey, opening myself to the stages of internal growth and releasing the no longer needed baggage. The path is more of a process for me with each step opening a place I didn’t think I was capable of going. It is wonderful having people like you along with me for this beautiful life changing time. What we put in our bodies, minds, hearts and ultimately what we dare to open ourselves to…we have no idea where it can lead. Travel gently and keep a soft face, and open heart and you will be amazed!
Thank you Betsy, I love the last line you posted–so true! :)
Good morning Kimberly,
I am so happy to hear you are creating a blog and resources to feed our emotional and spiritual side and not just our physical side. You have been an inspiration to me on all levels already. I am excited to join you on this journey and like so many others, find my true self!!!!
Thank you!
LOVE! way to go Kimberly!
Wow. Thank you SO much for sharing this! It’s amazing how relevant this is to my life right now – and how it lifts my spirits to read it! Thank you for encouraging me to continue on this path toward learning to like…and eventually LOVE myself!
Yes, self love is so important. We will be discussing that more about that and related topics very soon. Thank you Molly :)
After reading your post, I closed my eyes for a moment and thanked God for your personhood, your place in this journey, and your dedication to being a “heart warrior.” Six months ago, my mom and I began our own journey of renewed health and well being after reading your book Beauty Detox and registering for Glowing Lean. Since then my mom has lost 20 pounds, and my complexion was restored after years of battling acne through extremely toxic means (e.g. years of pre-scribes antibiotics)…(*yes, :)… I did purchase your probiotics+ and I love them!) While physical changes are wonderful, exciting, and welcomed, it has been the increased, constant inner peace and joy that we are both also grateful for. As you say that after you realize your inner power, “you feel less of the urge or need to “force” yourself to do anything—and more empowered to just be,” we have experienced this as well. In fact, I was able to come to a place of such peace and in the moment contentment, that I came to the decision to apply to law school after completing my MA in strategic communications January 2014. While in the past I had warred with this route, after incorporating your teachings of healthy eating and proper nutrition, my “energy, clarity and vitality” began to synergistically flow. I came to the decision about my future peacefully, and actually felt like this time around it was a blessing. Thus, I just wanted to say thank you, again. Your post confirms everything my mom and I have experienced. She is 56 and I am 24. We thank God for you, and the way you have illuminated even the finest details of nutrition and over all well being. I’m so exited to see how my own path forward evolves, and the beauty to be realized and shared. To new adventures, indeed! …To the beauty of life and living!
In love and health,
Lauren Bishop
Lauren, you are amazing! What a story, thank you sooooo much for sharing. So happy we have been of service and would love to share your experience with everyone at some point if you are willing. We are blessed to have you and your mother in the community.
Thanks Kimberly, we’re glad to be here! I would be humbled if you wanted to share my story at some point . “We’re all in this together~!” :)
Wow, Lauren your story is truely touching to me. I love to hear such inspiring changes thaour journey to be healthy both physically & spiritually has had on everyone in the community:) I too got my mother started on BD this past July & she has never felt better! After seeing how much it had helped me in do many areas of my life & me sharing with her daily about how amazing I was feeling it got her very interested. When I bought the 3 books she was one that I gave it to. After she got started on that she then got BDF & loves all if the wonderful re pies I had been telling her about! She is 67 & I told her that I just wanted her to also experience the energy, peace & happiness that living this lifestyle will give her as it has me. It is such a great thing to share the journey together eith someone as special as our mom’s:)) I also did the GLS & once she gets a bit further along I plan on getting that for her as well as a gift:)) She is now also taking the probiotics+ after I shared those with her too! Thank you for sharing your story as I feel like we have so much in common with living the best most peaceful life I could have ever imagined!
Many Blessings to both you & your Mom:) Cindy
Thank you for sharing, Cindy. I’m glad it’s working out great for you and your mom as well. Your story encourages me! I My brother (age 26…about to be married) is also interested in starting the journey. I’m so excited to see how this will turn his own health and well being goals into victories!
Take Care and Happy Thanksgiving!
Lauren
Kimberly,
Your post really touched my heart today. I am struggling spiritually with my inner self, trying to find my way in the world and it’s not easy. Your words are so powerful and encouraging, I thank you for spreading your goodness with the world. Can’t wait for more Self Realization posts. Thanks again.
Stephanie
I’m so glad this post helped, Stephanie. There will be ups and downs, but we’re on this journey together–keep walking the path and more beauty will unfold in all areas of your life.
Hello Kimberly, I purchased the Beauty Detox Foods on June 08,2013. Truly, your book transform my life and all aspects of my diet. Also, started yoga clasees September 2012. Your blog will be an asset to my spiritual journey. Thank you, for being a beacon of light. Namaste!
So glad and grateful that we’ve played a role in you embarking on this journey, Michelle!
Hi! have any edition in Spanish??
Kimberly, thanks for your amazing contribution to the world. You have been such an inspiration to me. I have been into yoga on and off for twenty years, never really committing until I came across you. I have been doing yoga nearly everyday since! I feel so good for it and I actually get a comfort from it similar to the comfort chocolate has given me. Now I just need to do more yoga and eat less chocolate!
I love what you are talking about here. I am in Australia and several times have almost joined up to a twelve week weight loss challenge program mainly because it offers ongoing mindset encouragement. But it is a calorie counting, running and gym body program, that is so not my thing… I just keep thinking Beauty Detox, yoga, wellness. So I love love love this new movement and hope it helps me with my mindset to make positive changes and let go of unhelpful comforts and replace with habits and food that will nourish my body, help me lose weight and deal with my PMDD.
Thank you for your awesomeness
Namaste
Hi Kimberly,
I just want to say a huge thank you for everything that you do! Your implication in this blog, the Glowing Lean System and now that new mouvement…it is stunning to see all the energie you put in your “beside work” just to help us in our own journey. I’m going through some changes since the last year: in septembre a return to school , at 31, after being working in early childhood education for the last 9 years. I begining a new class in college after I thought I would be done in 2004! I also beging vinyasa yoga in last septembre after a knee accident in 2012. Now, I feel like I’m still confused about what I really want to do with my life. I know, I have to give me some time..it’s been some big changes in the last year!
Anyway, just thank you, that new mouvement just “fall” in a really good timing for me!
Sonia…oh and sorry if my writting is hard to understand, I’m a french canadian who doesn’t writ that often in english
Love your work!! Keep it up xx I agree with every word you publish x
I have purchased both your books and look forward to receiving your emails that offer so much support and information. I am grateful for everything you have taught me to apply to my everyday life. I hope that soon you will open your another store in NY. Thank you for being such a sincere and dear person.
Hola Kimberly,
What a great blog! Gracias for taking the time to always write to us in such a sweet voice. It feels like I am talking to my best friend. My daughter has a brain injury that makes it difficult for her and myself to follow every thing in the plan. What recomendations do you have for us? What can I do to help her heal? What are the best foods to nourish her brain?
Dear Kimberly,
I have been drinking GGS for 10 months. I look at fruits and vegetables as miracles since reading your books (my favorite is The Beauty Detox foods – which I reference daily to inspire good choices)! I live near Salinas, California and have been driving past the Kale fields for years thinking who can eat that???? Now my family and I have a kale salad for dinner nightly and LOVE IT! I have been eating radishes, brussels sprouts and beets, which in the past I would never touch! Your message makes food beautiful like you and inspires healthy eaters to eat healthier with much more knowledge! The food choices I am making are inspiring not dreaded!!! Kimberly, you have a gift from God that is changing lives – – that is HUGH!
Kimberly,
You and your books have changed my life. I am asking for a recommendation to a spiritual healer near nyc. Please respond if you have a recommendation . Thank you! <3
Hi Kimberly
Love your blog and your message on health, just a quick question if I may, hope its the right place to post it?
What are your views on Herbalife?
I have green smoothies everyday and try to encourage my wife to do the same, but my wife has opted for Herbalife, which seems to work for her, she feels & looks healthy and has lost a lot of weight.
Herbalife vs Green smoothies, what are the main pros and cons in your opinion?
thanks
Kalel
I am in fact grateful to the owner of this website who has shared this enormous post at here.
Thank you so much Alpha T1 Testosterone Complex for your kind feedback and so happy you’ve found the information helpful. Sending you lots of love! ;)
