Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and I know a lot of you are probably scrambling trying to decide on the perfect gift!
Don’t wait until the last minute—I have ideas for you today, so go ahead and get your shopping done and out of the way so you’re not all stressed out the day of, wandering around the mall with a big question in your mind about what you want to give your mom.
Or worse- settling for something less than completely special just to “get something.” Spend your money wisely, on something that will actually benefit Mom!
Glow Cleanse
Starting at $60
I’m sure you’re like me and you want mom as healthy and around for as long as possible, so helping to rest her digestive tract for a bit (even if it’s a one day cleanse!), support enhanced detoxification and hopefully promote better long-term lifestyle habits is a beautiful thing.
The ultimate gift you can give someone is good health, and this is an awesome way to give your mom a jump start into a healthier lifestyle. It’s way better than a generic box of chocolates, and it’ll give her tons of energy as well as long-term benefits.
Our Glow cleanses are designed by me and include fiber-filled GGS to help sweep out more toxins, cold-pressed juices enhanced with probiotics, and boosters. They are also 100% organic.
“Cold-pressed” does not automatically need organic and I see lots of juices and cleanses out there that are not organic (if you are not sure always ask)! Which doesn’t make sense to me because when you’re cleansing why would you flood your body with pesticides? Hmm…strange!
Anyways, if you’d feel guilty not giving your mom chocolate, we have you covered there, too! Use your baking expertise to make her my Raw Cacao Truffles (so much better for her than the processed chocolates at the mall!), for a post-cleanse treat and tuck it in your gift basket, along with a 3-day cleanse from Glow Bio. She will thank you! ;)
Vapour Lux Organic Lip Conditioner
$20
I think the right kind of conditioner can really enhance your magnetic beauty in a major way and will be great for mom too! You can’t go wrong with this Organic Lip Condition by Vapour Organic Beauty.
This Multi-Use Conditioner bring relief and comfort to lips with Lux’s emollient formula. A synergistic organic botanical blend of coconut, fig, plum, and calendula soothes and protects delicate skin in one creamy, luxurious swipe.
You can use this directly to lips before using lipstick or gloss, use it to tame those unruly eyebrows or apply some liberally at bedtime to rehydrate dry lips.
It’s 100% natural, chemical and cruelty free, and gentle enough for highly sensitive skin. What a great gift in beautifying our mom, from the inside out.
Pratima Sunscreen
$26
If your mom hasn’t already been spending time in the sun, she will be soon. The weather’s usually pretty warm and nice most places by the time Mother’s Day rolls around, so helping your mom protect her skin is a must!
I recommend Pratima sunscreen because it’s natural, non-toxic, and the active ingredient is zinc oxide, not the nasty stuff they pack into most of the ones you find at the drugstore.
There are two options: Neem Rose Face Sunscreen SPF 30 and Neem Vetiver Body Sunscreen SPF 30. They don’t clog the pores and they protect against UVA, UVB, and even UVC rays! The formula for the body is designed to feel cooling to the skin while it moisturizes.
Sally B’s B Glossy Lip Gloss
$18
You’ve probably heard horror stories about what’s actually in a lot of lipsticks (like lead!). Of course your mom wants to look pretty, so help her make safe, gorgeous choices that feel good on the lips. I love the Sally B’s B Glossy Lip Gloss. This is a great, useful and fun gift if you are on a budget, that mom will really appreciate!
There’s a wide enough range of colors to suit any mom, but not so many that you’ll get bogged down and unable to figure out which one is best (you know how some lines have about 100 colors and none of them seem quite right?).
These are all flattering, beautiful, natural shades that add a hint of color and some shimmer to the lips. They’re super-moisturizing and contain 98% certified organic ingredients.
Probiotics
$49
Give the gift of good digestion and a flatter belly! Does mom really need another sweater…or improved health and energy? We all need that! Gift mom a bottle of probiotics that will help her rebuild her digestion in such a major way.
It’ll help with her health and beauty in ways she might not have imagined, like mental clarity, glowing skin, and brighter eyes—in addition to the improved digestion and de-bloating.
Sign her up for that and she will thank you! :)
Sweet Debbie’s Mother’s Day Box
Put a Mother’s Day box together with treats from Sweet Debbie’s! Sweet Debbie’s creates absolutely delicious vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free baked goods. They’ll ship to anywhere in the country.
This is not along the cleansing/detoxing/health-promoting gift-side like some of my other suggestions, but when made from healthier ingredients, this is an option too and I wanted to throw it in. We all like our sweets sometimes!
Make a Beauty Detox Recipe for Her
If your budget is a little tighter, or your mom just doesn’t like to accept gifts, spend some time together and make her a Beauty Detox recipe. She’s got to eat something for Mother’s Day lunch, so it might as well be something Beautifying (packed with minerals, antioxidants, vitamins and more) that was made with love!
The Dharma’s Kale Salad is an easy crowd-pleaser. And it will be great to get those healthy dark leafy greens into Mom! All you need to buy to make enough salad for both of you is:
Note: I moved the avocado from base into dressing from the original recipe, because I now like to mash up and massage the avocado throughout all the kale leaves. I constantly adapt my recipes! But it’s up to you- if you’d rather have chunky pieces of avocado instead leave as part of the base. :)
(Base)
- A head of lacinator (dinosaur) or curly kale
- 2 handfuls of sprouts
- 1 cup sliced sundried or fresh tomatoes
- 1/2 cup shredded purple cabbage (will add beautiful color and more beautifying vitamin C)
(Dressing)
- 2-3 Tbsp lemon juice (use Meyer lemons when you can)
- 2-4 Tbsp nutritional yeast
- Cayenne pepper to taste
- 1-2 Tbsp dulse flakes or strips (optional, maybe leave out this time if Mom is “new” to sea veggies!)
- High quality sea salt, to taste
- 1 medium avocado, sliced
(Optional for serving)
- Untoasted nori wrappers
Strip the leaves off the thick kale spines and add sea salt to them. Use your hands to further shred the kale in a bowl. Add all the ingredients for the dressing and mix it well again, massaging everything into the kale with clean hands.
Don’t forget to add your love for mom! Add in the other veggies and mix well one more time. You can toss in some extra veggies if you’d like—whatever you mom’s favorites are. If you’re using the nori wrappers, scoop the salad into them and enjoy!
I hope you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day! Let me know what you decide to give your mom on her special day!
Love and blessings,
Kimberly & Lil Bub
Last year on blog on Fathers day you posted a picture of your Father. Can we see a picture of your Mother?
