I am VERY deep in the fire of editing our third Beauty Detox book–and am pouring my entire soul into it right now!! It’s sort of all-consuming. You forget how much work a book is after it comes out and you love to share it, but then you feel it again the next time around. A labor of love!
But I wanted to take a pause and put this photo blog together for you of our recent trip to Scotland. Please take a pause and cruise up to one of the most beautiful countries in the world with me for a quick photo trip. 🙂
I didn’t even plan it, but I’m wearing Scottish-style plaid!
I’ve been to Edinburgh before but it’s been a while. We were completely enchanted with the beauty of the historic skyline that makes you feel that you are stepping into a magical, ancient land where people talk in a thick brogue (which might be my favorite accent ever).
I think bagpipes are such an emotional, beautiful instrument. When you hear them bleating over the streets of Scotland…well, it hits me in my heart somehow and makes me want to cry like a little baby!
(Poor) John: “Uh, why are you crying?”
Me: “It’s (sob) the bagpipes…they are so beautiful!!”
What a dork, I know!
Monument to Sir Walter Scott. Brilliant writer, but not sure how he’d feel about his monument as a token bird-landing point nowadays.
Here is the stunning skyline, taken from the top of the Sir Walter Scott tower!
Okay, if you look back to that bagpipe photo again (I won’t sob anymore, promise!), you’ll see a skinny tower in the background. That is the Sir Walter Scott Tower. You have to climb up into one of these columns to get to the top, which is in 3 sections, which get increasingly more narrow.
If you have any claustrophobic tendencies, I definitely don’t recommend this! It’s only one staircase, so when people are going the opposite way you’re squeezing shoulder to shoulder in the tiniest, more steep staircase. I wouldn’t call it “fun”, but the views were fantastic. Here I am above, in the first level!
So pretty right?!
La di daaa! We LOVED our hotel in Edinburgh. It’s a converted set of townhouses. So quaint and beautiful. If you find yourself in this city check it out- it’s called The Howard.
Hiking in the green gorgeousness.
There is nowhere I feel more inspired to offer up asanas (poses) than in nature!
Hub and I on the trail.
Now I’m going to give you a series of yoga asanas. I hope the energy of the nature- the green hills, blue skies, Scottish land, will impart some of the inspiration to you that I felt offering these poses.
Meditation, not poses, is the heart of yoga. But the poses can also help inspire and create positive energies. That is my intention here.
Om Shanti and LOVE to you.
Now just feel…
As you open your heart, you are inspired to open your spine.
When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.”
Heaven shining down.
Om Namah Shivayah!
I bow down to the light within me, within you and present everywhere.
I hope this has added a little inspiration to your day.
Be present, find joy everywhere, and honor the light within you.
With SO much love and gratitude,
PS: We loved Scotland so much we might go back again soon! I’ve been to Isle of Skye but we might go to another place in the Highlands to share. Stay tuned. xx
