The following is part of a new series that we’re going to run on the blog, it’s called “Feature Friday.” What that means is that, each week, we will showcase the story of someone who experienced a Beauty Detox transformation. It’s going to be blast, and also very instructional. Now, without further ado, let’s talk to Olympia!
How long have you been following the Beauty Detox philosophy? Was it easy to incorporate it into your lifestyle?
I have been free of gluten, soy, refined sugar, dairy, fish, and meat for roughly eight months now. I finally read the book [The Beauty Detox Foods] in the summer in 1 week while I was staying at my village in Greece and fell in love with the Beauty Detox way of life even more! Once I read the book I changed my food combining straight away. I was doing everything right except for that, which explains why I could never get rid of this three kilo bloating that was hanging around. In just five days I dropped those three kilos and I have never been bloated since!
It was easy to incorporate Beauty Detox into my lifestyle! I experienced a lot of obstacles but if you really want something, you make it work. The kitchen became my experiment room for vegan food (I just got so excited and couldn’t stop making up recipes, and I still am!) I know that what you give out comes back to you tenfold so I was prepared to spend my time and money on my lifestyle.
I admit that the food prep was a lot more time consuming, especially during my exams, but I got organized and made it work. I would wake up at 5:30 a.m. every morning so that I would have enough time to make a fresh glowing green smoothie to take to school with me and the nights before I would always make a salad or protein snack for lunch — some people ask me “Why did you have to wake up at 5:30 just to do that?” and feebishly I would respond that it’s because I’m a bit of an exercise fanatic! I love being active, and with school I had to incorporate that into my routine, so that meant core exercises (situps, planks, squats, etc.) and walking to school (one hour) which all takes up time. But apart from that, my dinners were often quick, simple, and raw so they did not take that much time.
What is your daily regimen? Give us an example of a typical meal plan and exercise routines.
Which leads me onto the next part, my daily regimen. I’m not that strict, I make do with whatever is available, but I always start off with something warm – lemon water, fresh ginger tea, fresh mint tea, organic mountain tea – and this fills me up until lunch time which is weird. I used to drink my Glowing Green Smoothie for breakfast and be hungry two to three hours later but that was in the beginning. Now, I think I have cleansed to the point where my body is absorbing nutrients properly so I can run on much less.
Lunch time is always raw fruit and veg or the glowing green smoothie. I like to keep it very light. If I had a juicer then I would be juicing!
Mid afternoon, if I am hungry, I will eat more raw fruit and veg. I always carry celery sticks, carrot sticks, zucchini, bell pepper, etc, on me to snack on if I am on the go. I keep it very simply and light throughout the day so I have loads of energy because I usually do my workout just before dinner.
Then dinner is always some sort of raw veg or green salad, with the Probiotic & Enzyme Salad of course, followed by a small portion of cooked veggies and some sort of fat or protein with it. For example, a not-so-sweet chia seed pudding, soup and oat groats, kale and miso-tahini dip nori wraps, or broccoli and raw cauliflower with a beauty nut pate which I use seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, hemp) for if I am out of nuts. I just make it up as I go along but always bear in mind food combinations and the light to heavy rule. This is why I find this lifestyle so easy, because it is a lifestyle and not a diet – it is something you carry around with you that you can do wherever you are! I love it.
As for my exercise, I walk to most places as long as they are within a two hour walking distance. I do core exercises and yoga stretches every morning. I do my favourite 40 minute HIIT workout at least five times per week before dinner – a mashup of cardio and core – I will outline it:
I do this 2 rounds through:
- 1 minute of star jumps then 1 minute of windmill jacknife crunches.
- 1 minute of high-knee lateral jumps then 1 minute of russion cross crunches.
- 1 minute of 4 forward jacks + 2 cross jacks then 1 minute of planking.
- 1 minute of squat + hooks then 1 minute of cross over toe touches.
- 1 minute of 2 hop squats then 1 minute of scissor kicks.
- 1 minute of standing crunch pulls then 1 minute of flutter kicks.
How do you feel after adopting the Beauty Detox lifestyle? What changes have you experienced?
Changes that I feel? Everything! My confidence has rocketed. My mind is absolutely clear and alert – I find it easier to be present in every day life – I think when you are clear on a physical level you can be more open and clear on other levels.
My energy is amaaazing! I do my workouts with NO problem! I can walk twice as far than I ever could. I don’t even need as much sleep as I used to. I was always drained and tired with out knowing why. Well now I know exactly why thanks to The Beauty Detox Solution and how simply and articulately it explains Beauty Energy. It resonates with me so much.
My skin is clear and I have no dark circles under my eyes – my mom said it has changed colour to a more golden colour haha and my sister (who only sees me once a year) noticed that I look more ‘glowing.’ Another thing my mom said is that I don’t smell when I sweat anymore and instead I smell sweeter – which was nice – in a backhanded compliment sort of way, haha.
- I have lost 10 kilos without losing any of my curves, in fact, they have grown and I look so much more in proportion now!
- My hair grows faster! Lots and lots of it!
- I go to the toilet two to three times a day which keeps my belly flat, whereas before I could only go once a day or every other day and I would always be conscious of my belly.
- I NEVER have cravings! Like, never. I am a girl who used to crave peanut butter in the morning, chocolate during the day, and sugary cereals at night. Now I feel so nourished, revitalised, and clean, that I just don’t want anything after meals.
Now, one more change I must include, is the impact it has had on people around me. I feel like a living example for my friends and family. From my mother and grandmother watching me make my meals, to making vegan food for my brother, to recommending the book to just about EVERYONE, to Instagram. Every person I recommend the book to then recommends it to their friends and family, and so on. It continues like a ripple effect.
This really brings me joy and makes me happy because I feel like Kimberly has initiated a paradigm shift by providing us with this incredibly supportive community. And that community is building, and more and more people are becoming empowered (because that is what the book does! It’s not about buying her products to rely on her, it’s about educating yourself to have the power within yourself to change your life), and because more and more people are becoming empowered, more and more happiness is arising because people can enjoy their lives more with such health and awareness, and this is a great uplift in our mass consciousness!
How has this impacted your outlook on life?
Personally, this has impacted my outlook on life by INSPIRING me to help people! This is all I have ever wanted to do which is why I am studying Psychology and Philosophy. Now, I am going to also do a course in nutrition for sure. I want to give service to the world like Kimberly has. I want to uplift people. I want to empower people. I want to be a part of this uplifting of the world.
People find that a bit dramatic, and I can see why. But what they are missing is that it’s not just about the diet, because of course you can’t uplift people by working on just one dimension of their being, as we are multi dimensional beings (we have the psychological mind, the body, the metaphysical dimension – if you believe in that).
Similarly to Deepak Chopra, Kimberly brings your awareness to your body, the kind of awareness where you have to listen to your body, so you develop a kind of self awareness. Instead of being wrapped up in your mind trying to follow strict regimens, diets, etc, you learn the basic principles then apply it by listening to your body and finding which beauty phase, for example, suits you and your lifestyle best.
So my point is that one thing leads to another. You read Kimberly Snyder’s book which triggers off interests, desires, and inspirations within you (e.g. yoga and meditation). So, Kimberly’s holistic approach sort of rubs off on her readers, and therefore continues to empower and uplift.
What’s your favorite recipe and why?
Oh, my favorite recipe, that’s a tough one. If I had to choose I would just go for the Glowing Green Smoothie because it is just so clever. It’s practical – I carry it in a flask and it stays cold and delicious! Oh yeah, it’s delicious. It’s green so everyone looks and says ‘What’s that?’ and then THAT whole conversation follows!
It is SO much beauty minerals and vitamins condensed into an easily absorbable liquid so your body can just suck it all up without digesting too much = Energy! And it also gets you interested in blending which allows for many other wonderful creations.
What words of encouragement do you have for others in the Beauty Detox Community?
Words of encouragement to anyone stumbling upon the community, in the community, or have been in for a long time, would be…
Every thought, word, and action in your life has lead you to this point. You are right where you need to be. You know that what you are experiencing is what you need to experience, otherwise you would not be experiencing it! If you have been suffering there is gold waiting to be found.
Don’t let anyone put you off. No family members, no friends, no media, no strangers. You do what is best for you and what you WANT for yourself.
READ THE BOOK! I wish I had read it sooner. It’s not just another book, it’s education. Knowledge is power!
One last thing, don’t give up. Results don’t always show straight away. Most of the time, they’re not supposed to.
I know this has nothing to do with this post but I was wondering if your probiotics+ have soy in them? I am allergic to soy and I have been looking for a good vegan probiotic that is also soy free.
Hi Jennifer, there is no soy at all.
What a great success story! I’m definitely feeling inspired! Especially great to hear what a big difference proper food combining made since that’s definitely the part I struggle with the most.
Such an inspiration! I never thought eating this way could fuel my HIIT workouts. They are just so intense, but this inspires me to give this beauty detox way of life another try. :)
Thanks for the inspiration! I just hope that one day, the books will be translated in french…any chance it will be soon?? I really need to get all the little informations to start the detox life :(
Not sure yet, but we’ll check on that!
