I want you to pay extra close attention to this post… this is BIG.
You may remember, I’ve been involved with an INCREDIBLE charity for the last couple years, called Gardens for Health International. Their mission is to empower families in Africa by providing agricultural solutions for chronic malnutrition. They help them create their own gardens, learn farming and reach a position where they can grow their own food and no longer be hungry or malnourished.
I can honestly say that the energy, love and devotion of those involved in this project are beyond words — they are truly some of the most selfless individuals I’ve ever met.
And their impact on the communities is profound and tangible. Being there last year, meeting the families and seeing all the children (including the adorable little Cedric!) was one of the most magical experiences of my life.
Why The Time to Help Is Now
Gardens for Health has been growing and increasing their help, working with more families than ever before. And now, THIS MONTH, they have an opportunity to take their work to the next level with a very special relationship with one of their supporters — Child Relief International (CRI).
CRI was so excited about their rapid growth that they challenged Gardens for Health to raise $50,000 in the month of October – pledging to match it, and raise a total of $100,000 in one month!!
Nearly two weeks into the matching challenge, GHI has raised over $15,000 so far. And that’s where they need our help. This is a good start, but we really need to push to help them reach their goal before the end of the month. This is more than possible, we can do it together!
One of the things I LOVE about Gardens for Health is that they make such a difference with the money they receive. And now, more than ever.
Because this month, with every dollar you give to Gardens for Health being doubled, the impact is astonishing. $250 is worth $500 – and will actually support two families in their amazing program for an entire year, not just one!
Here are some specifics about what all the donations help accomplish:
$25 buys a fruit tree for a family
$50 funds an interactive community cooking demonstration
$250 supports one family in our program for a year, including education and planting a home garden
$500 feeds over 100 neighbors and friends at a community dinner in Rwanda
$1500 allows field educators to visit families in their own homes and check on their progress every month for one year
$30,000 funds our entire program at a partner health center for one year
Think about that for a second: with every $250 they receive, they can help feed a family for an entire year and prevent malnourishment or starvation. That’s incredible!
Whatever You Can Spare Is Perfect
As I mentioned a movement ago, every little dollar counts. Whatever you can spare, even if just $10 or $20, helps so much.
Having been there and met families and children, this is incredibly real and urgent for me. Families can go from suffering to extreme joy thanks to us. I know that if everyone reading this blog gave just a few dollars, we’d reach the goal in mere days.
