I am excited to share with you my latest smoothie The Grapefruit Thirst Quencher. You know how much I love lemons and citrus fruits, so this smoothie is going to be really refreshing. Tart, sweet, and refreshing, fresh grapefruit is a great addition to our spring beauty routine!
Let’s find out how we can add an extra pop to this drink and why it’s so beneficial.
Grapefruit
Grapefruit listed under my high mineral-containing fruits list in The Beauty Detox Solution. I love this citrus fruit because it is one of the strongest cleansers, dissolving toxic substances and cleansing our tissues and system- stirring up all of that old residue that accumulates in our bodies.
Grapefruit is an excellent source of vitamin C, supporting your immune system and also contains pectin, a form of soluble fiber that has been shown to lower cholesterol. In addition, the phytonutrients (called limonoids) promote the formation of a detoxifying enzyme called glutathione-S-transferase. What does this technical-sounding name mean for us?? It gives the liver a boost in excreting toxins in a more water soluble form for removal- and who doesn’t like the sound of that?! :) The more toxin-free we are, the more healthy and beautiful we will be.
Watercress
Want to eat like a soldier but remain a Beauty? Watercress has been known to be an ancient green staple in a Roman soldiers diet. It’s part of the cruciferous family of vegetables, containing a very high level of dietary nitrate. This nitrate, in turn, has been shown to not only lower blood pressure but reduce the amount of oxygen needed during exercise.
So whether a Roman soldier or just a Beauty trying to keep your energy level up, this thirst quencher is an excellent cleanser, sweet & tangy- giving you a pep to your step, and just an overall great drink for spring and summer!
**Watercress can be extremely bitter if it is too mature. Look for small young leaves and taste before adding to your smoothie. If it is mild up to ¼ cup may be added, if bitter only start with small portion of leaves and increase to a tolerable level.

Can ice be added to the recipe also
Hi Beauty! I tend to avoid putting ice in my smoothies because cold drinks slow down digestion. However, if you wanted to add in ice, you could! xx
Hi! Love this recipe idea, grapefruit is a flavor I have serious cravings for. I tend to by frozen whole leaf spinach in place of fresh as it’s more economical where I am. When using frozen spinach, how much would you use in place of the 1/2 of fresh?
Hi Beauty! You could use 1/2 cup of frozen spinach in place of the fresh ;) Let me know how the smoothie turns out for you. Happy blending! xx
