Spiced Pumpkin “Milkshake” Smoothie Recipe

Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

Are you ready for a snugly, cozy fall? It is easy to still enjoy smoothies during fall, you can just vary them to include fall produce, like the pumpkin in my Spiced Pumpkin Smoothie Recipe.

This smoothie will keep your cravings at bay! How? With the filling fiber from the pumpkin and all the comfort and heat from the spices.

Be prepared and combat all of those tempting treats of the season with this yummy and nutritious smoothie that is perfect for your afternoon snack. It feels “milkshake-y” and thick. Back off dairy! We don’t need you anymore!

What about the Spice?

As you know from my other posts, there are amazing benefits from our common household spices. They have warming, detoxifying and metabolism-boosting properties.

The concept of Pumpkin Spice is actually really healthy when you create recipes using all natural, whole food ingredients.

Some of the main aromatic spices are included in this recipe are cinnamon and nutmeg!

What are we waiting for? Let’s get prepping! 😉

Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

Prepare ingredients.

Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

After roasting sweet potato, pour cold water over it and when cooled, peel skin off. Blend all ingredients together, starting on low and increasing speed as needed.

Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

Enjoy!

We ALL indulge from time to time, however, whenever we can make our own recipes, we can feel good about the ingredients. This is because we are aware of everything that goes into it.

Unlike all those tempting yet super processed pumpkin-y lattes that are lurking around! It’s no different with what we put into our smoothies.

Hi Kimberly, can I use real pumpkin in this recipe? If so, how much? And if I use a sweet potato should I stick to a medium size one?
    Thanks!!

Hi Karra and thanks for checking out my new smoothie recipe. Yes, you can most definitely use real pumpkin. If you use pumpkin or a sweet potato (medium to large), you can add about 1 cup or more (depending on how much flavor you want). You can’t go wrong really. Use leftovers for the next day! 😉

    Hi Kimberly,
Great picture of you and Emerson (hope I have the right name).

Is canned pumpkin a worthy substitution for a sweet potato and if so, how much?

Enjoying your latest book. Thank you!

Hi Annie…If you don’t have sweet potato or real pumpkin try to buy organic canned pumpkin. Try half a can to 3/4 and adjust to your liking and how much pumpkin flavor you want. You can’t go wrong! 😉

Hi Betty and thanks for checking out my new smoothie recipe. You can make your own pumpkin spice by combining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon cloves, 1/4 teaspoon ginger, 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg (double the recipe so you don’t run out). Happy Blending! 😉

thank you Kimberly! i tried my own pumkin spice before reading your comment, and i used toooo much nutmeg, after eating i felt HIGH, that was bad for me, because i do nursing, and i was in scar i it´s dangeours for the baby. Today i feel like had alkohl yesterday:-o went to the doctor, but he laugh and said all ok… so now i learned to use nutmeg just really a little bit. i will try the recipe again, with your pumkin spice reciepe.

Kimberly i have another question: about 3 year ago i went vegan. My husband don´t liked it but accept. Now we have a baby he says always to me try eating fish or meat, and now i feel he is not accepting me anymore, he even wants our child to eat “normal”, his family also thinks i am crazy because of not eating meat and fish, and that is unhealty for the child. im really sad because now, i know i have a husband who not really stands behind me and what i do…

Hi Betty…I say don’t give up on what you feel is good for you personally. Check out this blog I wrote up on this exact topic (http://bit.ly/2dJngyk), and in helping family members to understand or make the transition themselves. If they see your conviction, eventually they will know you are determined to stick with this lifestyle. It takes lots of love and patience but you will feel better in the long run. Try to raise your child in a way where you can find peace in your household. Let your husband see the results from what your pediatrician shares with you after each visit with your baby, and make adjustments as you see fit. You’re doing a great job in taking care of your health and if you feel great, why change. Progress not perfection. Sending lots of love and support your way! 😉

    Hello,

I’ve seen mixed advice on consuming raw sweet potatoes due to potential digestion issues. Do you recommend using raw sweet potatoes for this or any other recipes?

    Thank you!
