I wrote a lot about Yogananda in The Beauty Detox Power. He is a huge part of my inspiration and reading Autobiography of a Yogi changed my life in ways that I am forever grateful.

If you or anyone you know is interested in yoga, meditation, or seeking some kind of spiritual guidance perhaps outside (or in combination) with formal religion, this is the premiere book to get started with.

Yogananda brought yoga to the West, and this beautiful book interweaves stories from his life with accessible spiritual teachings. It’s true that the beginning may require a little more focus to get through, but do not stop because after a short while you will not be able to put it down.

When I returned to India several years ago I used Autobiography of a Yogi as my guidebook. I visited many of the sacred sites mentioned in the book, including Yogananda’s childhood home in Calcutta. I also went to Babaji’s cave in the Himalayas and the site of Swami Sri Yukteswari’s former hermitage in Puri.
