Incorporating Beets Into Your Diet…
I love beets and their sweet, earthy flavor. AND, they are a powerhouse when it comes to beauty nutrients and health-promoting functions, such as:

To Cook, Or Not To Cook
I like ’em both ways, and you will receive great benefits both ways. However, eating them raw will preserve the beets’ vitamin C and some other nutrients better, so in this recipe we are keeping them raw.
That being said, you are getting a lot of vitamins as well from your Glowing Green Smoothie® that you are hopefully drinking daily! :)…and cooked veggies digest well and are an important part of the Beauty Detox diet! Cooked veggies retain their minerals, fiber and other nutrients, and are important for bulking up meals in delicious and nutritious ways.
I’m for a balance. Not ALL raw (as I used to eat at one point myself!), and not primarily ALL cooked (which Ayurveda and TCM stress), but consuming both. We can have our raw veggies and cook them too.
Add the olive oil, fresh squeezed lemon juice, salt and pepper to a bowl.
Whisk until combined.
Toss your raw beets into a large bowl.
Add the fresh, beautiful basil leaves! (And don’t forget to take a big sniff!)
