Give my Spooky Acai Smoothie Bowl Recipe a go, and be ready for a burst of energy and fullness that will keep you content well into your next meal! Then, just start back up on your very next meal with healthy nutritious food choices.

Since “Progress not perfection” is our mantra, there will inevitably be treats around on Halloween that you may want to indulge in, that that is okay! Picking ourselves apart or feeling shameful is never helpful.

Beauty Berry: Acai

If you hadn’t noticed, I love acai. With their powerful detoxification capacities in the human body and their super high antioxidants, these berries will help keep our guts clean and running smoothly. Acai really is an amazing beauty food—filled with fiber, minerals, and naturally sugar-free—you can feel good about what’s going into your afternoon “beauty treat”.

Because acai is filled with amazing fiber, it keeps our colons free of harmful substances and helps to alleviate digestive problems, like constipation. These berries actually speed up bowel transit time—preventing foods from fermenting in the intestines, contributing to bloating, constipation, and gas.

Take a look at some addition nutrients you’ll be gaining:

  • B1, B2 and B3 vitamins
  • Essential amino acids
  • Antioxidants (anthocyanins, polyphenols, vitamins A, C and E)
  • Healthy fats (monounsaturated fats and omega fatty acids such as; omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9)
  • Fatty acids like linoleic acid, palmitic acid, and oleic acid
  • Trace minerals (iron, calcium, copper and zinc)
  • Electrolytes (magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and manganese)
  • Plant sterols (B-sitosterol, campesterol and sigmasterol)

Free radicals and high levels of oxidative stress can wreck havoc on our skin—causing everything from dark circles, to sagginess, to discoloration. Good news is, consuming plenty of antioxidants (like acai berries), will help the body repair damaged skin cells faster.

My favorite brand is the Sambazon Unsweetened Acai Smoothie Packets, because they are made from delicious, organic acai, wild-harvested from the heart of the Amazon. This company also uses fair-trade practices, supporting and benefiting the local farmers!

Look for acai at your local health food store (in the freezer section), and keep your afternoon “running smoothly”, (literally ????).

Prepare ingredients.

Add the acai to the blender.

Add the unsweetened almond milk.

Add the vanilla coconut yogurt.

Add the banana.

Add the blackberries (fresh or frozen).

Add the cinnamon. Blend until smooth.

Decorate! Add coconut yogurt to a plastic bag. Snip off corner and make circles starting at the center and moving out like a bulls eye. Pull toothpick through yogurt starting at center and pulling out towards edges of bowl. Serve and Enjoy!

Serves: 1 large serving
Ingredients
  • 2 packets Sambazon unsweetened acai
  • 2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • ½ cup vanilla coconut yogurt
  • 1 frozen banana
  • ½ cup fresh blackberries + some for garnishes
  • A few dashes of cinnamon
  • Toppings: coconut yogurt, mint, blackberries
Instructions
  1. Add all of the ingredients to your blender and blend until the smoothie.
  2. Decorate! Add coconut yogurt to a plastic bag. Snip off corner and make circles starting at the center and moving out like a bullseye.
  3. Pull toothpick through yogurt starting at center and pulling out towards edges of bowl.
  4. Serve and Enjoy!
