It’s that time of year when the temptation of sweet and salty treats run high! To keep on track, try out my new Feel Clean Dandelion Detox Smoothie Recipe. This Dandelion Detox Smoothie Recipe will leave you feeling clean and lighter, even if you may opt for an extra treat (as we all do at times!) I loaded myself with gluten-filled crackers the other night for some reason, late night, because they were really tasty and I don’t usually have them around! With spring approaching I’ve been getting myself back on track, and this smoothie is a great tool for that.
Greens are among the most nutrient dense of all foods and are full of alkaline minerals, chlorophyll, and amino acids. They make up our key beauty foods that regenerate and purify our cells.
The 411 on Dandelion Greens
Now you’re likely familiar with some more common greens, like spinach, romaine, kale, arugula. What about dandelion greens? Have you ventured out of your comfort zone and tried them yet? Dandelion greens are truly a magical and beneficial green that is loaded with healing and beautifying powers.
Do you know that the entire dandelion plant is edible? It is! From the golden flower to the leaves and all the way down to the roots, you can enjoy every part of a dandelion and reap from its amazing benefits!
You might be wondering what I first thought about when I learned about these gems… Can I simply go outside and pull dandelions from my yard and eat the greens? Yes…but, um, I don’t necessarily recommend it. Often chemicals and pesticides are sprayed on plants so be sure to seek out organic dandelion greens free from toxins (as well as well, bird/dog substances! :) ).
Dandelion Greens for Detox
Dandelion greens contain iron, protein, and calcium. All three things that help keep us strong and healthy! Dandelion roots also contain choline, another liver stimulant. They also have Vitamins A, K, B2, and C!
According to the National Institutes of Health, Dandelion greens have long been used for detox. Native American as well as traditional Chinese and Arabic cultures found dandelion greens to be a powerful healer for problems in the liver and gallbladder.
If you search your local market or farmer’s market you are likely to find fresh dandelion greens. And if not, hopefully, you will find some variation of dandelion tea. Drinking dandelions in a tea or tonic form can help heal digestive distress, and it has diuretic properties.
My Feel Clean Dandelion Green Smoothie makes a wonderful cleansing and detoxifying smoothie. Combining dandelion greens and ginger really helps to improve digestion. And when your digestion is running optimally the absorption of nutrients and the removal of wastes from the body improve as well!
Speaking about digestion, be sure you do yourself a huge beauty favor and take my Feel Good Digestive Enzymes! These super useful/powerful magic pills help to break down macronutrients (protein, carbs, fat) and better utilize nutrients, so we prevent bloat and get the most nutrition out of our food. Why spend money on organic/healthy food if we don’t get the full benefits?
I hope you come to love my Feel Clean Dandelion Green Smoothie.
Now it is worth mentioning, dandelion greens on their own can be quite bitter. Which is why I don’t always recommend you eat them on their own. Try them first in my Feel Clean Dandelion Green Smoothie recipe. When you pair dandelion greens with the sweetness from a pear, the creaminess from a banana and the zing from ginger, you have yourself one powerfully delicious treat!
And if you love this recipe as much as I do, be sure to pin the recipe to your Pinterest board. And share it with your friends on IG!

Would this smoothie replace the GGS then? Assuming yes. Thanks so much!
Hi Rachel and thanks for your great question. The is a smoothie that you would have in the afternoon as a snack. I encourage my Beauties to always have their GGS in the mornings and never replace it with other smoothies. The GGS is combined in such a way where our bodies don’t have to work so hard to break down all of the amazing nutrients. Keep up the great work and sending you lots of love and continued support! ;)
i love this recipe
Thanks so much cake lover! For taking a look at this recipe and my Feel Joyful Cacao Fudge as well. So happy you love them. Lots of love to you! ;)
Hey sweet Kimberly, I have been a mostly clean eater but have had a lot of gut issues and food allergies for a few years. After another gut trauma incident while traveling and going from just food allergies to always bloated and cant lose the 5 pounds to feel the best, i found your program! I am at the stage where i can tell that my body is needing to detox a lot of what the beauty detox diet is digging up. I’ve just started the food combinations and I’ve tried to go back to eating a few more grains to slow down the process a little until the body can catch up. Would it be smart to maybe stick to smoothies like the dandelion detox smoothie in the afternoon to help with the detox? And thank you so much for what you do! You came into my life at a time where even the natural doctor wasn’t sure how to heal my gut.
So happy that you are on this path Beth. Great to hear that your body is reacting well to the changes you’ve made in your diet. As for your question, I suggests always drinking your GGS in the morning (which is a detox in itself) and any of my other smoothies in the afternoon, since they are all healthy but you can focus on the Dandelion Detox more often and switch them all out. Let me know how you do and again, so happy you are on this road to healing yourself and taking charge. Lots of love and continued support! ;)
Hi Kimberley,
How long would you recommend to drink this smoothie as a detox?
Delicious! Refreshing after a workout!
Hi Susan – so happy to hear that you love my Feel Clean Dandelion Detox. It’s one of my fav’s too! ;)
Hello my dear Kimberly. I love this one, it taste delicious. I have a question i could not find the dandelion baby leafs. Can I use the dandelion leaf with the stalk in my smoothies? Is the stalk edible too? Thanks. Lot of love to you Beauty.
HI Kimberly,
Could you please comment on my question when you have time? xxx I’m vata and small boned and am very prone to bloating–so much so that I’m asked if I’m pregnant! My digestion is super sensitive (I’ve been working with a micro nutritionist for a year). I’m no longer drinking the GGS or other smoothies because I really need protein in the morning (or I have severe lightheadedness) and if I drink a lot of liquid later (like in a smoothie,0 I have tremendous bloating….what could someone like me who is prone to Vata imbalance do? I love your smoothie recipes and used to make them all the time…I’ve also been steered away from fruit due to the inflammation in my gut (I don’t have candida though). Many thanks–maybe others have these questions too? xxxx
Hi Beauty! Thanks for sharing your journey. Have you tried taking digestive enzymes with your meals? This could help tremendously with supporting your digestion and reducing bloating. In terms of supporting your gut, which will also help with your bloating, I recommend taking SBO probiotics and Detoxy. You can find all of these supplements on my website: https://shop.mysolluna.com/collections/solluna-supplements. I personally take all three daily, along with eating light to heavy. Keep me updated on how you feel! Sending you lots of love xx
