Hi Beauties, and welcome to our Summertime Feeling Light and Joyful Meditation. It is our nature to feel light and joyful and peaceful, and what happens in daily life is that we can get weighed down, we can get into our heads. We start repeating certain patterns, fear starts coming out. We just start to feel blocked, and this is something that happens to all of us so there’s no shame there.
However, what we want to do, just like the way that we clean the dishes or our car, is we want to make sure that we put energy and emphasis on resetting periodically and ideally daily, which we can do in our meditations. What I mean by resetting is we tap into our true nature that can be buried underneath all these layers of heaviness.
When we start to tap in, when we start to connect to that energy, it allows it to come forward and to come through. It’s very healing and rejuvenative to tune in to that beautiful energy that is at the heart of the true self and your essential essence.
This is a wonderful time of year in particular to do this meditation because we have the collective energy all around of lightness and summer vibes. It stays light later and we’re outside more in nature, and so this is a particularly potent time to tap into that lightness and joyfulness that is part of nature, is part of us.
We are part of nature, everything is interconnected. So I encourage you to do this meditation maybe daily for the next week or two or however you feel called to it. Whenever you feel called to it, it’s here for you.
If you start to feel like you’re getting heavy or there’s just a lot going on in your mind to remind yourself that you can tune in, you can tap into feeling light and joyful. And it can be a state of being for you. It really can be your way of living.
Let’s get started now…
Guided Meditation
Please take a comfortable seated position, either on a pillow, cushion with your hips elevated on the ground, sitting cross-legged as I am right now, or you can go ahead and sit in a chair with your feet flat on the ground.
Either way, go ahead and lift your spine, chin parallel to the ground, shoulders over your hips, and just take a nice deep breath and an exhale out through your mouth.
Let’s do that again inhaling in through your nose and then exhaling out through your mouth. Just imagine that you are releasing tension, you are releasing heaviness, layers and layers that may have built up from daily life.
One more time, inhaling and exhaling out through your mouth. Now what I’d like you to do is bring your hands to your knees or your lap if they’re not already facing down through your palms or making contact with your knees or your thighs.
As you inhale, you’re going to dip your chin down towards your chest and you’re going to make this motion like you’re diving into water. Letting the chin come down, letting the head come down. Can be as small or as big as you like, and then you’re going to emerge.
You’re going to let the head rise up, and then the chin rise up like a rising up to the light.
It’s this beautiful circular pattern.
Let’s do it again, inhaling and letting the head drop down the chin. Notice that the back will go back in a concave shape and then exhaling. Rising up to the light.
Let’s do that a few more times, letting yourself dip down that front of the brain, the overthinking brain, over analyzing, letting it rest.
And then rising up, emerging into lightness, joy, arising above the muddiness of life.
Again, tipping down, head down, chin down, and then rising up into the light, into the lightness.
One more cycle, dipping down and then rising up and just feeling the way that we move our bodies communicates in a very deep resonant way with ourselves, with our beingness.
So go ahead and start to come into stillness, just keep taking some deep breaths, nice and gently.
When we do that motion, it’s signaling to our body, to some part of our subconscious, that we are rising into the light. We are choosing lightness. We are choosing to be joyful and to not take things so seriously in this moment and in life. I’d like you to emulate that feeling of lightness with your breathing.
Your breath can be slow and rhythmic and steady, but there’s this joyful quality that you can call in this lightness, playfulness.
Just keep the breath going in and out. Light and joyful. Allow you to be here, breathing along with me for another moment or so.
Setting the Intention for Today
Now I’m going to start introducing our intention, our affirmation for this specific meditation, and I’d love you to either say it out loud in a whisper or just listen. Either way, whatever resonates with you is the right way for you.
I Am light and joyful.
I Am light and joyful.
I Am light and joyful.
I Am light and joyful.
I Am light and joyful.
I Am light and joyful.
I Am light and joyful.
I Am light and joyful.
Let that start to reverberate down into yourself.
Let’s just pause here for a moment.
Breathing nice and sweetly and gently.
Your true nature is to be light and joyful.
You can choose to be light and joyful.
And as we start to wrap up our meditation, I invite you to bring this energy of lightness and joyfulness into your day, into your actions, and into your words.
Put your hands together in prayer position in front of the heart. Taking a moment for gratitude. I am so grateful for you, my love, and I’m so grateful for our connection on this path.
Sending you so much love, namaste. Om Shanti. Peace and love.
