Namaste Beauty, and welcome to our Unconditional Kindness Meditation. It feels really good to be radically kind to everyone that we encounter every day, all day. And yet, there are many instances where we can feel anxiety or fear. We feel separation from others. We feel like we’re in our head. We get into stories. We feel slights, resentments, whatever it is. And sometimes that kindness is blocked, and it doesn’t filter through in our actions, and in our words, and in our behaviors. And this can happen to all of us.
And so, truth comes through as win-win. When we’re kind, it is the best thing for the so-called other person, other party. And it’s also the best thing for us because it aligns to our true nature, to who we really are.
In today’s meditation, we are going to be focusing on affirming this real divine quality of unconditional kindness, and therefore helping it to really come through in our daily life.
This is a really powerful meditation. And if you’re feeling really called to practice kindness, to make kindness a bigger part of your life and your energy and those around you, then I encourage you to practice this meditation even twice a day for two weeks.
It only takes a couple moments, morning and evening, to really help it integrate. This is what I do when I’m really working on something specific as I go. I go at it twice a day and, after a while, it starts to integrate. It starts to come in. It starts to become more of your second nature.
And this constancy is a very important spiritual attribute. This consistency, we show up for our practice and we’re not perfect. None of us are. We’re still going to go in and out. But, being on the path, being on the journey, really does strengthen us, and it moves us closer to our goal which, in this case, is unconditional kindness which, even just being on the journey towards it, opens our heart, opens up our energy. And it feels so good because again, kindness, love, compassion, these are attributes of the true self, of our real nature.
Guided Meditation
Go ahead and take a comfortable seat, either on a cushion or on a chair, your meditation chair. By now, hopefully, you have a regular cushion or a chair that you sit in regularly or, if not, just maybe choose one today and go with that. It’s nice to have consistency in your practice in all ways.
And then, go ahead and lift your spine. Ensure shoulders are more or less over your hips, and then take a deep breath in.
And exhale.
So now, I’d like you to take your right hand and wrap it around your left ribs. And then, take your left hand and wrap it around your right outer arm. So what we have here is a little created self-hug.
And what I’d like you to do is, very gently, just rock back and forth. Give yourself a little squeeze. Just imagine that you are hugging a loved one, and you are because you are hugging yourself.
Now, we don’t always think of it this way, but it is true that the way that we are, the beingness in which we show up for ourselves, is reflected in our actions and behaviors with which we bring out into the world. So, when it comes to unconditional kindness, I want to start right here in this loving embrace, in this acceptance, this kindness, this being present to us.
First, we need to be kind to ourselves. It may feel a little funny at first, hugging yourself, but just let all of that judgment go. Let it just start to melt away.
And again, you can tuck your chin in, and give yourself a big bear hug, or it can just feel like a gentle sway. Either way, keep it loving.
Imagine that you are truly cultivating, you’re channeling the energy of kindness in the way that you connect to your own body right now.
We’re tapping into kindness. It’s kindness that is part of you, that is always there. We just have to choose it. We have to augment it. We put attention on it and we allow it to expand and then to come forward. Another moment in this beautiful self-hug.
Go ahead and release your arms from your ribs, and your other arm, and let your hands come settle down on your lap, and on your thighs.
And start taking some beautiful deep breaths in.
Kindness is our way of being. So there’s a real gentle gentleness to kindness. Something gentle is meek or weak, but gentle is enormously powerful. Gentle brings presence to each moment. Gentle is never forced. Gentle is open and expansive. Gentle is a part of kindness.
I’ll give you a moment here to take your deep breaths in and out.
Take each breath with the energy of kindness.
Just imagine that you’re breathing in kindness, and that you’re exhaling out kindness as well.
Setting the Intention for Today
And now, I will introduce an affirmation. As always, you can say it to yourself silently or out loud as you learn the affirmation. After I say it once, it’s completely up to you, and it may be different for different times that you practice this meditation.
I Am unconditional love.
I Am unconditional love.
I Am unconditional love.
I Am unconditional kindness.
I Am unconditional kindness.
I Am unconditional kindness.
I find that the more we love, the kinder we are. And the kinder we are, the more love expresses through us. So just allow the truth, this affirmation, to start to go down, saturate down, into the self of your being.
Take another deep breath in. Slow, exhale out.
Bringing your hands together in prayer in front of your heart, taking a moment for gratitude or anything that rises up.
I’m so grateful for you. So grateful for our connection. Sending you so much love.
Namaste. Om shanti. Peace and love.
