Namaste and welcome to our Peace Now Meditation. We all want to feel peaceful. We all want to cruise through life and feel that nice, relaxed presence that is accompanied with being peaceful. But of course, things sometimes throw us for a loop, we get out of sorts, we get in moods, people annoy us, we get anxious about the future, about decisions we’re making, and suddenly we don’t feel so peaceful anymore.
The goal of this meditation is to help you re-ground into peace right now no matter what is going on in your life, no matter what external circumstances and stresses may be coming at you, we still have the ability to really tune in to our inner state and to influence our inner state. That’s what we’re going to do today in this meditation.
This meditation is here for you any time you start to feel that anxiety rise up or you start to feel thrown off or off kilter or you feel very just out of sorts with this moment. Try doing this meditation, take a break, do it regularly, and just keep coming back into your natural state of peace and harmony.
Let’s get started.
Guided Meditation
Go ahead and take a comfortable seat now, please, either on the floor with your legs crossed and your hips elevated or on a chair with your feet nice and flat on the ground. Either way, just close your eyes now.
Once you get into your spot, lift your spine, chin parallel to the ground.
Take a nice full, deep breath in.
Now exhale out through your mouth. Just feel tension starting to go out of your body, out of your being.
Once again, take a nice full, deep breath in through your nose, and out through your mouth.
No matter what’s going on right now, just stay with my voice. Stay with your breath. Stay with these movements.
Your hands are going to rest now on your lap or thighs, palms facing up or down, whichever resonates with you today. Then you’re going to lift your left shoulder up towards your ears, and then exhale and let your left shoulder drop down.
Next, inhale, lift your right shoulder up, nice fluid motion, and then go ahead and let your right shoulder come down. Let’s just continue a few cycles.
Left shoulder up. You could make it into a circle even. Exhale, drops down, and then right shoulder lifts up, keep it smooth, and then right shoulder drops down.
One more time like that. Left shoulder up, left shoulder down. Right shoulder up, right shoulder down.
Now, both shoulders up, and then exhale, and roll your shoulders back and down.
Again, inhale, both shoulders up, and then both shoulders back and down.
Just sit quietly now.
Let your shoulders rest. Focus on your breath, breathing nice and evenly and allowing your exhales to be even longer and slower than your inhales.
Really focusing, staying very calm, very centered, very relaxed. Just being with your breath, being right here right now. Feeling that in this moment, as your breath flows in and out, just feeling the utter simplicity of this beautiful moment where there’s nothing else to do. There’s nowhere else to be. All you have to do is breathe.
If your breath was a little bit jagged when we started, notice how your breath starts to elongate and slow down and just completely relax your entire being.
Your shoulders keep relaxing down. Your tongue relaxes down.
All the parts of your face release.
Your back, to release tension, and anywhere else that you may feel some tightness.
Watch how the guidance of your breath and just taking attention away from thoughts and putting it on the breath. Slowing down the breath has a powerful effect, and slowing down your entire sense of being right now.
Everything is calm. Everything is peaceful. You’re right here right now with my voice.
Notice when any little thought comes up that throws you off, any little anxiety, just keep coming back to your breath.
Keep breathing in and out.
Setting the Intention for Today
I’m going to introduce our affirmation, our intention, and speaking deep down into your subconscious. You don’t have to do anything. You don’t even have to say these words out loud unless you feel called to. Otherwise, just listen and focus on your breathing.
I Am peaceful and harmonious in this now moment.
I Am peaceful and harmonious in this now moment.
I Am peaceful and harmonious in this now moment.
I Am peaceful and harmonious in this now moment.
I Am peaceful and harmonious in this now moment.
Let the truth of that start to sink in as you continue with your breaths. We can align to this moment. We can tap into our ability to be harmonious, to feel peaceful on the inside. No, we can’t control the outside world, we can’t control all the events and circumstance, can’t control the future. But at the same time, we can choose peace, we can choose harmony in this moment, and then we can choose it in the next moment. We can recenter. We can find peace. We can align to this moment right here right now. It is within our power. It is within our grasp. It is our choice.
Now, in this moment, we choose peace, we choose harmony, we choose to feel aligned in this moment.
We are here, we are present, we are in our power, and we can take forward action as we need to.
Right now, all we feel is harmony and peace.
Another deep breath in, nice and slowly. Exhale.
As you exhale, imagine this light of peace emanating and filling every cell of your being of your entire body.
Resonating with peace, peace, peace.
Bringing your hands together in prayer pose, place right in front of your heart, taking a moment for gratitude and seeing what rises up spontaneously.
I am so grateful for you, for this path, for our connection.
Om shanti om. Peace and love. Namaste.
