So I literally just walked in the door after finishing a Good Day LA segment. I will post that soon too! It was kind of rough because I was hosting a sit down dinner party last night for 9 people, which had 6 courses. I didn’t get home and into bed until 1:30 or so, exhausted, then had to drag myself to the studio by 7:30…Ugg. But now I can sleep! :)  I just wanted to quickly post the recipe for what I made.

With dozens of frozen yogurt brands constantly popping up everywhere that you can see (especially in my hometown, NYC!), touting themselves as health food, it is easy to get sucked in and eat frozen yogurt regularly as a “healthy snack.” Remember moderation!! While better than some other things I can think of, I certainly wouldn’t call commercial frozen yogurt health food. It is also usually made with refined, synthetic sugars, pasteurized skim milk derivatives, additives and chemicals. Remember just because something is low in calories and fat grams does not mean it is beautifying, easy to digest, or again… healthy!

So this Banana Soft Serve recipe is totally NATURAL!! Your body will be able to digest and process it easily, because there is nothing synthetic in it at all! You are going to die when I tell you how easy it is to make. And not only is it the most truly natural, unprocessed alternative, it will also save you money, as you don’t have to pay a few bucks every time cravings strike to wander down to one of the numerous fro yo counters. Last time I checked, organic bananas were oh…around $0.39 each at Trader Joe’s. :) I love it when healthy is EASY and CHEAP!!!!

Okay so here goes:

Banana Soft Serve with Raw Fudge Sauce
 
Serves 2 people, with extra fudge sauce to keep in your fridge!

  • Raw Fudge Sauce
  • - ½ cup raw cacao
  • - ⅓ cup organic Thompson raisins
  • - 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • - Liquid stevia, as needed to sweeten
  • Banana Fro Yo
  • - 4 frozen organic bananas
Instructions
  1. That's it.
THAT’S IT!!

Amazingly so (and I think you will be truly amazed), when bananas are frozen well and blended well in your food processor, they will get blended into a smooth, creamy consistency just like soft serve frozen yogurt that you would buy.

Taa Daaaaaaaaaaaa!!! That’s it.

Show off t to your friends and make this, and they will freak out, and think you got an ice cream maker or something fancy. :)

  • It’s so amazing how it’s possibly to do such an amazing dessert with just one ingredient! And well since I hate bananas I do the same thing with pears and it’s even yummier! Well, at least in my opinion :D

  • I actually learned about this a few weeks ago from Veggie Wedgie’s Blog!!! I have yet to try it tho…I was wondering, can you make this w/ a blender if you don’t have a food processor, or will it not come out the same?! What exactly is the difference between a food processor and a blender? If you had to pick one, which would you recommend? I’m saving up for a Vitamix…thanks!

  • I made the banana ice cream a few weeks ago for a couple of non-raw/vegan/veggie friends and they were totally blown away by it! Try adding cinnamon – it’s delicious! I just tried your raw fudge sauce recipe today and it’s awesome. In fact, the ice cream/fudge sauce combo made a perfect pre-run snack! Thanks for posting!

    I swear I love you & your site so much. You have seriously helped me and I am definately trying your recipe today. I am having a terrible problem with sweet cravings, which I didn’t before.

    I am having a problem though, I keep being told NOT to have the dates or other dried fruits or fruits because it may increase the sugar craving. Now, that I am getting into more of the raw scene …. well, I’m confused. Can you share your opinion?

    I have lost about 50 lbs. now so I’m around 320 & I swear I look fabulous! I have looked at pics when I actually weigh LESS but LOOK BETTER NOW – it is like something my body has never done before! It is like “sinking in”. This is great motivation.

    Sorry, I’m so excited I have to tell you, I decided I was going to eat mexican food – a plate a love – & I was only able to eat 1/3 of the plate which before I would have that plate plus 2 big carnitas tacos plus tons of beer. I swear my stomach couldn’t consume anymore. I LOVE THAT! I am still going gradual but I would say I am at least 50% sometimes 60, 75% raw per day!

    FYI, my hubby – in sales – was telling his potential client, about the “green smoothie” we make, he called me to get the info for his client. I ended up talking to his client for about 9 minutes, told him about the recipe & your site – he went directly after his meeting w/my hubby to get all the ingredients from Mother’s Market! He said he’ll keep in touch and let us know his progress.

    FYI – also, emailing your site again cuz I tell people about you all the time. :)

      It is so great to hear from you!! I hadn’t heard from you in a while and was wondering how you were doing. :) I am SO proud of you! You have lost so much weight, and the difference in what you ate at that Mexican restaurant is amazing!! Yes you are making steady and great progress. :)

      As for the fruit: The cleaner and more alkaline our bodies are, the more we can handle fruit and do well with it. Fruit is the strongest cleanser of any food, and can produce some adverse reactions in people that are still transitioning or acidic. Since it still is sugar, it is also not great for people with candida. If there is fruit in the Green Smoothies and you have lost all that weight and NOT eaten other, heavier foods, that is great! It sounds like you are doing well with it. But as always, please monitor how you feel, and see what your doctor says. Dried fruit like dates can be helpful substitutions for cane sugar and other processed sugar desserts. If we are still trying to lose weight, limit your dried fruits because they are concentrated sugar. Later on, you can enjoy them more after we have cleansed more and lost more weight.
      Hortencia- have you had any gravity-centered colonics? With all your dietary shifts and fantastic progress, I think now would be a great time to get some. They can really help clean out more of the junk and detox you more, and you will feel great!

      • Kimberly, I so appreciate your comments and wondering how I was!!!! Love it! I just keep thinking how freaking fabulous you look! I want to “treat” myself sometimes, like with the Mexican food thing, but just can’t – my hubby and I KNOW it is all the veggies and reduction of dairy (none really). Those seem to be the major impactors.

        Colonics, yeeeeaaahhh, I just feel like I am doing a major cleansing right now so and I’m not really ready for that.

        I mean, on that particular day, Tyra Banks had a colonic on her show (first one on t.v.) I knew generally of what it consisted before but they did talk a bit about what is flushed out and I just don’t feel like I have those issues. I have never really been backed up or such. But the massaging you did on one post, I can get w/ that — if I need it.

    Just curious about the Agave Nectar. I’m trying to get pregnant and read on an earlier post that this could cause miscarriage. What other alternative would you suggest besides stevia? I, like you, don’t care for the taste in the desserts I’ve made of yours. Yick! So could I use Maple syrup or honey? What do you think? Thanks for your positive energy you share with all of us.

  • Hi, I just discovered this blog, so I realize this post is quite late, but what kind of bananas would be best for the fro-yo? I’ve frozen somewhat overly ripe bananas and eaten them with a spoon before for a great simple dessert, but never tried blending them in a food processor. I imagine underripe bananas wouldn’t work for this? Thanks!

  • I love the banana soft serve! But I couldn’t make the chocolate sauce “saucy” without reaching for the agave. What would you suggest instead? Maple syrup, honey, almondmilk? The stevia is good for sweetness but does nothing for texture.

    • Hi Shannon, you can use maple syrup or honey, or my new fave, coconut nectar, which is low-glycemic and has a low fructose content. It’s pretty awesome! :)

  • Hey Kim, please get back to me on this. I was wondering if you can eat the banana soft serve as a dessert? …since it’s fruit will it cause backup? Like you said, never have fruit for dessert! Please let me no! Thanks.

  • My didn’t come out right… I just know it. (I used the powder cacao) It was soooooo sweet, yikes! My mini food processor didn’t do the greatest job, I found chunks of raisins in the fudge. Sigh, I really need better quality small appliances. On another note, the Raw Cacao Truffles came out amazing!!

    I would really love to work privately with you.I have had an immune disorder for most of my life. I also have hypothyroidism
    I have been following your plan for 6 weeks. I do feel much better. I have not however taken off any weight,which is very frustrating.
