So my obsession with turtles is no secret. :) And there is nothing quite like seeing the little guys in the wild! There is just something about their dangly legs and lazy eyes that gets me! My turtle tank with my 2 turtles is in my living room where I do a lot of work, and admittedly my favorite procrastination is to look over and watch them swim around the tank. Too cute!!
But what has really made a drastic change in their behavior is their food, as I’ve discussed in some other blogs. They used to eat turtle pellets which were composed of processed fish and wheat, and lots of fillers. They were constantly begging for food, frantically so, and could never sit still!
Now they eat only lettuce and greens, and they swim around the tank calmly, look at me with their big eyes, and chill on their rocks. It is a COMPLETE change in behavior.
Fresh food and a good percentage of living food will calm our minds and make us more adaptable to any environment we are in, and help us deal with stress. Besides looking better, we will really feel better and be able to think more clearly.
How much of your diet is comprised of human “turtle pellets”, ie food that comes from boxes, cans, microwave containers, bags, etc? What percentage is it really, when you take a close look? How can we reduce that percentage and replace some of those foods with fresh foods that are completely unprocessed? By the way, commercial cereal is very much processed food. I never eat that. Do you buy packaged hummus, salsa and other dips? Why don’t you make your own? You can make a batch to last a few days to save on time. For nearly the same time it takes to make a microwaved dinner you could slice up an avocado and throw some sprouts and lemon on it for a fast meal. There really are options, like my taco salad recipe, an awesome dish for any occasion!
Watch your processed foods go down and your calmness and intuition go up.
With love, Kimberly
