It goes without saying that I adore bananas! I eat 3 (or sometimes more) every day. You’d think I’d be swinging from trees by now! I believe bananas are one of the perfect foods for humans, and I use them in my afternoon smoothie snacks as often as possible.

Digestive Health With Apples
Though apples may seem like a basic, everyday fruit, this juicy fruit is an incredible beauty food.
One of the health benefits I want to highlight is the impact they have on bacteria in the digestive tract. For instance, in studies on laboratory animals, intake of apples is known to significantly alter amounts of two bacteria (Clostridiales and Bacteriodes), in the large intestine.
As a result, metabolism in the large intestine is also changed. Many of these changes appear to provide health benefits, such as, more fuel available to the large intestine cells (in the form of butyric acid) after apple is consumed. You will also have a better gut and overall health in general.
Apples have a special type of soluble dietary fiber called pectin. This is particularly cleansing to your inner system, which makes it therefore outwardly beautifying.
In addition to that, apples have been linked to lowering cholesterol levels, weight loss, and preventing cardiovascular disease, even cancer.
*Note: Green apples are lower in sugar than red apples and can be substituted in this recipe, if you desire.
I don’t know about you but I love the smell of these warming spices! They not only have physical benefits but attribute to overall feelings of happiness.
Nutmeg is believed to help reduce gas and aid bloating and constipation (a big Beauty doozy). You only need a small pinch or so to benefit.
*Note: If you are pregnant or nursing, you might want to avoid nutmeg, as certain other spices, to err on the side of caution.
This fragrant, sweet and warm tasting spice is perfect to use during the fall and winter months. Honestly, I use it all year round.
Believe it or not, cinnamon is an excellent source of fiber and calcium. This combination is important in preventing several different conditions. This is because calcium and fiber can bind to bile salts and help remove them from the body.
By removing bile, fiber helps to prevent the damage that certain bile salts can cause to colon cells, reducing the risk of colon cancer. When the bile toxins are removed the body must break down cholesterol in order to make new bile. This process helps lower high cholesterol levels, which can be helpful in preventing heart disease.
For sufferers of irritable bowel syndrome, the fiber in cinnamon may also provide relief from constipation or diarrhea.
A fun fact is: take a piece of cinnamon, chew it and swallow it; it quickly absorbs and helps the body, and is obviously far better than sugar!

This slightly sweet and warming spice increases blood flow and body temperature. It’s high in omega-3 fatty acids, manganese, and vitamin K. Cloves also contain eugenol, which serves as an antiseptic and mild anesthetic.
Cloves also increase energy and by ingesting them—leaves you sweetly scented (a bonus in feeling beautiful from the inside out!).

- Add 1 ½ cup coconut water
- Next, add 1 medium red apple, peeled, cored and chopped
- 1 medium banana, peeled and broken into several pieces (Frozen)
- Dash of powdered nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- Dash of powdered cloves
- 1 Date, pit removed
- Blend all ingredients together starting on low and increasing speed as needed.
