Here are a 5 easy changes to bring in the New Year- and keep them forever! My approach to food and nutrition is not about “diet” versions of things, fad diets, deprivation or counting calories/carb grams.
It’s about eating the best food, in abundance, and feeling and looking your best. The foods that help burn fat has the ability to make you glow, feel great, look beautiful, and effortlessly maintain your weight.
Yay! I can’t wait for you to feel and look your best! These are some tips I live by.
1. Makes salads the base of your meals that you build around- not a protein. For instance, check out the Kale Salad and the Saturday Salad. There is so much easily digestible, easily assimilated proteins, readily available amino acids, and good and beautifying fats in these hearty salads.
Greens are full of chlorophyll, minerals and are very alkalizing. So shift your mentally completely that salads are the “side dish” to fish, chicken, etc. Salads are it!!!
2. Don’t substitute wheat bread for white bread. The lesser of 2 evils. Have sprouted bread, sparingly (Ezekial brand, Shiloh farms, etc.- look for “sprouted” on the label).
These breads are much more enzymatically active, and will digest much easier! Wheat is a huge food allergy (after dairy) that most people have a hard time digesting. Read: Makes you hold on to weight.
3. Have at least the juice of one full lemon every day. Squeeze lemons on salads, in water, on food. Lemons thin the bile and support the rebuilding of liver tissue- so will help detoxify us and help optimize our fat-burning processes. I am constantly squeezing lemons and have 2+ a day.
4. Time to give up the fizzy poison: Diet Coke. Your skin will never be happier, and YOU will never be happier b/c you can start to drop toxins and those few pesky spare pounds since Diet Coke is full of high glycemic fake sugars. (See my blog “The Diet that Makes You Fat). And yes, Splenda is bad!!!!
5. Make a resolution to have a green smoothie (See My Glowing Green Smoothie® recipe) every day. Okay, that may be a lot for you- start with at least two a week- surely you can make time for a little blending on the weekends.
The more you have them, the constitution of your body will shift and you will have more energy, drop weight, get a ton of energizing nutrients, and become more beautifully alkaline. It is worth the effort.
May all your goals and dreams come true this year!
Love,
Kimberly
Hi Jess,
You left me a comment on here, that I started to read but accidentally hit delete! Sorry!! Please resend me your question. I think it had something to do with sugar.
I will answer it promptly.
Thank you and all my best!!
Hello and thank you so much for your health knowledge. Recently new user and believer in Envision. Just finished your blogs and confused where to start. Just ordered the pilates power gym-want to begin my healthy way of life. So want to incorporate your healthy eating. Alot of foods to purchase, not sure where to start first. I also drink pure acai pulp. Do you know much about this? I have already seen changes in my hair, skin, nails, and migranes. One of my biggest concerns-I am a big tea and coffee drinker. Is there a healthy and safe sweetner? Big splenda user. Thank you for your time. Jill
Hi Jill!
Thanks so much for reaching out. I’m excited for you that you want to become a new, healthier you!!
First of all, Splenda is very high glycemic, so will actually promote weight gain as it spikes your blood sugar. Stevia is an acceptable sweetener, which is an herb from South America. You can even get it is individual packets like Splenda.
Don’t get overwhelmed by all the foods- just remember that the most alkalizing, beautifying, and important foods of all are the greens. Start with incorporating the green smoothie into your life, every day if you can. You will notice a huge difference in your energy. This will cut back on all your desire to drink all that coffee at the same time. You can also try Rooibus tea, which has no caffeine but is very energizing. Remember that caffeine is taxing on the liver! Which is our main fat burning organ. So go easy with it.
I buy Acai frozen at the store, and blend it into smoothies. I love it!
Let me know how you do, and please don’t hesitate to ask any more questions.
All my very best!!
Kimberly
Hey Kimberly! I just found your blog through another blog I read everyday (Jolie Nadine.) She is, with the help of you, going to do a six week raw food challenge! I became inspired by her, and read your blog soon after. I am so excited to start replacing at least one or two meals a day for raw ones. I always considered myself pretty healthy, but realized how much I am still doing that is probably pretty taxing on my health. So I went to Whole Foods and bought things for your green smoothie, olives, avocado, almond milk, almond and apple butter, almonds, and sprouted bread. Of course I also bought a lot of fruit and veggies. I just had some questions about how much to eat, and what I should mainly be eating (so I don’t just O.D. on olives and nuts because I will!) Can you maybe post a blog or answer me with kind of a sample day menu for you?? Thanks so much for this site, I am so excited!
Hi Angie,
That is so great that you are interested in changing your diet! And eating more raw foods! You will feel and look great. I will post a blog on a sample menu for sure, in the near future. I’ll also post one, “Getting Started with Raw Food” or something like that.
You can also ask me any questions you have. Remember everything in moderation. But as you get really balanced, your body will be able to tell when you are “overdosing” on even a raw food.
Thanks for the great blog idea! And stay tuned.
All my best,
Kimberly
Hi Kimberly!
I feel like some wonderful power directed me to your website. First I found out about The Solution, and am so looking forward to trying it! Second, reading your blog has made me feel like a huge weight has lifted. I am excited to follow your suggestions and keep learning! For a long time I have been searching for a more vibrant lifestyle, and this year am working very hard, but I feel sometimes at a loss for guidance. I live in a tiny, middle-of-nowhere town (6,000 people). The grocery store has about 2 organic vegetables (which both look like they were harvested last year). There’s no yoga class. I work long hours at a very stressful job and just feel like my health and vitality are leaving me little by little each day. What can I do–short of moving to NYC–to get a handle on myself? I need help, but I know that even baby steps would make a huge difference at this point.
Many thanks and all the best!
Morgan
Hi Morgan,
Thanks for reaching out and emailing me! I am so happy that we did discover each other. :)
You are going to love The Solution- your skin can breathe, while getting the nutrition it needs. It is designed to be like raw food for your face.
You can get all your raw nuts, herbs, spices, sea vegetables like dulse online. Everything except for the nuts I get at a website called Mountain Rose Herbs. There are other great nut websites I’m sure, where you can get in bulk, but I haven’t really tried any because I usually get mine at Trader Joe’s, or this health store near me in New York. As for produce- even it if it not organic, do you have access to local produce? Is there a farmer’s market in your town, or nearby, where you can go on the weekends? I know it can be challenging finding organic produce everywhere- but all you can do is your best, and at least try to get local, or at least the freshest and best looking stuff.
You should try to have the green smoothie every day- add more banana, lemon, and apple if the taste is difficult for you at first. You will get a lot of energy, and your body will start to shift into being more alkaline with so many easily assimilated greens. This will definitely increase your vitality!
Also- don’t resort to coffee. You should drink nourishing herbal teas. If you have no access to them, maybe you can get them on line too. I like the Yogi Teas, and I really like the Chai Rooibios, which has no caffeine but is naturally energizing.
As for the yoga- great news! My yoga video is coming out in the near future. Then we can do yoga together. :) There is a led meditation, where you can just sit and get centered, and I think it would be really good for you to do that sometimes- maybe every day if you can. As busy as I am, I have to meditate twice a day. I consider it the most important activity I do. If I miss it, I turn into a stressed out mess!
Have you tried any of the recipes- like the raw fudge or the cinnamon balls? Raw deserts are so great for you and make me really happy. :)
Well, hope that helps to start!
Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing and what is working for you.
Take care and all my very best,
Kimberly
Kimberly,
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me! It is much appreciated. I am doing really well on my journey so far! And I am having a blast blending all the time! I just made your cinnamon treats, and your FUDGE, and all I have to say is WOW! I even got my husband to indulge, and he is really impressed! One quick, quick question though: How long do a lot of the foods you create keep? Such as the green smoothie, your desserts, etc? Knowing will be extremely helpful in my busy planning! Thanks again so much for the inspiration and guidance! All the best!
Angie
Hi Angie,
That is so awesome! That is so great that you are enjoying the blending. It is the most amazing kitchen concept in the world I think. Makes everything break down so much easier in your body. If you like the cinnamon treats you and your husband are going to love my raw truffles recipe I am going to post for Valentine’s Day. So stay tuned!
The green smoothie is good for about 2 days as long as you keep it really covered in the fridge. The deserts last longer b/c there is no produce in them- maybe 5-6 days? If they stay around that long. :)
Okay, let me know if you have any more questions!
Keep up the great work with your health- your organs must be so happy right now.
All my very best,
Kimberly
Hi,
I just found your blog while exploring all this raw food thing which is a quite new “trend” in Finland. You are fantastic! Love your postings, recipes, yoga videos etc. I´ve been reading all your postings till this one in 2 hours and cant wait to read the rest. You also have lovely turtles, I have also a small musk turtle and 3 cats of which only one eats mostly raw food and is energetic. The other cat has unfortunately eaten mostly processed food and is passive:( Wonder why. Trying to change it..anyway I also keep a food blog in Finland and this really inspires me. Thank you!!!
ps. I have similar shorts, those green ones from Thailand:)
heidi
HI Heidi!
I’m happy to hear that raw food is catching on in Finland (a country I’ve never been to!). And ha! I love my green shorts, and green is my favorite color!
