Also I am wondering if my Broccoli has gone yellow is that a bad sign. I keep it in my fridge in the vegetable bin, and the dark green parts have gone yellow, well a greenish yellow. . So should I throw it out?
I would. Broccoli is supposed to be green not yellow.

Yes definitely! Discoloration is a sign that the veggie is past its prime.

I got a question about food combining and green smoothies that I hope you’ll answer-
I saw on another website a recipe for a green smoothie with chia seeds. Since I’ve been doing green smoothies I’ve only been using greens and fruits because I read those combine well, but when you add other ingredients, it won’t digest well. I’m thinking about trying this, because I’m not crazy about chia seeds (not quite sure what to with them other than make pudding) but I’d like to get the benefits of them. So is it not a good idea to add other ingredients like chia, ground flax, and hemp powder to green smoothies or can you gain some benefit?
I would not put those seeds in the green smoothie. You can add them to salads though, which would be a better idea!

Do you have an opinion on Dr. Doug Graham’s 80/10/10 diet?
In case you’re not familiar with it, it’s basically that you eat mostly fresh fruit, some greens, and occasionally very small amounts of things like avocado/nuts/seeds. No spices, honey, oil, ferments, etc.
I haven’t been as successful as I’d like on a more inclusive raw/living vegan diet, and have been thinking about making the switch. Could you please share what your thoughts are about the 80/10/10 idea?

I just came across your blog and it is so inspiring that I pre-ordered your book in amazon! Can’t wait to read it! Anyhow, I am doing the master cleanse for the first time which I know you are not a fan of. I am on day 5 and plan to continue for 2 more days (7 days total) I thought of quitting after reading your thoughts on it but I am feeling some sort of accomplishment after being on it for 5 days and quitting now will make me feel…oh I don’t know… a quitter? I really started the cleanse b/c I wanted a fresh start and begin eating healhier. I plan to start drinking your green smoothie (at least 3x a week) as well as your detox smoothie (at least once a week)And of course eat lots of veggies and good carbs along the way! Does this sound like a good plan? For protein I do eat grilled chicken and fish I must say. What do you eat for protein? I am bit afraid to eat solids right away after the cleanse so I might start drinking your smoothies for a few days until I can eat solids. I am 38yrs old with no health issues and eat somewhat healthly. I exercise at least 5 times a week (cardio and light weights) but struggling to lose those extra 10-15 pds…arrrgghh. So happy to come across your website! I wish you all the success!
Hi Kimberly, Congrats on your continued success! If I am trying to lose weight how often would I drink the green smoothie instead of a meal and how many ounces per smoothie? Would I add any other regular meals to my daily caloric intake? And, is it okay to make the smoothie ahead of time and keep in the frig, I am afraid it would lose some nutritional value? Also, I have been doing fruit smoothies in the morning and adding cinnamon, turmeric, cayenne pepper, and cardamom. Should I continue to add those to every green smoothie and forgo the fruit smoothie?

Question for you..
Sometimes I replace the fruit in the green smoothie with chia seeds for protein to stay full.. what do you think of that option? Is it ok since there is no fruit and it is a protein/fiber/vegetable combination?
