Many people think eating healthy and taking care of yourself takes tons of time and effort. That’s really not the case! It’s easy to stick to a healthy eating lifestyle if you become conscious of the the best foods to eat to promote your health and beauty, and start to prioritize getting these foods into your life.
If you put a little more thought into your meals ahead of time, you won’t have to scramble and resort to eating something that you regret.
You can start by taking a few hours out of your week to stock up on quality, nutritious food items. That way you can have quick meals ready to go ahead of time, so you don’t have to scramble once the week gets hectic. Here are a few meal ideas, and ingredients to get you started. 1. Green Salad: This should always be a staple. Green salads are rich in all your necessary vitamins and minerals. You can stock up on lots of different types of greens at local farmer markets during the week.
Then just quickly mix them up, add some other veggies, like avocado, broccoli and bell peppers, and you have a quick, fresh and healthy meal. It’s not as hard as you may think.
For some ideas of new greens to try, check out my blog on how to green your diet.
2. Pureed Veggie Soup: This is always a favorite. Pureeing fresh veggies into a soup is an easy way to prepare a meal ahead of time, and by blending the veggies your body can assimilate the nutrients without any digestive effort.
I like to make a big serving of the soup on the weekends, that way I can just gently heat it up when I want a nice warm bowl of healthy soup, or in this weather- eat it room temperature!
You can use pureed cauliflower, squash, carrot, tomato or any other veggie that looks good and in season!
These blended soups can be eaten hot, or raw, which will also preserve the enzymes. Try my Raw Red Pepper and Tomato Soup and Cauliflower Energy Soup.
3. Quinoa: Quinoa is a delicious grain that you can prepare and enjoy at any time. It’s easy to store in the fridge and stays fresh for a few days.
This is a great meal to prepare ahead of time and grab on the go, especially if you are looking for a super filling option.
I like to add veggies to my quinoa, to incorporate different flavors. I’ll throw a salad together and add some of my quinoa dish to it and pack it as a great plane food.
I have lots of recipes in my book, the Beauty Detox Solution, like my quinoa stuffed peppers, one of my favorites!
4. Half of an avocado on sprouted gluten-free grain crackers: The combination of avocado and crunchy grain crackers is a perfect way to satisfy your hunger in a hurry.
The avocado provides healthy fats and protein, and the crackers give a healthy carb and a nice crunch. It’s also easy to prepare.
Just pick up some fresh avocados at a farmers market or grocery store, and some natural grain crackers (brown rice, flaxseed, quinoa, etc.), then you have a meal in minutes. Its a perfect thing to pack for lunch on a busy day.
5. Rolled Oat Cereal: Oats such as oat groats and organic oatmeal are known to be one of the best energy choices there are.
Sometimes I even eat it throughout the day when I’m ready for something dense and comforting. I love to add cinnamon, stevia and almond milk for flavor and creaminess.
My Raw Rolled Oat cereal incorporates avocado, which is also very yummy. Oats are a great source of protein, minerals and fiber.
They’re also very easy to make. I just soak the oats overnight and rinse well and eat them uncooked, but you can also cook them with water, and garnish as you like. Just make sure to get oats that are organic and minimally processed.
Love,
Kimberly
Hi Kim,
Do you think you could do a post on facial skin care, in the context of what products to use on our faces?
I switched to natural, organic products long ago, but I’m hoping for some more guidance. I’m using Burt’s Bees Soap Bark cream to wash my face, and sometimes I use brown sugar to exfoliate or I use apple cider vinegar as a rinse. Then I rub pure jojoba oil on my face. Should I be using an eye cream? How often should we wash our faces? I know wearing a hat is best, but is organic sunblock okay to wear when wearing a hat isn’t feasible?
P.S. I just finished your book and I loved it!
-Marcheline
I have a magazine feature coming out soon that highlights a lot of the skincare products I like. I would recommend using coconut oil instead of the jojoba oil, b/c of its Lauric Acid content which is moisturizing as well as anti-bacterial. The sunscreen is okay as long as the active ingredient is titanium dioxide not oxybenzone or the like.
More soon! xx
Why is it good to have anti-bacterial products on our faces?
Thanks for your help, and I look forward to that magazine feature.
Would you share what magazine you will be featured in so I can start to watch for it. I live in a more isolated(mountainous area in Colorado) and we don’t always have a great selection of magazines locally. Also do you know when your new book will be out on the market.
I am someone new to your site(1st post). I have your book, read it and am following it with great physical, mental, and all over results. I started a tablet and wrote down everything that applies to me so when I am shopping two hours away from home, it is fruitful. I also read the blog and continue to pickup more suggestions. Love that smoothie, the hummus, and all your other food suggestions. I am going to purchase
myself a chock for my sour kraut making. It is also the 1st time I can remember in this life not eating beans. Have also had poor digestion all my life. Also have acted out an addiction to sugar. I have been experiencing natural hunger for the first time in years. Given up yogart, dairy, gulten free breads, agave, bowel softner, and anything with a face. Brought my nori, millet, stevia, and using organic/chemical free products in every aspect of my life . The soaking suggestions for foods will also improve my digestion/health. Also taking the oxygen magenese, “super product”.Will list more of my journey with this wonderful, easy program when time from work allows.
You have terrific positve energy, and are very inspiring for a young woman. Thanks, VLL
Which magazine did you talk about the skin care products you love?
Thanks for the post!
But just wondering, aren’t these too low in calories for an active people who are rather trying to maintain weight? What would be some great “additional” items to make you more full and energized? (or some calorie-dense meals)
Thnx!
HI Stephanie,
Crackers + avocado, quinoa + salad, oatmeal, etc. are more than adequate in calories. Portion size can vary depending on size, activity level, etc. You can always increase the size if you are trying to look for more calories- like a whole avocado on crackers instead of 1/2, or add more healthy oil to salad, etc. As long as you follow the basic Beauty Detox principles, you can customize!
Hi Kimberly
Will try not to ask a question every day, BUT how long do I have to wait after a meal to eat fruit. For instance, a cherry lime-ade in the vitamix. Can I only eat fruit first thing in the morning, or do I just need to wait a certain amount of time for it to digest.
Betsy
Hi Betsy,
Refer to the Beauty Food Pairing chart in The Beauty Detox Solution to see the recommended times between fruit/meals!
xx
Hi Kimberly,
I just bought your book and was so hooked that I finished it in a day! I am eager to get started! I am traveling for work coming up and concerned with how to maintain the diet changes while I am gone.
Thanks!
Britt
Hey Britt! Check out my blogs for travel snacks/foods. Also, just do your best to follow the basic principles. Even if you follow basic rules like limiting liquids with meals, having fruit on an empty stomach, etc. you are improving! Focus on proper Beauty Food Pairing and Light to Heavy, and don’t stress if you can’t get specific foods. xx
i have really bad constipation and most veggies seem to back me up (although i blend greens and coconuts daily and that works ok) and fruit puts me on a blood sugar rollercoaster as well as backing me up! i don’t know what to do. i’m gluten free, dairy free. the only things that work are medjool dates, coconuts, goat yogurt, and fish. red meat and lamb seem to agree with me too. what’s going on?
when i get a colonic things are better for about a month and then it always comes back to this. :( i take magnesium, probiotics.
Hi R, I had similar issues and used to drink Smooth Move Tea every day. Then I went to try a colonic. The person who performed the colonic gave me some great advice and now let’s just say things are really great!
So when I wake up, I take 2 probiotics (5bn ea) plus 1 digestive enzyme pill – look for the ones that only end in “ase” b/c those have the most laxative qualities plus a 400mg Magnesium pill (don’t take more than 450mg per day) plus two 1,000mg Vitamin C pills (nonacidic so it doesn’t irritate your stomach).
*The Vitamin C pills and the Magnesium will really help to get your bowel movements working properly.
Then w/ each meal I take another digestive enzyme and two more Vitamin C pills) and I end the night w/ two more priobiotics. You should experiment w/ the Vitamin C – some people only need a few – I think I take about 10,000mg through out the day but you may not need as much.
You could also try massaging your colon – since it’s so long and curvy sometimes it just needs some help to keep things moving along.
Hope this helps!
Great suggestions Erica!
R, it is hard for me to know specifically what is going on since I haven’t done a full nutritional consultation with you, though it seems if fruit is backing you up there may be some major acidity issues, since you’re reacting that way. Also, have you read the Candida section in my book?
If blending greens works for you, steamed veggies might work for you as well, which is gentler for people with weak digestion, and can help you build up. xx
I am so happy to see oats on there, they are such a comfort food! Every once in a while I get “the hunger” and I do a big bowl with almond milk, coconut butter and cacao nibs…not sure where cacao lies in the beauty food pairings so I’m hoping this combo is OK because it’s sooooooo good :) I used to put almonds or raw almond butter and a banana in there but I’ve trained myself to leave these out!
good girl! and yes cacao nibs are okay :)
in terms of food combining, wouldn’t cacao nibs + oats be against the rules? two concentrated foods?
I think issues arise only when you mix concentrated protein and concentrated starches. The oats dish is just concentrated starches.
P.S. that sounds so yummy! I’ll keep that combo in the back of my mind for a future comfort food option!
This was a REALLY helpful post as I travel nearly as much as you. PS you should do an event here in LA when you are finally home!
Well I had my book launch party there in April, which was a huge to do! But yes hopefully in the future I can do more public events as I’d love to meet y’awll :)
Hi Kimberly!
Thank you for all of your amazing tips and postings- they are all such a wealth of information!
Couple questions; do you have a recipe for the veggie soup in your book? Also, would you recommend, if needed, making a batch of the GGS and using it over a couple days?
The quick oatmeal w almond milk is an excellent idea- can you have this on a regular basis?
Thank you again for informing and inspiring so many!
Best,
Shannon
The recipe for the veggie soups are in the book! Those particular ones are not here. The oatmeal is something I recommend for the Blossoming Beauty phase in particular. :)
Thanks for providing best way to eat meals. I like this article and follow the five steps posted here in my meal. Green salad is my one of favorite item ever.
Hi kim! what do you think of taking vitamin b5 against acne? Take care Mimi
I think acne is a complex issue not easily remedied with any one supplement, even zinc and Vitamin A. Check out my acne blogs! xx
Hi Kim,
First I’d like to say I absolutely loved your book! It’s the best detox, nutrition book I’ve read yet.
I have began consuming the Glowing Green Smoothie for breakfast but there are days when I run out of veggies or don’t have the time to make the smoothie. I know you recommend freezing leftovers but my go-to breakfast used to be two or three pieces of fruit. I noticed in the recent books I’ve read, veggies are more emphasized than fruits. I’m just wondering if on the days that I don’t have the Smoothie if it’s okay for me to eat just the fruit?…Maybe two mornings a week? I just don’t want to put a dent in my progress by thinking it’s okay to have fruit (and only fruit) occasionally for breakfast if it’s really not. Thank you!
Sascha
Hey Sascha, Great! And veggies are more important than fruit in general, and it depends which phase you’re in. You can also have veggie soup with some plain spinach in the morning, which sounds like of weird but is actually yummy. :) I do it sometimes, as I had soup a lot in the morning when I was traveling through China and Japan. xx
Sometimes I grab a Naked Smoothie drink, the green machine flavor, since I think it’s a health on the go food to have. Despite it not being actual food, it’s really filling! I wanted to know your opinion on drinks such as those! It doesn’t replace your glowing green smoothies, but for on the go will it pass as a smart healthy choice?
Thanks,
Erica
HI Kim,
I have been on the Radiant Beauty for 5 weeks now. I love it so much and the first week my skin was looking awesome! But my acne is getting worse now. Most in the jaw area, where i’ve always had problems (except during pregnancy) HELP! Is this detoxing? I dont know what to do, it’s making me sad and I have started to eat “bad things” again… Do you have any recommendation for me? I cannot do the colonic at home. I have tried but I haven’t been successful (5 minutes top).
Alexandra, I’m having the EXACT same problem in the same place – my jawline being the worst part (also broken out all over face and neck – sounds awful and it is – and it seems to have started when I started detoxing in general) so, I do believe it is a symptom of the detox, but it is a slow process – it took 30+ yrs for me to get all toxic so now I feel it’s not going to detox over night – I’ve been eating much, much healthier for about 6mos – following many, but not all of kim’s priciples – i have 3 kids under 5 and can only make so many changes at once – i still do/eat some of the things that I know I shouldn’t but like I said earlier, it’s a process and I don’t beat myself up too much over every deviation. I’m just going to stick w/it and do better and better over time and hopefully this awful acne condition will get better and better as I get cleaner and cleaner on the inside. All the best to you…
I do NOT recommend Naked or Odwalla smoothie drinks, or anything of the like. They are pasteurized, which makes fruit acid-forming in the body, and they are extremely high in sugar.
If you can’t make the GGS, have plain fresh fruit, or get the Green Vibrance green powder packets.
xx
Thanks for your insight! No more Naked for me! Love your blog & your book! :)
Hi Kimberly,
I start reading your book 2 weeks ago, I love it! I have two questions:
I only have a juicer, is it okay if I drink the green juice iso the green smoothie?
Also, I try to stick to your principles and have been eating raw untill dinner(to not overdo it) but am really struggling with constipation – do you perhaps have any advice?
I am really inspired and cant wait to see the results of eating beauty foods! I just need to get the digestion part right first!
Great Post Kim
HI! So I don’t know where to write this and sadly it is not a reply to this blog post BUT I just want to let you know that I got your book and it has made me feel so much better. I am 25 and had IBS, extra weight to lose, bad allergies, dark circles, no energy, trouble sleeping, tons of stress… I was a mess! But I have been eating better and lost some weight and have way more energy! My stomach doesn’t bother me like it used to and I have cut down on craving bad foods. I even have fewer PMS symptoms. I really just want to thank you. This is the first “diet”- I know it isn’t really it is more of a lifestyle- that I can truly say has helped me. I am 125lbs for the first time since middle school. I am 20 lbs lighter than I was in highschool. And on top of it all, I love the way I look. I don’t pick on myself like I have in the past. I just want to thank you for everything. :-)
hi Kim,
Your blog is great, i discovered it a few days ago and i am so impressed! thanks for sharing your knowledge on the www.
i see that you often add stevia. that’s a problem for me because i live in the netherlands and cant get it here. what do you recommend in stead of stevia? i’ve heard that honey will do as well, do you agree with that?
thanks again,
jude
Hi Kimberly! I made your quinoa, avo and corn salad last night. However since I was also eating your avo salad dressing, I substituted mushrooms and red peppers for the avo in the quinoa. It was great! Even my 70 year old father-in-law who is suspicious of “new” foods loved it. Keep the recipes coming! Yum!
Hi Kimberly,
Thank you for providing all these great info.
How much protein can we get from an avocado (average size)?
Yes, I Googled but this answer varies depending on the source and I’m wondering.
As you said in your book, I know I don’t have to worry about counting the consumption of protein in my diet. Basically I don’t eat animal food and I have a lot of energy. :)
But sometimes I still think about the amount of protein I take is sufficient. Do you think I shouldn’t think this way?
Thank you again for your help.
Hey Kimberly,
Quick question, can I have your key lime bars as dessert? or does the lime in the bars count as fruit and have to be eaten on its own before dinner?
Thanks for your help!!
Alice
Hi Kimberly,
Can you post about foods that can help banish acne? I suffered from cystic acne and I feel that it is food related. I want to know what foods to avoid and what foods I need to have to have clearer skin.
Thanks alot :)
Hi Kim,
Is there a cracker or gluten free bread you would recommend? I think there is a cracker recipe in the book. But I get a bit busy and (maybe lazy) juggling life and my little one.
Hi Kimberly…
These posts help a lot since I’m presently pregnant and breastfeeding at the same time and hungry!!! Any suggestions for trying to stick with a mostly raw diet?
Love these ideas, thanks! I have a question. I have been enjoying the green smoothie every morning for the past 3 weeks and feeling great!
Today, I didn’t have access to fruit or veg in the morning so I tried raw oats with coconut butter and almond milk. Then I had mad sugar cravings all day! Does our body get used to having this green fruity blast in the morning and then freak out if it doesn’t get the fruit sugar? The carb/sugar cravings were really bad physically all day and I indulged way too much in bad combinations and now I have gas…it’s amazing how you really can tell the effects of bad beauty pairings, before I was totally oblivious!
Could you please offer some brand names for a probiotic supplement and a magnesium-oxygen supplement? Whatdo you suggest for a digestive enzyme?
Also, where might I find these?
I will use this 5 best food for good health
Hey kim,
Love your blog, ive bought your book which i also love. Ive just got a little question, i work night shifts and was wondering how i can manage to fit the food plan around that. I dont hv a set period of nights shifts, so one week i be working long days and another week i could be working nights. This obviously affects my body, my energy levels are very low, andmy diet aint great. i was just hoping you would be able to give me a few pointers. Especially what i can eat on nights. Thanks x

i am waiting for next 5. ……..
these a great ideas! especially being a student, this post was so helpful.
Usually I do not read article on blogs, but I would like to say that this write-up very compelled me to check out and do so! Your writing taste has been amazed me. Thanks, quite great article.
Kim,
I saw you on the Today Show and immediately went into action and bought your book (twice, first on my kindle then paperback for easier reference and to share with hubby). I will soon be 63 years old and my skin became lackluster, I was bloated, and had gained weight. My husband had an outbreak of shingles after years of steroids and other medications, plus he had become listless and gained 40 pounds.
What a difference a week made! I lost 7 pounds, although I regularly did aquatics and some yoga, hubby had stopped his exercise and this week we walked about 3 miles a day! My skin is radiant, really! Hubby said he feels better than he has in years and it so great to see him dance!
My pins of your recipes are constantly repinned and I know you have new followers as a result. I also Tweet and FB everything. Starting Monday, I will start a journal on line. My Vitamix comes next week also.
Here is one thing I am unsure of; I made the probiotic enzyme salad using another recipe where the cabbage, miso, and caraway seed made its own brine, then once the cabbage wilted, I put it in a jar, covered with cabbage leaves, weight, and lid.
Now, I am scared to eat it! I see little white specs throughout the batch and assume these are live cultures, but what if i created a poison? It tastes good and I am not sick, yet. How do I know it is safe to eat?
I hope you come out with your own line of products and continue your success. Your story is amazing and your authenticity and dedicated journey are the main reasons I chose to follow your plan and was what contributed to get hubby on board (he is usually very skeptical).
Blessings,
Claudia
Can I simply just say what a comfort to uncover someone who genuinely knows what they’re talking about online. You certainly realize how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More people need to check this out and understand this side of the story. I was surprised that you’re not more popular because you certainly possess the gift.|
I blog quite often and I really appreciate your content. This great article has truly peaked my interest. I am going to book mark your site and keep checking for new details about once a week. I opted in for your RSS feed too.|
