Today I want to talk to you about affirmations, which are a very powerful tool that you can incorporate into your life to help you achieve your health and beauty goals.
This is something that I talk about in my next book, The Beauty Detox Power. I want to introduce the idea that there’s so many other tools that we can and should be applying in our lives beyond just focusing on how we’re working out and how we’re eating.
Our thoughts are really, really powerful and actually there’s amazing research showing how our thoughts have an effect on the body.
I want to read you a study that came out of the Weizmann Institute of Science that is in the book. The researchers found a phenomenon called the Observer Effect, which is an effect that an observer has on an observed reality through the very act of watching.
The researchers demonstrated how a beam of electrons changes when it is being observed. Even more remarkable, they determined that the longer the observation period, the greater the change.
What that means is, basically, in this particular study they showed that when you watch or when something watches itself, it actually enacts change. As far as this relates to affirmations, as we watch our thoughts, it can actually help to change our reality, and our reality of course includes how easy or how hard it is to achieve our weight loss goals and our beauty goals.
It’s important to start to self-observe and begin to really think about what’s going on in your mind.
Start to notice what thoughts you’re repeating to yourself over and over again. If you’re saying things like, “I’m so fat,” or “It’s so hard to lose weight,” or “I’m so weak,”, such thoughts can actually have a physiological effect in the body. Especially when these thoughts are repeated over and over again. There is more astounding research and studies in The Beauty Detox Power that demonstrates this phenomenon.
Affirmations are really powerful because they can actually help to dislodge and replace these negative thoughts with a positive energy, positive thought patterns.
Thoughts that are really supportive of our goals.
When practiced regularly and with enthusiasm and with real belief, affirmation can actually really enact change in the body and mind, and our whole lives, actually.
How would you do an affirmation? I would say it’s good to start with something really, really simple. Something that resonates with you.
It could be as simple as, “I love my body,” “I accept myself,” or, “I am beautiful just as I am.” You could say that thought out loud or silently…or even just writing it down and reading it can start that energetic shift, but it has to be practiced regularly.
Every morning saying or reading affirmations is a great practice, and it’s something that I do myself. Or in the evening, before you drift off to sleep, you can just say that affirmation a few times. “I accept myself, I accept my body just as I am.” “I love my body, I love my body just as it is.” Just pick a simple phrase to begin.
It may feel uncomfortable at first and you may feel like, “Oh, yeah right,” as you’re saying it in your head right away, but just keep going. Try to dismiss down and skepticism, and generate real enthusiasm for the true possibility of what you are verbalizing or reading.
Affirmations also expose potential areas where there is negativity and self-doubt. By practicing the affirmation, we’re just starting to clear out that negativity. That will start to enact real energetic shifts.
Your thoughts do have such an impact on your reality, and they have an impact on all facets of your life.
Consciously bringing in these affirmations is a way to really start changing your thought patterns and, again, rooting out negative beliefs which may be holding you back. You may not even be conscious of them, but as you start to regularly practice your affirmations, pick an easy phrase, 1 or 2 to start, and keep saying them over and over again.
It will start to enact this energetic shift which is so powerful. It’s something that I’ve personally been practicing for a while, and I’ve noticed a big difference in my life.
We all have ups and downs, we all have self-doubt. So many of us don’t really love ourselves or don’t accept ourselves.
Affirmations can be a way for you to foster that self-love, and through that self-love you can increase your magnetism and your radiance and start really creating the energetic shifts, both physically and in every way in your life.
I hope that this was helpful. Let me know in the comments below what affirmations that you’re interested in practicing, that you’re attracted to, or just your thoughts about affirmations in general. I love to hear from you!
Thank you so much and I will see you back here very soon.
Namaste and love,
Kimberly
