Being part of the Beauty Detox tribe, you quickly come to realize that we take a stand for what we believe in. This is by the choices we make and the way we live our life. This is what I always take into consideration when coming up with new recipes for you guys.
My goal is to help you make choices that are simple and easy to make. I also want to make sure they are great additions to your daily food choices.
My Berry Burst Antioxidant Smoothie Recipe is filled with easily anti-aging berries and warming cinnamon. You will go into the new year with brighter, more beautiful and glowing skin, for sure!
But it’s important to remember that there are…
Foods We Must Buy Organic: Berries
I know we can’t always afford to purchase all of our ingredients from the organic section. However, there are foods that we should always look for in the organic version. Berries fall into this category.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) publishes a Dirty Dozen list of produce items to get organic. This list can help you avoid upwards of 80% of pesticide exposure. And likewise, the Clean 15 is made up of foods less important to get organic (if budget is an issue).
Pesticides that soak into fleshy fruits, like apples, can really add to the toxic load our systems have to deal with. This can lead to accelerated aging and lower energy. I first talked about eating organic back with my first book, The Beauty Detox Solution, and have been pushing it hard every since!
With places like Costco offering more organic options, it’s becoming more and more affordable to eat healthier. Yay about that!!
The wild blackberries we use in this recipe are some of the most amazing, antioxidant-beauty gifts from nature to us to ingest. When you sip on this please don’t forget to give a moment of thanks to our universal mother, Mother Nature!!

I am in Sydney Australia, and is extremely difficult to get organic berries. None at the farmers markets at all. The wholefoods store has had them once in last few months. Small punnet. $9.99. Quite sour. A major disappointment. $9.99 is a LOT of money to spend to make one smoothie. So I am just buying standard conventional fare. The only times I absolutely insist on organic, is for leafy greens like spinach, or celery or broccoli.
Do the best you can Mary…Progress not perfection, right?! ;) Sending lots of love and support to you!
Hi Kimberly!
Just wondering if we can replace the coconut nectar with raw honey? I currently have that in my cupboard.
I’m a huge fan of yours, have all your books, and love your Facebook and Instagram. Thanks for doing what you do!!!
Much love,
Kathy
Hi Kathy and thanks for your great question. I say, give the honey a try. It has a similar consistency and is still healthier than other sweeteners (I say no to agave). Let me know what you think. Sending lots of love! ;)
It was yummy! Thanks for your recipes…I made the lentil soup today, it was delicious and very filling. Off to read more of Radical Beauty, good night!
Lots of love,
Kathy
How many servings is this? And what is the nutritional content?
Hi Alexandra, it is about 2 servings. In Beauty Detox we don’t focus on calories when we are eating whole foods!:) xx
Hey Kimberly,
I have a question. I read BDS, and am loving it so far, especially the food combining aspect! Much better digestion this way :) I am wondering about adding almond milk to smoothies. I’m assuming it’s fine since its your recipe :p and it’s super yum! but would it be better for digestion if it was just water? I know fruits are supposed to be eaten alone. Thanks for everything.
Hi Olivia and thank you so much for your kind comments. I like to keep the GGS as clean as possible and use water for that recipe. Most of my afternoon smoothies call for unsweetened almond milk or hemp milk, so yes, you can definitely use these milks in the afternoon. Lots of love! ;)
