Why Opt for Dairy-Free Ice Cream & Smoothies?
I used to LOVE serving myself up a scoop of Mint Chip ice cream, back in the day. Thankfully I’ve kicked my dairy eating habits and I’ll never look back (though it did admittedly did take me 2 years to fully get off cheese!). Dairy contains ingredients that are very difficult for humans to process: lactose and casein. Additionally, a lot of dairy products contain hormones that may lead to an array of health problems down the line.
Dairy is also extremely acid-forming and mucus-forming. Meaning its slow to digest in the digestive tract. Which ultimately may lead to more toxicity being compounded in the digestive tract and throughout the body. Hydrating & Creamy Healthy Coconut
Naturally sweet, coconut is incredibly hydrating, which is critical for your health, your beauty, and your overall energy. That’s why I’m including both coconut water and coconut flakes in my Coconut Mint Smoothie recipe. I just can’t ever get enough of the delicious taste of coconut!
When you drink down coconut water, you are putting rich sources of nutrients right into your body. Because coconut water is so full of electrolytes (like potassium), it helps to regulate the fluid levels inside the body’s cells. It balances the high amount of puffiness that may come from too much sodium intake. And who wants to feel all bloated and puffy??
We all deserve to treat ourselves sometimes. And you deserve to indulge in something creamy and delicious! Why not make it healthy and hydrating too?
Cooling & Mineral Containing Mint
Cool fact Beauties… mint is a powerful little herb!
It contains several essential minerals, including phosphorus, magnesium, copper, iron, potassium, and calcium. Who knew right? The phosphorus, magnesium, and calcium it contains are all important minerals for bone health. Mint provides 60 milligrams of magnesium and 200 milligrams of calcium in each 100 gram serving. So say HELLOOO to more minty vibes in your life, because this is one herb we all can benefit from!
Sipping on a Coconut Mint Smoothie can bring relief to your gut, and is far better than that dairy ice cream I grew up with. Mint soothes our guts of inflammation, promoting excellent digestion! This is key, for I am all about cleansing our guts and aiding digestion with everything we put into our bodies.

Feel Cool: Coconut Mint Chip Smoothie
- 1 cup coconut water
- ½ cup young raw coconut meat
- 1 frozen ripe banana
- 6 mint leaves
- ½ tsp. Peppermint extract
- 1 Tbls. cacao nibs
- Place all ingredients into Vitamix.
- Next, blend all your ingredients together until smooth.
- Lastly, garnish with extra cacao nibs and a mint leaf and enjoy!

I also love the taste of coconut and your smoothie. Now I would like to know your take on coconutoil. Some say it is really good, others say it is poison for you, worse than lard… Are there (höhnest) studies that prove either opinion? Thanks for your great work. Silvie
If we can’t get young coconut, should we just omit it? Or replace for unsweetened shredded coconut?
Hi Heide – you can definitely use unsweetened coconut if you’re unable to find young coconut. There is also coconut meat in the frozen section of your market or Trader Joe’s (if you have one near). Lots of love to you! 😉
