When I head to the market to pick up fresh fruit for the week, there are a few factors that help me decide what I am going to put in my cart. First off, I seek out items that are in season and look fresh. From there, I try to find fruits that are versatile, which allows me to have fun enjoying them in various ways. And do you know what fruit checks off all these boxes? Mangos!
Versatility of Mangos
That’s right! Throughout the year, you’ll most likely find at least one of the six main mango varieties sold in the U.S. in season at your local market. Each type of mango has a unique flavor and texture, so it’s wonderful to try different varieties as they ripen at different times of year.
Over this past year, while working with the National Mango Board, I have been amazed at how versatile mangos are! It’s really opened my eyes to the power of these juicy beautiful fruit jewels. Of course, they are so delicious to simply cut up and enjoy plain jane, but when it comes to getting creative with them, it’s well… limitless! Mangos complement such a wide variety of flavors. Once you start playing with them in your kitchen, you’ll see what I am talking about.

Or, if you are in the mood for a yummy midday smoothie, whip up my Zingy Ginger Mango Smoothie! What about a great side dish that is nice and light while also filling? And on the skin side, mangos are high in vitamin C, which is required for collagen formation. Check out my Mango Skin Mask!
See what I am saying? Mangos are extremely versatile, and even better, they are so good for you! Whether you’re in the mood for a sweet or savory dish, drink or dessert, you can find all sorts of recipe inspiration on mango.org.
Amazing Nutritional Value
In addition to an impressive versatile flavor, mangos deliver wonderful nutritional value and make healthy eating a delightful sensory experience. Do you know that just one cup of mango provides you with 20% of your daily folate needs? Folate helps the body make red blood cells and supports healthy cardiovascular function. In that same cup of mango, your body also receives 10% of the daily value for vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 plays a role in the body’s cognitive development and is involved in immune function.
So Beauties, I hope the next time you are trying to figure out what fresh fruits to enjoy you’ll seek out one of the varieties of mangos! They are certainly delicious, and I can’t recommend them enough. Long-term readers might recall some interesting references I made to mangos in The Beauty Detox Power back in 2015, so I’ve actually been raving about mangos for years! There are so many different things you can do with this super fun superfruit. I just can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Sending you lots of love!
