We all deserve to treat ourselves every once in a while. But that doesn’t mean we should reach for the first sweet treat we see at our local markets. That certainly isn’t the best habit to get into, but I understand the convenience of it! That’s why I made this Creamy Banana Spice Cookies recipe for you. I want you to have a simple recipe with common ingredients that you can whip up in no time. Because when that sweet tooth hits, sometimes there is no calming it down. Make a batch of these cookies and feel free to freeze a few so you have them on hand when you crave them the most!
Speaking of cravings Beauties, we all get them and for specific reasons too. It may be that we are dealing with some emotional issues, or that our sleep patterns are off, or even our stress is out of balance. There are specific reasons we get cravings and there are short-term and long-term ways to fight them.
For example, are you constantly craving something super sweet like candy, chocolate or desserts? Do you feel the need to reach for something sweet after each meal or do you feel powerless when there are sweets in front of you? Our bodies naturally crave sugar, and it’s totally healthy to fix that craving with a natural source, like bananas, for example. This is because bananas and other fruits are the most natural form of sugar that humans can consume. Plus fruit comes along with the added beauty benefits of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Unlike refined sugar, fruit nourishes and hydrates your cells. Healthy substitutions, like my Creamy Banana Spice Cookies, are better than processed or refined foods to satisfy your cravings, no matter what.
Have you listened to my podcast episode about Candida and sugar cravings? If not, it is definitely worth checking out! In this episode, I share with you multiple secrets to overcoming sugar cravings, like watching your sodium intake and making sure you get enough sleep! Interesting, right? These and a few others are some very simple things that you can do, that you might not have ever associated with sugar cravings.
Sweet and Savory Spices
Another one of my favorite ways to satisfy a sweet tooth is to incorporate more spices into my life. Yes, Beauty, adding spices to your recipes can help curb that craving for sugar! Plus, spicing it up is a simple way to make your food more interesting, without adding refined sugars that do no good for your skin. You’ll find that you won’t even miss adding sugar to these Creamy Banana Spice Cookies, thanks to all the flavor-boosting spices the recipe calls for.
You’ll taste pops of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger in my Creamy Banana Spice Cookies. The perfect combination of spices in my opinion! These are some of my favorite spices because they are loaded with powerful health and beauty-boosting benefits. According to Ayurvedic medicine, these spices can improve poor digestion and increase your Agni, or digestive fire. They also can do things like, control your blood sugar levels, boost your metabolism, promote detoxification and help rid your body of waste. Now are you starting to see why I love them so much?
Thanks to all these spices, this recipe comes with some great perks of boosting beauty, too. Spices are an excellent source of minerals like potassium, calcium, manganese, iron, zinc, and magnesium. And minerals can help stimulate cell turnover, which is necessary for glowing skin. Plus these sweet and savory spices are so very versatile. They are warming and a wonderful way to help fight off colds in the winter. Even better, they taste delicious in soups, and smoothies too, so don’t hesitate to use them in many of your other delicious creations!
Power Staple Banana
Beauties, if you’ve been following my recipes for a while now then you’ve likely seen me write a thing or two about bananas. These perfectly packaged yellow treats are one of my favorite fruits to snack on. I truly believe bananas are one of the perfect foods for humans. If you look down at your hands, you’ll see that your nimble fingers were designed to peel bananas, just like our fellow monkey friends.
Bananas digest more slowly than other fruits, thus, they are great for use in different types of desserts, like my Creamy Banana Spice Cookies recipe I’ve created for you here. They pair well with a lot of other foods other than just fruit. Check out another one of my favorite banana dessert recipes here.
I’m sure you know by now that bananas contain a great deal of potassium which may help prevent the formation of kidney stones. The potassium in bananas can also help protect against high blood pressure and stroke. The tryptophan in bananas can help increase levels of serotonin in the brain, giving you a mood lift. Better yet, the potassium can help regulate proper fluid levels in the body. This, plus its wonderful sources of vitamin A, will help keep your skin looking hydrated and fresh. What’s not to love about that?! Bananas are an abundant source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber too!
Being such a wonderfully sweet, and creamy treat, they really are the perfect power staple to keep in your home.
Just be sure to let your bananas get yellow and ripe before enjoying it. When bananas are fully ripe, not only are they at their creamiest but also they are more alkaline-forming. We want to consume alkaline-forming foods in abundance and make our bodies more alkaline as best as possible. Being in an alkaline state helps keep us vibrant, beautiful, calm and peaceful. It’s no wonder bananas are a perfect, natural, human food and why I chose it as the base for this simple treat!

Hey there Beauty!
I just love this ingredient profile. What can I do if this turns out to set and doesn’t form a ball?
I tried these & my consistency was more like runny baby poop than dough. I still baked them but they never got to cookie consistency. What could be added to make the mixture more firm? Oats?
Hi Sumer! The consistency might vary depending on the softness of your bananas and how thick your almond butter is 🙂 You could always try adding in a bit more shredded coconut to thicken the dough. Happy baking! xx
Hi Kimberly! I really want to try this recipe, it looks delish! Question: I assume it’s 1/4 cup of shredded coconut? It doesn’t state the measurement! Thank you x
Hi Beauty! Yes, thanks for pointing that out! The recipe has been updated 🙂 Hope you enjoy trying these out! xx
Hello! I’d love to make these for my kids But they don’t like shredded coconut – any suggestions for a sub? Oatmmeal?
Hi Beauty! You could try substituting the shredded coconut with shredded nuts, oats or almond flour. Let me know how your kiddos like the recipe once you try it out! Sending you lots of love. xx
Hi I would love to make it but more low carb/keto so I would have to omit bananas. What can I use?
These look delicious to satisfy a sweet tooth without breaking the bank. Just don’t eat the whole batch at once hahaha.
I substituted almond flour for the shredded coconut. I used about 1/2 cup almond flour and a sprinkle more just to make it a bit thicker. I also added about a tablespoon of flaxseeds and they came out tasting like banana bread. Right consistency- could have turned them into muffins as well.
Yum! Sounds like you found the perfect substitution – so glad they came out great. Thanks for sharing! xx
How many calories per cookie?
Hi Beauty! I typically don’t count calories for my recipes. My focus is more on the nutrients, clean ingredients and vitamins offered in each recipe. If it’s helpful, this recipe makes 10 servings of a delicious, healthy treat that can be enjoyed as part of the Beauty Detox lifestyle! Sending you lots of love xx
When should you eat these as far as food combining goes?
Didn’t really satisfy my dessert cravings. It’s fine as a snack, if you love banana and are not expecting a “dessert” experience. For someone with a sweet-tooth like myself, I recommend trying her gingerbread banana nicecream recipe instead.
Thanks for trying out the recipe, Beauty! The Gingerbread Banana Nicecream is also another delish recipe! I am glad that one satisfies your sweet tooth 😉 xx
Thank you for the recipe! Tried these babies yesterday. I added a little ground almond to the mixture to thicken it up as it was too runny for me, but I think coconut flour might have done it better! Will try with it again. I loved the taste, but would serve them alongside a sweeter drink or one of elixir or add coconut syrup to the dough to make it more of a desert and less of a snack. Consistency is not like cookies though, more like soft bakes. My 2y.o. who would normally never say no to cookies, tried and said ‘mama, you eat it’. That would be first hehe. And I did! Quite enjoyed them with my chaga coffee 💛 I think Id like them baked as muffins though texture-wise with a dollop of coconut cream on top or a thin later of peanut butter and sprinkle of coconut 😊
Thanks so much for sharing your results Anastasia. Happy to hear you’re creating a version that works for you and your 2 year old. Sending you both so much love! Xo
Thanks for publishing this! I really enjoy the warming spices and appreciate the coconut/banana combo for digestion.
